I have been trying to make an appointment for my son for 2 weeks. Everytime I make the appointment I receive a call from a manager who tells me they don't see kids and wants to refer me to a place that doesn't accept my insurance. I then have my insurance call them so they can provide them the details of the provider to send the referral to and they refuse, saying my son needs to be seen. But then say they don't see kids. The manager was willing to give me a referral to a place I'd have to pay out of pocket money to, but not the place that accepts my insurance. Then the manager refused to speak with me while I had my insurance on the phone. Don't go here. It's a money grab with poor service. read more

In the last year, every single appointment I've made has been canceled and rescheduled, usually more than once, sometimes months later. The excuses are endless: "We've switched to summer hours." "Our office hours changed again." "The hygienist's daughter had something come up." Meanwhile, I'm the one who shows up on time, confirms my visits, and takes my health seriously -- only to be treated like my time and well-being are worthless. I literally get emails asking me to confirm my appointment. I respond confirming. Then I get a call the next day asking me to confirm. I asked if they got my confirmation online and they said they don't even receive those. Why are you wasting my time sending me emails then? And this isn't a one-off mistake. Honestly feel like this dental office is just open for a money scheme. Went in for a routine check up and they told me that I had 12 cavities and needed a deep oral cleaning. Went to another dentist office today and I have zero cavities and just needed a routine cleaning, they gave me an estimate of $14,000 saying that I needed to remove my wisdom teeth when they haven't even grown roots yet.Wanted to give me fillings when I have no cavities, tried to get a lower price only got it down to 8000 then again remember this was all for work that I don't even need . Overall, just had a terrible experience and definitely will never be returning .They wouldn't send over my x-rays or any type of scans that I did that belong TO ME. They also pulled four of my father's teeth without giving him any type of antibiotics or anything to prevent the pain sent him home drooling blood and haven't even done a routine check up for him. I haven't been to the dentist in a few years due to financial/insurance issues. Went to Aspen Dental in Algonquin, and was met with the most caring team I could have ever asked for. Elisia, Dr Zafar, and Madelyn (sorry if my spelling is wrong) and another very kind doctor helped me today and were extremely professional. Everyone treated me very well and was extremely nice. Even when it came to the billing portion, I was met with professionalism and the utmost courtesy from the office manager Madelyn (again very sorry if spelling is wrong). Will have to come back for more work next week and am resting assured with this team! read more

I had a tooth come out at lunch near the Algonquin location on a Tuesday. I had my procedure done there. My denture was under warranty and dropped in with denture and tooth to have it repaired. The woman at the front desk was nice and was going to check. Then the manager said I would need x-rays and a dentist to examine me. I said I am a patient there and just need it fixed. Next thing I know she comes back and says it will be ready Thursday . Needless to say I asked for my denture back and left. I had it done later that afternoon at a different Aspen and was treated like a valued customer and a patient not a $ sign. All this place thinks about is MONEY. Stay far away! read more

Multiple billing issues, poor communication, flat out lying to a patient saying they didn't do previous crown work that failed, then wanting to pull multiple teeth because they screwed up. If I could give zero or negative stars I would. Funny enough the two most recent reviews over a month ago are very similar to mine issues. I should've known by my first initial appointment when it was over 2 hours because the machines were down and they jerked me around this was NOT the place for me. The ONLY reason I went here was due to our insurance changing and we couldn't continue with our beloved practice. When it came time for my cleaning (which was rescheduled by them the hygienist was very aggressive. After several times flinching I asked for him to be more gentle. I have NEVER experienced a more painful and traumatic cleaning. I asked for another hygienist since he only did half my mouth and I was told he was the ONLY one for the entire practice. When trying to explain what happened to the EXTREMELY RUDE and gaslighting office manager I left. Don't go here, I HIGHLY recommend you look elsewhere. I came here for a slight emergency to get a temporary filling after mine came out. My regular dentist was out of the country so I wanted to at least get a little relief until I could get to him. I waited for about an hour and a half-- it was pretty busy and I was a walk in so I expected that --after getting some x-rays. The dentist(???)/hygienist (???) who came in didn't even introduce herself. I let that go because it was so busy. However, I couldn't forgive the fact that the product they were going to use for my filling was EXPIRED. It baffles me how apparently no one stocks or checks their products for expirations! So at the end of it, they woman said "Well I can't do anything sorry" and left. It was a bizarre experience to say the least. read more

I hate having to write this, I went to this office for several years and loved the front desk staff. I noticed the dentists changed with no notice. I would make an appointment with a dentist and show up and it would be a new person. Same with assistants but didn't think much about it because it wasn't the worst experiences but it wasn't great. I also had a rough experience when it took forever t get something back from the lab and the lady I spoke to was less than nice about it. liked the work I had done there so I kept coming back. Recently my crown was falling off like hanging off and I went in, I saw a dentist I had never met before and he was unfriendly. I was very pregnant so there wasn't much that could be done, he made no attempt to explain why or any options. When I asked he became extremely rude and literally huffed and was trying to get out of the room. He told me to come back and he'd put it back on but it seemed like he told me whatever so he could leave. They scheduled for me for an appointment but I was unhappy. It was a front tooth and I would have to walk around with missing a tooth but it was only for a week or two so I said whatever. The lady at the desk told me a date and I confirmed verbally and she gave me a card. The confirmation text and email had a date two weeks out. I attempted to call a different aspen and they of course wouldn't see me and told me to just stay with the Algonquin office. I'm not mad at them. The last straw was I got an e-mail saying my treatment ended and "thank you for the smiles." I was unaware I wasn't coming back, I then got a text and another email confirming my appointment. I was confused and didn't feel like it was worth it to call and figure it out. I went somewhere else and got the issue fixed. I found out once I went elsewhere Dr. rude dentist wouldn't have been able to put the crown back on so the appointment they made would've been useless. This office is terrible. They call and cancel and need to reschedule frequently. They also make you wait forever in the waiting room. The last appointment for my sons wisdom tooth consultation took over an hour for the doctor to look at him for 5 minutes before giving us the same diagnosis we had last time. (Needed wisdom teeth out) - just made me come in because it had been over a year (because of Covid) since the first referral. That's fine, but the actual appointment time that I scheduled for the surgery was changed 3 times within 24 hrs of actual appointment. So we arrive at 2:30. This time was still not accurate because we still sat in waiting room 45 minutes. I will never return to this office. This kind of blatant disregard for their patients schedules is not ok. Schedule appointment Same-day denture repairs with our onsite labs". Walked in today and said I needed denture repair and I was not interested in new dentures. Said I had to be an established patient and make an appointment with the doctor because they would want to examine me and take xrays. For a denture repair?? I'm just committed to being stupid and I was shamed into going back to get my painful tooth pulled, as we were advised by the very rude and unhelpful staff, except for receptionist Annie,who is amazing. Showed up at my appointment time and was presented a bill for $398.00 before I could even proceed. This from the same girl who told me on my previous visit that a) I should wait to after February 15 to get the tooth pulled because that's when my insurance would kick in and that B) I could call them if I needed medication refilled etc, but she lied about that too ! So we're there by 145pm, and this girl has to retry the insurance, and gets my ssn, to verify coverage! Long story short, she wasn't even calling the right insurance company!! I had already told her I have Physicians Mutual, and obviously me previous visit was covered and paid for, but here we are. I am handicapped so at 230pm after waiting for over 45 minutes while "Brie" was shamelessly flirting with the Invisalign rep, my insurance was never contacted so my caregiver went up and asked Brie what was happening? She very rudely said "she's not covered by insurance" and that's when we found out she again wasn't even trying to contact my insurance! They will never get the chance to work on my, or my families teeth. Aspen dental customer service don't respond with your stock " we're sorry this was you experience....blah,blah,blah. Very disappointed. My daughters wisdom teeth surgery appointment was canceled about 20 minutes before we got there. Supposedly the oral surgeon was stuck in an elevator. Pretty lame excuse I think. (It was a Monday and the Dr. probably didn't feel like working.) Was he gonna be stuck In the elevator all day? Why couldn't he just do surgery when he got unstuck, we were the 1st appointment of the day? It wasn't like it was a filling or even a root canal with less recovery time. I lost a day of work and my daughter 3 days of work. Becky could not seem to comprehend that fact. Maybe there should be a back up oral surgeon on call for emergencies. Went to Crystal Lake oral surgeons that same day got a new surgery scheduled and the price is $2200 compared to $4800 at Aspen. I should have read reviews before I booked an appointment there. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Made an appointment with their call center due to severe pain after a filling that was done 2 months ago at smiles on Randall which don't go there either. I explained to the girl that I was having severe pain in that tooth and the dentists at smiles on Randall said there was nothing wrong. When I spoke to the lady at the call center and explained EXACTLY what was wrong she advised me that the initial exam with full mouth X-rays would be $19 at the promotion they had. Great no problem. 20 minutes before my appointment my phone rings and it's the Algonquin office wanting to know what's wrong. I explained my situation and she said " oh if we're only focusing on 1 tooth the cost will be $97. Now someone please tell me you want $19 for a full exam with X-rays and want $97 to look at 1 tooth??? To me this place sounds shady and is out for your money only. They could have cared less about the pain I am in. I bet if it was 1 of their mothers it would be free or $19. Everything at this place they claim to have promotions. Again all about the money. Remember dentists and personnel this is why you go out of business or get bad raps. A happy customer may tell 2-3 friends but a dissatisfied customer will tell 50 or more people. These people prey on insecurities. Not just adults, but also teenagers! We went last week to get a ballpark figure for braces or Invisalign. For the record my son is healthy, handsome, symmetrical, and only needs a couple of gaps closed and maybe one or two teeth straightened out. That should've been a fairly straightforward appointment. However Dr. Frey came in and suggested a bunch of unnecessary surgeries. Number one - he suggested that my son have surgery to make his chin "bolder and more masculine" when his chin is already symmetrical and proportional. Then he suggested a surgery for cutting back his gums to make his teeth show through better. His teeth are already prominent, and proportionate. After all of that, he had the gall to suggest an appliance that would "widen his teeth to match his smile". His teeth and his smile are perfectly lined up and proportionate already. This guy is trying to sell things people don't need and prey on your insecurities. As of this point my son is going to need therapy to recover from that appointment. He is absolutely certain he needs several surgeries to "fix his face" what kind of a doctor does this to a little kid?? Do not go in here. Also, they will send an automated and insincere response to any comments. As soon as I posted, I got a response immediately. This is not a person or employee, but a computer. Went to Aspen Dental Algonquin almost a year ago to get implants They started the procedure but has not finished. They required me to prepay over $5000.00 now they wont return my calls to schedule the completion of the procedure. They first scheduled me to go to Mt Prospect then they cancelled and wanted me to go to Niles then canceled. Now I have implants under my gums but nothing more still using temporary dentures. DO NOT USE THEM !!!!! No service is worse than bad service. I wish i could give negative stars on here. read more

When calling to confirm the appointment don't go on about how you can't believe YOU booked it so late and then call the day of to say there was an "emergency" and have to reschedule. Amazing atmosphere and care. Ashley B. and her staff all are very sweet. My son, Deiontae and I was a first timer and he was very terrified when Ashley called his name. But once everything was completed, he was smiling & relaxed again. He even made the statement that everyone was so nice! Shocked me(he has NEVER made any comments after leaving appointments). I highly recommend Aspen Dental located in Algonquin, IL. This office and the location is convenient (in front of Wal-Mart). I Scheduled a 6 month cleaning and a tooth to be pulled after they sent me to another dentist to see if Aspen can put a crown on it, and no it needs to be pulled. Well at my appointment today I waited in the waiting room about 30 min. Then brought in and had x-ray's taken and then waited 30 more min. For the dentist to come in and look at the x-ray's and look in my mouth and said she left to talk with office manager 15 mins go by and the hygienist came in to look in my mouth and say I need a cleaning. Which I was there for and she left to talk with office manager. So now its been 1 hour and 30 min. and now the office manager came and asked me to come and go over what need to be done. At this time I'm upset cause nothing has I came in for has been started. She went over everything and how much it will cost. Now she asked when can we schedule to do this. Well I asked for the day off to do what I scheduled for and never been to a dentist that wasted my time like this. She tells me sorry we only have one detest and hygienist and their not the same ones you had 6 months ago and they are super busy. No wonder they aren't there any more. You guys overbook $$patients$$that over work their staff. They have 6 dentists names posted as the team in the waiting room. My first visit to this office was about the same. I had made an appointment for a cleaning. Once I arrived, I was told that since I missed my 6 month appointment a full exam was needed. At the conclusion of the exam, which was more rough than normal in my opinion, I was told that my teeth were too dirty to clean that day and I would need a new appointment later in the month. That day had been rough on me and I was not in the best mood going in, so I interpreted at the time that I was being spoken down to and that the hygienist had been rude and rough. After expressing that to the dentist (who tried to up sell me two different treatment that were un-needed), the hygienist return to defend her action with attacks on me being rude. After talking through the interaction, I agreed to return for service. Today I showed up for the scheduled deep cleaning and was told, "welcome, I see you here on the schedule. we texted you today and emailed you a few days ago. Your hygienist is not here, so we will have to reschedule for a later date." I had no text, no calls and the only email I had received was to verify that my appointment was today, which I verified at that time. Do not waste your time. I went and not only was it a good dentist visit, it was a good experience overall. the moment I walked in Cara at the front desk was bubbly and took care of getting my ins to assign me to that office, Amanda did my xrays and explained everything I was looking at, even cracked a few jokes to lighten the mood. Jazzmine explained all the billing and out of pocket expenseals before any treatment was given, she explained what was optional and what wasnt so I can make an informed decision and finally, Dr. Bo ended up having to pull a wisdom tooth, but even stayed late after hours to get it done and it was so quick I didnt even know it was done. now a day later I'm tender but not sore and in 0 pain. They say going to the DMV or calling comcast lis like pulling teeth - I wish doing those things was as easy as actually getting a tooth pulled here. read more

I went to Aspen Dental for an emergency procedure because I lost a cap on one of my teeth. Upon our first visit and after the initial exam, I was told I needed some extensive work and it would also be necessary to extract a number of teeth and be fitted for partial dentures. The next stop was into the Office Managers office for amount to be covered by insurance and what my responsibility would be. For the complete package the total came to $5,372.00 to which Insurance would cover $2,144.40 in discounts and $1,554.40. I would have to pay $1,673.20 up front BEFORE any work was done to which I did ($1,073.40 in check and $600.00 on Discover). After payment I was told there would be no other charges unless the Insurance did not cover some of the procedures. Six months later I returned to be fitted for my permanent dentures, I was told they would not continue with the procedures unless I paid an additional $1,800.00. They said the permanent casting and dentures were not included in the original quote. This office did a similar thing to my wife who went in for complete dentures, was given a total price and on her next appointment was given a bill for an additional $1,000.00. This seems to be a BAIT & SWITCH practice. Through doing some research and reading other complaints, this seems to be a common practice with Aspen Dental they seem to always find more wrong with the patient than is expected, insist on doing a "DEEP CLEANING", do half the work and have you come back and charge more to complete the work they started. Aspen also seems to have a HIGH TURNOVER of its employees. Each time my wife and I went into the office there were always new faces as well as DDS's. I had an appointment for my 6 month check up and cleaning. I had transferred from the Woodstock office to the Randall Rd Algonquin office. I had called them 2 times to ask them to transfer my chart. My info had not been transferred, I was asked twice when I had X-rays last, when I had a cleaning last . They did my X-rays even tho they still never called the Woodstock office, the Dr looked at a couple teeth. Then the dentist said they were "busy, and lunch break is soon", I wasn't going to get my cleaning that my appt. was for,cuz they were busy! I had an appt! My appt was at 11:00. Patients are supposed to get X-rays, exam, & cleaning. Don't you know how to schedule? Did you take too many "walk-ins", make them happy, and dump on me? Will my insurance pay for my X-rays cuz you were too lazy to call the Wdstk office? I want my xrays (yes, I know they are mine-I know my patient rights) and then I will get a new dentist. read more

They don't know how to do math, the numbers they have are about $400.00 more then my insurance is showing now I need to try and get someone who can see and do basic math to see what I see until they can't Iwill need to take other measures. I brought my 89 year old mom to the Algonquin office for some loose teeth. I am glad that I went in to the treatment room with her. She can't walk very well, so the accounts girl also came in there to talk about costs. She was talking pretty non stop, and very loudly. Although she may have meant well, my mom isn't deaf, and it was rather nerve rattling. The tech mixed the materials for a dental mold, and I feel that it was far too thin. It was the consistency of a thick milkshake. The girl put the tray over mom's upper teeth and held the back of her head with the other hand. Mom was slightly reclined. The liquid started to pour into the back of my mom's mouth and she exclaimed that she could not breathe. The tech continued to hold the tray in, and I saw my mother beginning to choke, and her eyes got very distressed. By then, she could not speak. I had to shout at the tech "GET IT OUT OF THERE!" Only then did she remove it, and the liquid was all over my mother's nose, cheek and mouth, as well as pouring over her entire lower lip like a waterfall as she tried to clear her airway. During the panic, the accounts girl was telling my mother how she had to lean forward for those because she has a gag reflex, while the tech told my mother she can breathe out of her nose, which my mother has difficulty doing. While they talked, my mom needed care and was not getting it. I had to ask for some towels to clean her up, then again ask for wet and dry towels, then ask for a mirror, then ask for a cup of water, again ask for a cup to spit into. Mom said she was having a hard time coughing the stuff out of her throat. I thank God I was there. I feel there was a great chance she would have choked to death had I not been there. I think $800 was far too much to pay for what she went through. She did have 2 teeth pulled and a filling, and I will say she felt ok during that. Everything before that was a complete nightmare. We will not return. I would not even send someone I don't like there. Awful experience! read more

Dr. Rosales and staff are amazing. They put my mind at ease and explained everything to me in away I can understand. I love the fact that we can watch TV during treatment or waiting for the doctor to come in. That is one way that made me feel very comfortable. I also loved that the staff kept me informed and the doctor pulled the X-Ray up on the TV right in front of me so I could see everything as he was explaining it to me at the same time.
