Observing this place it's very organized. Unlike sportchek that are staffed with students who can share their experience when you shop, you have legit "grownups" who actually do these sports and so they can tell you how to buy, how to use and give you the confidence in your purchase. And this is what you want, I bet your a first time buyer looking for guidance. I really wish I bought my gear here because when I went to sportchek....it was an overwhelming what am supposed to do and frequent glances to google on my phone. I was first able to use the skis on a trip to Lake Tahoe in 2024. I found the skis very hard to ski on. They were way too long given my skill level. I used them a total of four days and ended up selling them on Face Book market place for less than half of what I paid for them. I went to Skiis and Biikes before our Whistler trip in January and they recommended Völkl Peregrine 165cm which worked out great.

To bring you up go speed I had recently purchased a pair of Bauer vapor ice skates and after wearing them a dozen times I still experienced foot pain caused by my flat and collapsed arches. The place I had purchased them couldn't get rid of those "Hot Spots ". So a teammate recommended The owner Greg and he was able to heat and push out these areas of the skate boots. Now from this new custom fit I have total relief from the pain in both skates. Awesome! So now these skates are the best fit skates I ever had. KUDOS

I've also dealt with Alyssa previously and she was wonderful to deal with. They're the only spot really to get your skis in Buffalo. Their prices are cheaper than online, which is kind of hard to do. The kids they had "assisting" me could not make recommendations beyond "This section has women's boots" and "I like these because they look cool." He couldn't answer basic questions about sizes and had no idea how to even get me into a boot. Any boot. My experience at Mud, Sweat, and Gears was completely different. An experienced skier who is even familiar with offerings at ski lodge in the Pacific Northwest identified not only why I wasn't able to get into most boots, but what features were necessary for me to find a good fit. He set me up with new boots that have adjustable calf section and room for high arches, then customized them with a heal lift and custom insoles. Thank you!!!

The staff wete friendly and patient, who helped me select a great pair of new skates. All questions I asked he was able to answer. Also, the Pro Shop also sized and cut some of my own sticks down to the proper size. The one issue I had was the waiting time. As I said I had to wait for help and the skate sharpening which comes with the new skates took over 30 minutes. Overall a better choice than Natjonal Sports but does not come close to the care a small and local independent store may give you.
