Carl took the time to work with us closely on the planning phase, so we could balance our budget with the available options and we ended up very satisfied with our selection. He listened to our needs and made sure we would be happy with what we got. There was never any hard sell and it was clear his top goal was customer satisfaction. By chance, the awning manufacturer moved to a different state around the time we ordered the awnings, and Carl was very good about keeping us updated on the timing of expected arrival, as well as any other unavoidable delays...one of the things we value most in a contractor is clear communication, so that we know what to expect, and Carl always got back to us quickly, kept us up to date, and we were never left wondering about anything. The installation was quick and the workplace completely cleaned up afterwards, and he came out for an additional visit promptly when we had a concern about the installation, making sure everything was perfect and to our satisfaction. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! You will not go wrong working with Results Renovation and Repair.

However, there may be a time when you just need to bite the bullet and admit that a project is pretty daunting, and you need help... and for us, that's where Michael came in. Michael completed the finishing (and skill-intensive) work on a somewhat complex deck rebuild/redesign that was simply taking us too long to complete. We were ready for someone to come in and make our ideas a reality. Michael did just that. We drew up our concepts, and he brought them to life--and even added some touches we wouldn't have thought of. Following that project we were so pleased with his work that we had him refinish our 100+ year old front door. It needed a lot of work, and he brought it back to life. I cannot speak to the other reviewer's experience with Michael, but we've had good experiences and would use him again.

Michael Cohen, owner of Rent an Artisan (he advertises on Ithaca Craigslist and boasts a ton of…read moreexperience, which cannot possibly be true) gave us an estimate of 40 hours of labor at 40.00/hour + materials for a simple project that required him to build 3 kitchen cabinets (2 of which were in corners, so those should have been pretty easy) and to modify a fourth cabinet by making it shorter. He was also to install a stove hood/microwave combination. He also included adding trim molding to cabinets and to the kitchen itself as part of the job. Michael told us that this job was very simple, well within his skill set, and that he'd be in and out in a week without any trouble. I see in his ads that he is now saying that he does not carry insurance, but he told us that he was fully insured. After one day of work, we considered letting him go due to the crookedness of the cabinet he shortened. The next day, he fixed that and began working on the first cabinet he was going to build. After that day of work, there was a frame (no sides, shelves, or bottom) and the pieces of wood making up the cube were all crooked and of different lengths. The cabinet was also not the same depth as the other cabinets in the kitchen. The third day, he came in and I showed him the messy cabinet and he apologized -- and attempted to fix it. I also asked him to replace the soft wood he'd used with hard wood b/c he had used pine on the front face of the cabinet, for some reason. I am not sure why anyone would use a soft wood on the front of a cabinet that would take the most wear and tear. Our other cabinets were hardwood, so his choice of pine did not make any sense at all. The fourth day he built a cabinet for our sink and left screw heads on the surfaces of that cabinet, including the front face of the cabinet. The cabinet was to hold our new expensive farmhouse sink and we wanted a furniture-quality sink cabinet. He cut out a place to hold the sink, but that was asymmetrical and the cabinet was just a sad mess. Clearly, a person with any experience making a cabinet or furniture would never use screws that were visible/level with the front face of the cabinet. The hole he made for the microwave/hood was improperly placed and had to be patched and re-made by a more competent contractor. The venting material he bought was 200.00+ and the wrong size when normal hood venting kits exist and cost only 60.00. He clearly had no idea what he was doing and used our house to attempt to learn how to remodel a kitchen. At the end of a week, we had 3 cabinet skeletons that were shabby and unprofessional looking. This is after a week's work! There was NO SIGN of him being close to finishing the job and the level of workmanship was really an embarrassment. We decided to let him go. In order to have a functional kitchen, his work had to be removed and thrown away and a skilled contractor came in to re-do the whole job. His cabinet skeletons were inconsistent in size, crooked, and were not made in a way that would look nice. Because of his lack of skills, we wasted almost 2000.00 for his week's labor bill and nothing that he did was at all usable. This was a horrible experience. Michael was paid in full for his time and materials, yet we got absolutely nothing in return. Nothing he did was usable and he wasted our time and money. He is clearly not able to make cabinets even though he claimed that he was. I consider his claims to all be very dishonest and his workmanship is well below par. His level of craftsmanship may be on the level of making something for outdoors use (a bench, for example). We are very dismayed and definitely were taken advantage of by Michael. We requested a partial refund and then stopped hearing from Michael. I would not trust him to do anything, ever. He did not do honest work (he also over-charged us for the hours he spent here -- I kept track of when he came and went and he added several hours to his bill compared to the hours he was in our home) and he also had the nerve to charge us for the time he spent redoing his work due to his own mistakes. This is not at all honest or normal for a contractor. DO NOT HIRE

They also carry some common garden plants too. Their grounds carry everything from foundational trees and shrubs to easy growing flowers to veggies and fruits. They also have sections organized by Deer Resistant, Veggies, Shade Shrubs, Sun, Partial Shade, Trees, Partial Shade Flowers, etc. It's easy to find your way around, though the staff will gladly help too. I found their nursery to be sizeable but not overwhelming. As someone who is newer to gardening I thought their signage is some of the best I have ever seen- on every plant variety they have a big sign with its common name, genius, zones, size, sun/shade needs, if the plant is native or not, and unique features, along with clear pricing. The signage was useful in making sure the plants would be happy at my home, though all the plants I looked at seemed fairly robust period. I wound up with some shade loving white wood asters, sun loving sunflowers, and brown-eyed susans. While I'm a newbie gardener I think more experienced gardeners would be happy here too given all the options and knowledge at hand. They do have a big commercial/pickup side and offer landscaping and hardscaping services for those who are interested. I thought car parking was easy but I was also visiting towards the end of the end of a day on a weekday.

The estimate I received from Perfect Painters was the most detailed I've ever seen. A long list of…read morework items made it clear what was included (powerwashing, scraping, etc.). Ron (the owner) included an extensive list of optional add-on work items (more on that later). He also included a number of letters from satisfied customers. I had specifically asked for an estimate for prepping and painting the trim ($4600), but had expressed interest in having the body painted and some carpentry done as well. The numbers were ultimately reasonable enough that I opted for upgrading the paint to Sherwin-Williams Duration ($28/gallon; $700 total), a second coat on the trim ($1400), painting the body ($3000), replacing some siding ($2700), and painting the windows sashes for some accent color ($135). It was about two months after sending in our deposit that the crew was available to start work on the house. Before that Ron's color expert (I forget his name, unfortunately) helped us choose a combination that made sense (for you owners of Arts & Crafts homes, Bungalow Colors by Robert Schweitzer is immensely useful as well). Jacob and Russ did the majority of the painting on our project, and were accompanied by a couple carpenters that handled the siding and woodwork. Jacob was an excellent foreman with a great attention to detail and quality work. The crew arrived early every day and aside from interruption by weather, stuck to our project every working day until everything was finished. The final result was phenomenal. Calling themselves "perfect" painters is hyperbole, of course, but they did do a thorough job and we get a lot of compliments on the work. The quality of the work at a reasonable price (well below other estimates) means we'd happily hire them again.

I was a student and didn't have much income but had savings so instead of verifying income was told if I pay in cash they could work with me. I was asked to pay a security deposit as well as the full 6 months plus a second security deposit in cash up front, which I did the next day. After moving in I ran into several issues: A neighbor flushed something they shouldn't have and it flooded the entire bottom floor of several of the adjoining townhomes. The flooding was gray water and most of the items I had in that area were destroyed because of it. I had renters insurance so I was able to get reimbursed but communicating with the one person staff at heritage was beyond painful. She was completely unprofessional and not helpful at all. The second biggest issue I had was a leak in the second bathroom. I notified the office about it and they sent someone out to fix it. They had to tear apart the walls to do so but said it was fixed. Several weeks later we noticed the leak was starting to soak through the new drywall and notified the office again. They were not as responsive and the leak grew from the bathroom to the kitchen to the bottom floor of the house. They eventually came out to fix the leak again and once again needed to tear the house apart to do so. There were pretty much non stop problems while living at this apartment and I was so happy to end my lease after the 6 months was up. Lastly they did not return my very large security deposit within the 14 days as stated. I would never work with this company again (to rent or paint). They are completely unprofessional and dishonest. Save your money, time and energy and look elsewhere.
