Millard West Veterinary Clinic - Poor Cooper!!

Millard West Veterinary Clinic

I brought my brand new 11 week old kitten here for her very first check up! The front staff was…read moresuper helpful and even loved on my kitten!! The doctor was EXTREMELY helpful and was very open to not only answering but going into detail about any and all questions I had! Now I have a happy and healthy brand new kitty!!

My puppy was having bad diarrhea and I was worried so I called Millard West Vet Clinic and was able…read moreto make an appointment for that same day. Dr. Matt was very helpful, you could really tell he cares about animals. He told me to give him a call on Monday with an update on my puppy's health and he's really the only reason I gave any stars at all. He did give me troubling news that since my pup's testicles had not dropped yet, it could be a sign of cancer. This obviously worried me and stuck in my mind. After all was said and done, my puppy eventually got better and I called the clinic with a positive update. Still concerned about cancer, I decided to call the clinic once more a few weeks later to ask about how likely that outcome would be since the testicles still had not dropped (I'm a big worrier). I'm not sure who I talked to but she treated me like an idiot. When I asked about the likeliness of cancer, she seemed almost irritated with me and asked who it was that told me that, I said it was the vet. She put me on hold then got back on the line and told me that I MUST have misunderstood what was said and that Dr. Matt was just saying that to try and convince me to neuter him. It surprised me that a professional would just say something so serious to try and persuade a pet owner to neuter. I kept reiterating what she had said to see if she was really going to throw the vet under the bus or try and reexplain what she said. After making me feel stupid for "misunderstanding" the vet, she also tried to tell me I had my OWN dog's age wrong. Dr. Matt said that if my pup's testicles don't drop after 6 months, I should for sure get him back in or go to our regular vet. I mentioned this to her and and how he was getting closer to that 5-6 mo. mark. The breeder was a family member so there is no way I incorrect about his birthday/ age. She double checked the birth date and she back tracked and told me that I "might" be right... He was 17 weeks when I brought him in on the 6th of April ( he was nearly 4 mo. old) and I called them on the 16th of April (getting closer to 5 mo.) Overall, my experience was pretty good, but sadly that one phone call made all the difference. If I would have been shown more respect and understanding, I would have rated them much higher. Maybe it was an off day for that person or maybe she thought she could treat me like an idiot and it wouldn't make a difference.

Coming to Millard Vet Clinics is one of the best things we ever did for our cats. They are…read moreconsummate professionals, caring, and affordable. We had tried out a few vets for our cats - a few different locations of Gentle Doctor - and we always felt they weren't caring enough, and we couldn't leave there without spending $200, minimum! But when we were recommended to try out Millard Vet Clinics, we were happy to try a place that friends and family had loved and had good experiences with. First off, I like the setup of this office a lot. Our cats get very testy when dogs are around, and Millard Vets have a separate waiting room and side for cats vs. dogs, so it's a lot less chance for them to see each other and cause a ruckus. Our first visit, we took both our cats in for their yearly shots and check-ups. Dr. Maria was so kind and understanding, especially with our older cat Conan, who is way more cantankerous than our other kitty. Gentle Doctor always wanted to put on giant gloves and hold Conan down tight to the table to examine and inoculate him, but Dr. Maria didn't want do anything like that and didn't want to traumatize him again with gloves/and restraints. Conan was still scared, though, from the previous place he went, and he was hissing and hiding under chairs and not letting anyone touch him. One of the vet techs is a literal cat whisperer, though, and could pick up Conan with no problem. It's just the way people approach him that escalates his anger/fear, and there was none of that here. Remy, our other cat, was completely fine from the jump, and let them do the check up and shots with no issue. A few days later, we noticed a bump on Remy's leg at the injection site. We went back to Millard Vet Clinics, and Dr. Sam took a look and gave us an anti inflammatory, to not start from the jump with putting him through antibiotics. She even FaceTimed me at home (my husband was at their office and I was home with our other cat), to explain everything and assure me Remy would be fine. Dr. Sam even called us the next day to ask us how Remy was doing, and we were happy to report that the swelling was already going down, and was completely gone soon after. That's just to show you that they are not so quick to throw prescriptions at things, and instead use the gentlest thing for the kitties first, before trying anything else - which I appreciate! We took Remy and Conan back recently for their annual shots and checkups, and Conan was WAY better behaved this visit. Just a little bit of hiding and one hiss, but ten times better than he had been his first time here (and every time at Gentle Doctor). Millard Veterinary Clinics, and specifically Dr. Sam and Dr. Maria are the best. I trust my cats health with them and I'm VERY protective of my cats. So I totally recommend you try them out for your fur babies and see if they are a great fit for you, as they were for us!
