They wanted to sell me an engine, in order to warranty any work for that job. The mechanic Tom at T& R did it, though. Successfully, in one days time. No new engine needed. However, as usual, Mike dealt with the issue with professionalism and a genuine commitment to solving my problem without gouging me with a costly repair. Mike diagnosed the issue and explained it to me in terms I could understand, which I really appreciated. He gave me a clear breakdown of the repair process and an estimate of the cost, which was fair and reasonable. He didn't JUMP to charge me for an expensive part that I didn't need (which the dealership would have done). The repair itself was completed in a timely manner, and when I picked up my car, the air conditioner was working better than ever. I have been going to Mike for my car repairs for many years as I value both his honesty as well as his dedication to customer satisfaction. It's taken me awhile to write this since I do have other life priorities than writing reviews. But here it finally is. After they changed my front brakes, and let them convince me the rotors needed changed but...did not. What was I thinking?! Anyway...finally had funds to get the rear brakes done. Was given an estimate but then AFTER the brakes were done & I got the bill it was $200 higher (I realize and estimate is just that) however $200 when they couldn't get the ones quoted so got the more expensive ones, without telling me First! Considering I am barely surviving on SS (which they were aware of my financial constraints) but even if not...they should've told me BEFORE they did the job giving me the option to reschedule!! It wasn't a dire emergency! It wouldn't been the smart decision...it's just poor business sense if one really cares about retaining a customer! On top of that, the rotors unlike the front ones which aren't near as bad, have the greatest amount of brake dust I've ever experienced on my 19 yo car...it accumulates in less than 2 days! They constantly need Cleaned it's so horrendous and unsightly...and for $200 MORE?!?! Plus they Screech when I brake!! Unacceptable & Inexcusable!! I am a former mechanic and know how to correctly repair a vehicle. I am not local to Vero so they have been taking care of my 84 year old mothers repair needs for a couple of years now. She calls me with her estimates and questions. On many occasions i have on my visits to her confirmed the need for the recommended repairs and they have been spot on and never seem to try to include unnecessary add ons. She has been to other shops before she found this one and they would always try to add on easy money scam repairs that i would have to advise against. That doesnt happen here. They treat her like family and i cant thank them enough. You may have to wait a bit to get in, but theres a reason for this. They are the BEST. Thank you to all the Team at Old Dixie.

I was looking for a local auto shop to help out and saw CRA Truck Car and RV. It was a Saturday and usually they are closed, however one of the mechanics was there and I asked if he could help. He said they weren't open, but without hesitation he took a look at my car, checked the transmission fluid and finally realized the car just needed more coolant. I asked him how much for helping, he said don't worry about it, I know it probably doesn't seem like a big deal, but I could have been left high and dry somewhere on the highway. This seems like the rare honest business that gives you the truth and only charges you for what you actually need. They just opened for business, if you're in the downtown Fort Pierce area give them a shot, we need more homegrown businesses like this and shows the true spirit of the people in Fort Pierce.
