1-star - Absolutely terrible experience at Signature Dental Group in Algonquin. I went in today for a routine cleaning, but after wasting 20 minutes of my morning, they flat-out refused to provide any service because I declined dental x-rays. I made it clear I didn't want or feel the need for x-rays, and as a patient, it's my right to refuse them--plain and simple. Informed consent and patient autonomy are basic rights in healthcare, yet this office treated me like I had no say. They wouldn't even perform the cleaning without forcing x-rays on me first. No real explanation beyond "policy," no discussion of alternatives, and zero respect for my decision. This feels like nothing more than a blatant cash grab--pushing unnecessary radiation exposure and extra billing instead of focusing on actual patient care. The staff couldn't (or wouldn't) explain anything properly; they just see patients as dollar signs. Poor communication, zero empathy, and a complete disregard for patient rights. Signature Dental Group (and their "gentle" approach--ironic) is a joke. I will never return, and I strongly advise anyone reading this to go elsewhere. Find a dentist who actually listens to patients and respects their choices instead of strong-arming them into procedures. Save your time and money--avoid this place at all costs. read more

I was just there the other day and the dentist and the back staff are AMAZING!!!! The girl with dark hair at the front (the one who answers the phone and handles the insurance) is completely NASTY!! God forbid you ask ANY QUESTIONS, you will not get an answer. You will be told to call insurance or HR. Clearly I don't have medical jargon memorized so when I ask a simple question, I'd like an answer with the nasty attitude removed!! There are two reasons that I stopped going to this dental office... 1. I have bad reactions to epinephrine so I warned Dr. Shakeel not to use it for any of my procedures, he "forgot" and used it anyway. I had a resulting 8 hours of misery after that appointment that could have been so easily avoided if he had followed the instructions on my patient chart. This kind of sloppiness is not acceptable. 2. I was sitting in the chair during one visit waiting to see the Dr. and could hear him interacting with a woman in the chair next to mine. She was very upset about her full mouth implants not fitting correctly, her bottom jaw was butting out in front of her top teeth. I could hear the despair and tears in this woman's voice and Dr. Shakeel was downright COLD to her. He ended up walking out on her, I think she was crying, and he just angrily walked out while she was talking to him. It was disturbing. read more

Well the journey is complete and my front tooth implant is installed. I hesitated to leave a review because I don't want you new patients to fill up his schedule but decided to roll the dice. Couldn't be more happy with the dentist, staff, and the overall process. It was my first experience with this office. I went there because my dentist didn't do implants. They could only make the flipper and the implant tooth. I wanted a one stop office so I went to the chains first. Tried Eon and Clearchoice. I thought I was buying a used car. Besides expensive quotes, it felt like assembly line dentistry. Luckily my daughter told me about Dr Shakeel's office. I got a reasonable price, outstanding service and a great finished product. To my surprise, I didn't even need an aspirin for pain. I plan on making him my regular dentist even though it is over an hours drive for me. read more

If I could give no stars I would. A week ago I started having pain. Called couldn't get me in until Thursday this was on a Tuesday. Called the next day pain was worse. Asked about getting in sooner. (They offer emergency services). Wednesday Vicki told me the dentist leaves at 4:30. I said please ask if they could call back with a recommendation for some place else or see me. Well no one called back. I ended up with an emergency root canal and had a very infected tooth. Wow what more can I say about their lack of concern or care. And no follow up call ever. Not going back regardless. Make your own choices but besides the money made. Do they really care Follow up: I called Tuesday and Wednesday, no one called me back Wednesday, I went elsewhere Wednesday. I'm not confused about this. It was a casual weekend trip to Chicago for a weekend. I had an accidental fall on a pole, an injury that left me in 0 confidence. My tooth was broken in Half and had severe pain. I was in pretty bad shape, with bruises and swollen face, after basic first aid, on a Sunday, I called Signature Dental group stating my emergency, Dr. Shakeel was quick to respond and put me on medication. Dr.Shakeel made arrangements for an emergency checkup on Monday itself. The Entire staff was very friendly and caring, I visited the group and Linda took my x rays with care. Dr. Shakeel, had done a few procedures on me, worked my root canal, and took care of an infected broken tooth. All this in one Monday Afternoon. He was like a magician, performing every act professionally and meticulously. I was hopeless on Sunday but walked out of Signature Dental group with great confidence on Monday Evening. The Pain Reduced, and I was able to get back to work on Tuesday in Indianapolis! Bruises faded slowly over the week, the best part is I'm feeling normal and going back to Chicago soon for a follow-up. I Highly Recommend anyone in Chicago to visit Dr. Shakeel. read more

Hands down, Dr. Shakeel is one of the most skilled dentists I've been to! I mirror the previous comments about Julie! It's an awesome cohesive team. You truly do feel like they are family . Never dreaded going to the dentist after the first visit, actually looked forward to going .All caring and comfortable. Dr. Shakeel is meticulous in all of his work and maintains high standards on all levels of his dentistry; your comfort and the esthetics of your smile. I'm just genuinely saddened that cannot finish what was started due to the misunderstanding of the insurance and how it works in the state of Illinois. I truly believed it was only a misunderstanding, we could talk and he would adjust it. He is in my network and therefore is bound by law to not charge a dime over the amount he contracted with the insurance company--regardless of whether you max out your benefits or not. His bookkeeper believes once you exhaust benefits there is no need to submit. Wrong!! Insurance company needs the record AND they are still bound by Illinois Dental insurance law. My insurance advocate contacted me to advise me that I have over paid by just under $18,000.00. I was in shock and did lots of checking and research before taking this to the bookkeeper. They won't budge. I'm disheartened and sad because besides this, best experience ever!!! So it is now in the hands of my insurance provider to get this resolved . So If you're not in his network, you'll have no issues--I would 100% recommend him. You can still file your insurance--it'll just be at the doctor's set amount and you will love this practice. If you're in network, check your billing carefully. I will miss this dental office terribly. I love the whole team. I implored him to re-read the contract he signed on for and suggested if he wasn't comfortable with his agreement, drop the company. read more

Dr. Shakeel seemed very rude, arrogant and disinterested regarding my concerns while visiting his office for a second opinion.

The secretaries and the nurses are extremely nice and helpful. However, I would not recommend 2 out of the 3 dentists that work there. The newer dentist (Dr.Chung, I think) seemed nice and I had miner work done by him with no complaints. The other two dentists kept messing up the height of my crowns and eventually my bite completely changed. Now, my 'deep bite' is so much worse, I am constantly biting the inside of my cheeks when I eat and there is whistling through my front teeth when I talk. They told me that nothing they did could have caused this, so they refused to fix it. My family and I will not be going back. read more

I researched and reviewed 84 different dentists in my network (yes 84!) prior to making an appointment with Dr. Mohammed Shakeel. My research paid off, and Dr. Shakeel, to say the least, went well beyond my expectations! Dr. Shakeel's initial evaluation was very thorough, and he put together a plan that outlined the work to be done. He suggested that he start with a cleaning and one filling, then proceed to a crown (I have several to be done), to make sure I was comfortable and satisfied with both he and his work. Dr. Shakeel was very generous with his time and answered all of my questions, as well as helping me with additional information and some issues I needed his expertise with, which he gladly provided. (His time went well beyond the scope of a general exam and evaluation). I have since had one crown done which was excellent, and will have many more to follow. I know how difficult it is to find a dentist that is truly superior, and I have found this in Dr. Shakeel. I have several crowns, and potential other work to be done, and am confident in both Dr. Shakeel and his work, and would highly recommend him to anyone! read more

As a sales rep in the area I can choose to go just about anywhere for a dentist. However, I will never go anywhere except Signature Dental Group. They run on time first and foremost and the person who cleaned my teeth gave me great advice on little things to help my gums etc. that I can do in the car that is easy. Dr. Shakeel is smart and very professional. However, the reason I write this review is because I had a problem with my insurance. They worked with the insurance to get everything squared away. Because it took many months, I offered to pay my bill and they declined and kept at it until they got the money from the insurance. Awesome place. The best experience ever. read more

In 2016 Dr. Shakeel extracted upper #15 tooth and filled the hole with bone graft. A few months later he placed the implant. I was back in his office in February 2020 to replace a very old crown with another implant on upper #5. Again, the failed tooth root was professionally removed, bone graft and implant placed. In February 2022 I was back in his office to replace a failed implant on upper #2 from another doctor I used before I met Dr Shakeel. This last implant is healing great and I am waiting for the restoration work to begin. read more

The absolute best dentist in the world!! From the first phone call I made I was greeted with an extremely friendly voice. That is Vicky. She is awesome. I had quite a bit of work done in my mouth. I was there about 5-6 hours one day and it felt like 2. Julie the dental assistant made me feel so comfortable and was so concerned the whole time if I was doing ok. She is perfect for this job. Now to Dr Shakeel. He has zero room for improvement. He has made me comfortable with going to the dentist again. I will never be hesitant about having work done. I will recommend Signature Dental to everyone. I've been to a lot of different dentist in my life and he is by far the best there is. He deserves more than 5 stars!! If you are like many of us and are a bit nervous at the dentist, they do their best to put you at ease. The reception desk is staffed by friendly and helpful employees. The dental hygienist is very skilled and makes your teeth cleaning, xrays etc. a pleasant experience. It had been many years between Dentist visits when I first visited Dr Shakeel and I needed a fair amount of work to be done including extracting a very broken tooth on the first visit. I couldn't believe how quickly and efficiently (and painlessly) he extracted the tooth. He also spent time to explain the various options I had for caring for my teeth (I have since had a couple of caps done and a bridge for a tooth I lost years ago). He understood that I had to budget the work and came up with a plan to have the needed work done over the course of a year. I have been going to this dental office for years now. Dr Shakeel is very professional, honest and trustworthy. Since the beginning, he constructed a plan for my needs and has followed it ever since . There's not many dentists around that can be trusted anymore but he definitely is one you can trust. My Wife and I visit Dr, Shakeel on January 8th 2013 for a Consultation of a Dental Implant. Both my Wife and I were impressed of the friendly staff, our feeling after our consultation with Dr. Shakeel, convinced us to set up an appointment. Yesterday was the Day January 23, 2013 !! After spending the entire day with Dr. Shakeel and his staff not only assured me that I made the right decision. To day I have all new teeth it feels great, I am looking forward to have my temporary teeth replaced within the next six months for the completion of my Dental Implants. Update: My implant is complete and my new tooth looks great! It's very natural looking and the color matches very well. It was my front tooth and an implant in front is a little tricker. The extract wasn't bad at all. Dr. Shakeel is extremely good with administering shots. Once the implant was in they gave me a "flipper" which is basically like a retainer with a fake tooth. Because my implant was my front tooth I had to wait a little longer than most other implants as the bone in the front of the mouth is thinner. The wait sucks..but now that I have mine done, looking back, it was well worth the wait! I was hesitant to do an implant, but considering all the time and money I spent on procedures trying to save the previous crown, this was something I should have done earlier. read more

I had a dental emergency where my crown fell off unexpectedly. I was able to get a next day appointment with Dr Shakeel who turned out to be an outstanding dentist. I was able to get temporary crown, while the actual one which I received after a week looked better and has a better fit than what I had. Dr. Shahkeel is nothing short of amazing! Another dentist had made a mess of my teeth, and so I came to Signature Dental with broken crowns and broken tooth. He patiently repaired the broken crowns, and had to remove a shattered tooth and put in an implant. He works quickly but gently, finessing the work so you have minimum pain and a perfect result. That takes precision skills and a caring attitude. And his staff is so kind and professional, they really care! THE BEST DENTIST PLACE THERE IS! I can almost guarantee you will not find a better dentist place in Chicagoland area. The entire staff is so welcoming and warm, with always a smile on their faces. It just makes the whole experience so much more comfortable and fun, totally worth making the 30 mile drive. Dr. Shakeel is one of the best dentists I have ever come across. He is professional, sweet and funny. He works with you at your pace, keeps checking up on you to make sure you are comfortable and if you need to take a break. I had a fantastic experience at Signature Dental Group this afternoon. I just moved to Algonquin from the city of Chicago and I chose this office as my new dental provider! The office is very conveniently located just off Randall road in Algonquin. The office is very nicely decorated, and the reception staff, the dental hygenist and the Dr. were all very kind and friendly. The dental hygenist was very thorough and took her time cleaning my teeth. I love their new-patient check-in system: they have a computer there and you get to input all your information into an easy-to-follow form instead of having to write it all! That was a huge plus - no one likes to fill out forms. When I was escorted out, I was given a super cute little clear toothbrush case with a toothbrush, floss and mini toothpaste inside!! I loved this. I am very happy with my experience at Signature dental group and I would recommend them highly! read more

I had implant surgery done in another state but they were unable to complete the job (this process took over a year!). When I moved back to Chicagoland area, I immediately went to Signature Dental. The Dr. did a fantastic job of matching the color and putting in the new implants within a few months of our first meeting. The worst dental office ever. Follow-up is terrible, the doctor doesn't show up on the date of surgery and no one from the office will notify you. Then they have the audacity to send you a bill when no work was ever performed. When you call to notify them that you received a bill when no services were performed they are rude, give you attitude and argue. I will be reporting them to the BBB. This office should not be in practice! It is probably a good thing the surgery was never done, I would hate to have to deal with the end result of that too! My experience at Signature Dental in Algonquin was much lower than I originally expected. First I had to wait over 30 mins for my appt, which was for simple fillings. Secondly, I saw multiple unsterilized dental tools sitting out on the counter. Secondly, I saw Dr Shakeel touch his gloves on the chair and counter, and then placed them back in my mouth for an exam. Lastly, I felt that the front desk staff didnt know what to charge me for my procedures that day, and looked confused as to what was on my treatment plan. And not to sound picky, but Dr Shakeel wears wayyy too much cologne, it was overpowering when he gave me an exam. read more
