Some out of town business associates took my advice and went into DSW yesterday. The store was closing right at the same time as a typical evening monsoon was roaring through Fort Myers. The out of town guests were staying across the road and could not walk through the weather back to the hotel. After attempting to call a taxi and the hotel shuttle, they were faced with the trek across the street. The store associates kindly offered them a ride (it took 2 cars) and they made it back to the hotel nice and dry. Amazing. I already loved DSW - now, I am a fan for life.

I can't purchase shoes online. I need to try them on and walk around to see if they fit the way I want them to. I have never had an easy foot to fit for a shoe. Their selection of shoes leans towards the runner-specific brands (Saucony, Mizuno, Pearl Izumi, Hoka One One, Altra, and Newton), but that's fine by me; if I wanted Nike and Reebok, I'd be at Dick's. This is a store for runners, run by runners. They know their stuff. Come in and ask them if you've got a question. Oh, and bring a dog treat or two -- often, Mike brings Muse, their Jack Russel, and she loves attention :) Finally... they host a group run weekly. Shaun, the owner, was there and he did an assessment of my walking and measured my feet. I was surprised when he told me I have flat feet and I pronate when striding. Not only that he assured me I've been wearing the wrong size shoes. He sold me a supportive shoe in the correct size. The sale associate was very friendly and called support if they carried volleyball sneakers. Unfortunately, No. Oh well, may be I can go to Asics or use Internet!
