    As part of our all Inclusive hotel, made reservations. Was greeted and seated. Ordered drinks and Food from the menu. Received our entrees of sushi, Wonton, Pad Thai, and buns. All were excellent! Can't complain about this place! Workers are very attentive and nice. Good food and good service made the ambiance great. Make sure you make reservations while staying at the Hilton all inclusive!. You won't be dissapointed. Portion size is small, just keep ordering! Lol it's all inclusive.

    We dined here for dinner two nights of our four night stay at the Hilton Playa del Carmen. Great food and great service. We asked to have the gyoza pan fried and the chef accommodated. It was really good. The braised pork belly was the best braised pork belly I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and flavorful throughout. We sat inside the first night and on the patio the second. I recommend the patio. The ginger ice cream for dessert was great. The lychee martini was also great. Easy 5 stars.

    Wow! Absolutely amazing & delicious experience! The service is wonderful! Felt welcomed from the moment we arrived until the very end when we left completely satisfied! Our server was so attentive and provided great suggestions. He always made sure we had everything we needed and that's not always easy for a party of 6! Cocktails were great & food was perfectly delicious! Perfect ambiance!

    Asiana was one of the many restaurants included in my all inclusive, it was clearly the best. Great spring rolls and bevy of Japanese options. The service was great and the ambiance was elegant. I recommend the ramen as well. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

    Dropped in for dinner started with the lychee martini spring roll soup and shrimp yakisoba. The soup was pretty light on ingredients and though not stated in the description had chunks of chicken in it. The spring roll is veggie and was pretty good. The shrimp yakisoba was an extremely small portion, there was more shrimp than noodles but it was well prepared and delicious just not enough.

    Let me start by saying that Boreli our server was amazing!!!! Arrived 5:30 and finished 4 courses by 6:30pm! Now that's service! Food was on point, service was fantastic, and even when we asked for changes to the menu, they team did not even bat an eye! Told hubby, we need to make reservations to come back before our trip comes to and end! Get cha some!!

    One perk of staying at the Hilton is eating a lot of this delicious food. Plus, it's all you can eat. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is intimate and warm. They are still following social distancing. Even though they open to the public you still need to make reservations.

    We stayed at the Hilton and this is one of the included restaurants. It is at the entrance and is open to the public. We had a few nice basic sushi rolls and some crispy spring rolls. We followed this with chicken and curry . It was a little bland but still tasted very nice. Husband had the duck stir fry with a side of fried rice and absolutely adored it. We had a nice table outside with lots of little bats eating the mosquitoes. Service was nice and it was a very pleasant meal.

    I had a nice experience at Asiana! It's not the best restaurant on this resort, but I certainly liked everything I ate. We started with some sushi, which was good, but VERY SMALL BITES!! Beware that the sashimi is very thin and the rolls are about 1/3 of the size you'd get elsewhere. The main courses of broccoli and beef and cumin pork noodles were both very good. I saw another reviewer mention that this was "outside" the resort and that she wanted to feel "safer," but I couldn't disagree more. This is literally steps away from the entry to the resort, and the whole damn area around this resort is safe! We walked around quite a bit. There's a huge police presence and most of the people around town are tourists. What's the point in choosing a resort that's so public if you don't want to actually experience a bit of the Mexican culture? It's just plain silly, if you ask me. I did not at one moment feel unsafe, ever.

    Before you all go looking, Asiana is located outside the resort. You would think they would build the restaurant so it's more of a secluded resort but no, you have to walk outside your resort to eat at this restaurant. The idea wasn't the best just because most people want to feel safe in a 4 to 5 star resort especially being in Mexico. Ernesto was our server and he was incredible. He was attentive and kind to us. Everything we asked for he went above and beyond to make us happy. The food here was decent but Mexico isn't known for sushi but they did alright. We ordered: -Spring Rolls (4/5): This is more of an egg roll but with vegetables inside because spring rolls are usually in rice paper and not fried but hey it tasted pretty good so hip hip hooray! Tasted so good we ordered 3 of them. -Salmon Nigiri (3.5/5): Wasn't the best salmon I've ever had. Didn't taste as fresh. -Eel Nigiri (3.5/5): Quite large piece but didn't taste as fresh. -Rainbow Sushi (3/5.5): Mediocre -Tabasco (3.5/5): My husband enjoyed this roll. I for one, thought it was ok as well. -Vietnamese Roll Salad (2.5/5): Mm the idea was kinda off.. it was like a spring roll thrown on a dish and cut in half. It wasn't much of a salad in my opinion. -Flank Steak with Tamarind (4/5): Best dish in this whole resultant. The steak was cooked perfectly. The vegetables were sautéed magnificently. This dish is why I'll come back here. It was delicious. I could eat 10 of these dishes. Yes 10. Highly recommend. If you're staying at the resort and you are a sushi connoisseur like myself, just give this place a try. It's not your typical Nobu or Uchi but it's decent for Mexico.

    We chose this restaurant on our first night staying at The Royal. It's just out front of the hotel, not attached as the others are but still included in your all inclusive package. To start we ordered the rainbow roll and spicy tuna roll. They were very heavy in rice and lacking in fish. They come in 4's as opposed to 6 or 8 and are very small. I suggest ordering more than two if there are more than two people at your table. For my main meal I ordered the duck with steamed rice and veggies and my boyfriend got the Thai beef. Both were amazing. My duck had a great flavor to it. The sauce on it was lightly sweet and tangy. It was cooked perfectly and not greasy like most duck dishes. My boyfriends Thai beef was wonderful! The beef was cooked perfectly and so tender. The sauce was very light and complimented the beef well. It came with steamed broccoli and a side of steamed rice. The restaurant itself is very beautiful. Decorated well without being overdone. The noise level can get pretty loud. Service was good. Not the best. Our servers were so nice but not very quick. It took a while to get plates removed and drinks refilled. Overall a great place to grab dinner. I would definitely recommend eating here if staying at the Royal.

Ambiance: This establishment is decorated so cute and gives you "high end" vibes. You can elect to eat inside or outside while you observe people walking by. In my experience, whenever a restaurant tries to promote dishes across multiple Asian cuisines, the results are not good. However, in this case, both my brother and I were impressed with the restaurant: in the dining space, service, and especially the food. Chi is located less than four blocks from Punta Langosta cruise port, on the second floor of a busy retail building. On one hand, the second floor is not ideal to attract prospective passerbys, with a ground level entrance hidden away around the corner of the main street. Plus I didn't see an elevator, so accessibility is an issue. On the other hand, being on the second floor allows a less frenetic dining experience away from the bustle of the street, as well as great al fresco dining on the open air balcony dining area with a great view of the city. We wanted A/C so chose a table inside, next to big windows. The menu is huge, with the largest devoted to classic American-Chinese dishes. There is also a page for Filipino dishes and one for Indonesian...definitely catering to folks from the nearby cruise boats. They do offer fresh fish as well, chosen as you enter, and they will cook it for you for minimal charge. I wanted to try their Chinese stir-fried conch dish ($21.79), and it came out first. It came with a thin white sauce, which isn't usually my favorite, but it was perfect in this case, with the fresh ginger and scallions adding a light flavor to the dish. The Nasi Goreng House Shrimp Fried Rice ($14.19 from the Indonesian Menu) came out a bit later, and was really well made. We had asked for it at 'No spice' level, and this resulted in it tasting just like a shrimp fried rice from a good Chinese restaurant. These two dishes really highlighted the wok-skills of the chef, and would be something I would get again. Next was the Adobong Pusit ($17.04 from the Filipino menu): baby squid in the typical adobo sauce that I enjoy. Appreciated the fact that the baby squid had been cleaned before cooking, and the removed tenacles were part of the dish. The sauce was really strong (no subtlety here). The final one was one recommended by the waitress, classic shrimp pancit ($14.19 from the Filipino menu), using thin rice noodles. This wasn't very good: decent pieces of jumbo shrimp, but the fish sauce overpowered everything else...OK for a meat dish, but not so much for a noodle dish that tends to absorb everything. The dishes did come out as they were prepared, which meant they were served hot, but came out pretty staggered. None of the dishes include white rice. The restaurant had no issues if you bring your own bottled water. There is a $1.50 service charge for each diner, and I believe additional tip is expected. They do a good job of making sure the USD to Mexican pesos conversion is fair, and give the choice of local currency or USD. They do provide free WiFi for their customers, and it was fast and reliable, definitely better than the spotty cell service we were getting inside. Ended up spending a bit more time here than anticipated, which good food and a pleasant dining experience tends to do.

One of the big reasons she chose Grand Velas over nearby resorts was Grand Velas' stellar food options. Grand Velas Riviera Maya has four 2024 AAA Four Diamond restaurants (Frida, Piaf, Sen Lin, Lucca) and one 2024 Michelin Star and AAA Five Diamond restaurant (Cocina de Autor). We tried seven of the eight restaurants and, for the most part, the food, drink, and service were outstanding. Sen Lin is the Asian restaurant of the group and it pleasantly surprised us. Below is how I rank Grand Velas Riviera Maya's restaurants based on our experiences. We visited Chaka, but after browsing the buffet, decided to return to Bistro for a sit-down meal instead. I highly recommend you book reservations as early as you can for Cocina de Autor, Frida, Piaf, Sen Lin, and Lucca (the nicer sit-down restaurants). Tier One 1. Cocina de Autor - fine dining, tasting menu Tier Two 2. Frida - Mexican 3. Bistro - casual, poolside sit-down 4. Piaf - French 5. Sen Lin - Asian Tier Three 6. Lucca - Italian 7. Azul - casual, poolside buffet Sen Lin is located in the Zen Grand section of the resort, in the jungle. My wife and I were a bit skeptical of an Asian restaurant at a resort in Mexico and we were wrong. The food and drink were delicious. While the food wasn't super "authentic," it was certainly tasty, well made, and beautifully presented. That was generally the case with all of the restaurants we visited at Grand Velas. We had a lychee martini and white wine to drink and below is a list of the dishes we ordered. While everything was included for us, I've listed the menu prices (in Mexican pesos) for informational purposes. Entries (appetizers) * Sashimi Sen Lin ($640) - thinly-sliced tuna, catch of the day, and salmon with Japanese spices and soy sauce * Niku Tataki ($420) - finely-sliced beef with white truffle essence, sweet Japanese sauce, and pea puree Main Courses * Ped Yang ($580) - Sen Lin-style lacquered duck, crepes with sesame essence and plum sauce of the house Desserts * Sago ($220) - tapioca pearls with sweet coconut milk, creamy sweet potato, and cantaloupe with pandan custard sauce * Sakura ($150) - coffee jelly with Baileys foam, cherry and vanilla ice cream The lychee martini was solid. It was sweet, refreshing, and garnished with a lychee. The Sashimi Sen Lin consisted of the most basic types of sashimi: tuna, salmon, and I believe yellowtail. The quality of the fish was good and fresh. This dish basically boiled down to three slices each of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. However, what set it apart was its elaborate presentation and garnishes. The sushi was served on top of a bamboo rolling mat, decorated with a banana leaf, atop a bowl of ice and what looked like what I can only describe as gold crushed rice. Along with sesame seed soy sauce, garnishes included a charred lemon wedge, two kinds of seaweed (dark green and light green), pickled ginger, cucumber slices with both tobiko and ikura (two kinds of fish eggs), shredded vegetables (radish and carrot), and wasabi. So yeah, the presentation was top notch. The Niku Tataki was another beautifully-presented and colorful dish with carefully-placed small flowers, finely-sliced radish, tight cucumber curls, and tiny dollops of white truffle "essence." The most impressive garnish was a single pea pod that had been carefully split open and displayed above the pea puree. As for the beef tataki itself, it tasted great. It was tender, savory, and cooked just right (cooked on outside, rare on inside). The Ped Yang, which is a Thai dish, was good/OK. It wasn't served the traditional Thai way, sliced in a curry sauce, but instead was a whole piece of bone-in duck covered in a rich, sweet sauce. There was so much sauce that the side of "plum sauce of the house" wasn't needed. I liked the warm, soft, delicate crepes, which reminded me more of Chinese Peking duck than Thai Ped Yang. This was a hybrid with what I thought were some odd accompaniments -- pickled ginger, cherry tomato, and a decorative assortment of vegetables like carrot, cucumber, and parsley. Both of the desserts were equally terrific. I think I preferred the Sago slightly more than the Sakura, but you can't go wrong with either. In the Sago, the layers of tapioca, sweet potato, and pandan custard were certainly interesting and up my alley since I enjoy creamy desserts. Both desserts came with fresh fruit on top (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, lychee). The restaurant has an elegant, glamorous vibe to it. The front bar area is gorgeous and quite spacious. Sen Lin is worth visiting for the bar alone. The dining room is large and opulent. Together with the huge, breezy hallways of Zen Grand, Sen Lin feels like dining in Vegas. During our visit, there was live music too (violinist). Service was excellent.
