Attention any of you who may be interested, as I am, in urban design movements and planning…read more Habersham is the name of a residential development that embodies the principles known as New Urbanism which is one such movement. The idea behind the New Urbanism philosophy is to create walkable/bikeable, human-scaled neighborhoods whose primary purpose is to foster a sense of community and sustainability. There are a number of New Urbanism communities throughout the United States and Europe now. Perhaps one of the more well-known ones was originally developed by the Walt Disney Company in Celebration Florida. We visited Habersham on our latest trip to SC as we were interested to see what one of these communities looked like up close. Indeed, there is nary a car in sight. What you do see are a lot of well-planned green spaces, a lovely pond, actual walkable sidewalks and an assortment of houses none of which look cutter-cutter. Things were a bit eerily quiet but in fairness it was the middle of a weekday when presumably most people were at work and kids would have been in school. The only sounds we heard were some people mowing the common spaces. It was also incredibly pristine. Nothing looked out of place and so in this regard seemed almost a bit too good to be true. Because New Urbanism philosophy also espouses diversity of housing types we noted there were single family homes of various sizes, townhouses, and loft apartments. There was not a moving car in sight the day we visited other than the one we were driving. We did finally find some parked cars discreetly parked behind the houses so your walking experience would be fairly unaffected by the sight of cars or motorized traffic. There is a central community area that thus far houses a grocery store, post office, dentist's office, restaurants, a pizza place and a shop selling Italian ices. There were a few additional businesses and more planned. Reducing carbon footprints, suburban sprawl, and traffic congestion while fostering a sense of community, easy encounters with neighbors and a sense of personal safety are among the lofty goals New Urbanism sets out to achieve and it looks like Habersham fits the bill in addressing these things. I can also see how a self-contained place like this with lots of planned community events which we saw advertised could lessen the social isolation that is so rampant in many cities and suburbs. While I love the goals of New Urbanism and the way Habersham was laid out, I wondered if this community was perhaps a bit more "perfect" and serene than I could handle day in and day out. Habersham is very pretty and was interesting to see. I believe there is a place for communities like this one which has a lot to commend it. We enjoyed our visit to this community and taking a close-up look at a well-thought out development based on an intriguing design philosophy.

My lease is up at the end of the month, THANK GOD. And I purchased a house. More affordable than this hell hole and no dealing with terrible customer service from Lindsay. I find it interesting her petty and catty ways drives off people who actually pay their rent. And yet attracts people who don't. Two tenants upstairs on the same day both had eviction notices. Funny how I've paid my rent on time, every time, and this place treats you like crap. They don't provide adequate notice for anything. They throw away your personal property, my BBQ that was outside that I had just used. No one is ever in the office. You can't get any assistance. Good luck with packages getting sent to your house you won't be able to get it for a week! This place sucks. Seriously don't move into this hell hole. Its over priced project apartments.

Initially I had read the reviews on here and was super skeptical. I was not going to join my husband until June. His agreed move in date was January 7th. So we made the 14 hour drive to find out his apartment wasn't ready. It was an annoyance but an honest error. The maintenance crew, cleaning woman and the office staff really got in there and got it ready for us. They went above and beyond to make it perfect. The week that he moved in, I observed so many children outside playing. The neighbors were super friendly and helpful. We knew nothing about the area so everyone gave us great tips for getting around the area. The complex is set back away from the hustle and bustle and is really quiet and calm. The outside corridors are a little less to be desired but that's due to the elements and people smoking outside. It's definitely not a deal breaker. Some folks didn't clean up after their pets but again, the property managers can't be held at fault for that. My husbands unit overlooks a lagoon/marshes and is absolutely breathtaking at sunset. It's 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms on the backside away from the parking lot. The living areas are pretty large except for the kitchen. Yes, there needs to be upgraded appliances and fixtures but for the value, we are totally happy with his choice to rent here. Myself and my children came down to visit last week for winter break and the kids loved it. They played outside every afternoon and make some nice friends. The office staff is really truly helpful and will help in anyway they can. The only thing I can suggest to future renters; be patient and be fair. Ask questions ahead of time to really get an idea of what you're in for. If you want a great value for a great area, this is it.

We didn't know anything about the process and didn't want to manage our own rental. For Rent in Beaufort made the process a breeze. We didn't hear a peep about our renters and our home was kept in immaculate shape. They are super responsive and helped in many ways.. helping us through the inspection process, minor repairs, coordinating services while we were away, receiving shipments of supplies for the home, ensuring everything was in tip top shape between rentals. We sold our 1st rental and purchased another and went right back to For Rent in Beaufort since we were so happy with their services. Highly recommend!!

We rented an apartment from For Rent in Beaufort between May 11-13, 2024 for a Mother's Day weekend…read moregetaway with my wife and my parents. The apartment was cute though the rennovation work was clearly DIY (LVP gaps, missing trimwork, gaps between tile and walls not covered, etc.). We were fine with it since the price was reasonable. The issues we did have, however, were 1) the internet was not working, 2) the coffee maker was not working, and 3) the management company was not very professional. We arrived on Saturday and I had to log into work after driving several hours to get there due to some pressing business. However, no where in the apartment were there any instructions about what the wifi name is much less the password for logging on. Seems like a pretty standard "must-have" for an STR, especially since the TV ran off a Fire Stick. There was contact information for the management company so I texted them for the wifi details, which they did provide but after connecting to the wifi, the internet still wasn't working, not even on the TV. After a couple of hours of searching the apartment (every cabinet, closet, furniture, etc.) and texting back and forth with FRIB, the agent finally tells us that the wifi router is in the unit below us (I mentioned from the start of the conversation that we were in unit 2, which is upstairs). Fortunately, it was not rented so I was able to get access and reset the router. A few hours wasted that didn't need to be, but which also caused us to miss our planned activities for the evening. Whatever, was willing to let it slide, but then the next morning we find out the coffee maker is not working. We Googled the instruction manual, even watched YouTube videos for it in case there was some new-fangled trick to it. Never got it working so we went out for breakfast and when we got back to the apartment that evening, I texted FRIB again and let them know the coffee maker wasn't working. Again, there was some back and forth texting in which it was mentioned the coffee maker was new and should be working, so the next day we tried again. Again, it would not work. Again we texted. This time she mentions that the coffee maker is broken but there should also be a Keurig next to the coffee maker. I reminded her that the ad said a coffee maker and not a Keurig (Keurigs are not as common as regular coffee makers and require single serve pods, which unless you have one, you won't have the pods and certainly would not want to buy a pack of them for one weekend). I also reminded her that the kitchen was stocked with regular ground coffee, not K-pods. There was no apology. No offer to run over some pods, or a working coffee pot, or give some money back for the (now repeated) troubles. Nothing. Not even a response a week later. Based on the profile pictures on their website, it appears this company is run by a couple of kids with a dream and no experience (not in STR management, customer service, nor in professionalism). We originally had reservations at the Best Western, which was actually cheaper, but thought it would be nice to have us in one place where we could wake up, have coffee and breakfast together, etc. Instead, we spent half the weekend waiting for the non-coffee drinkers to wake up so we could get the heck out of there and find some coffee (and food), negating the whole reason we cancelled the hotel and opted for a STR.

let me start off by saying RENTERS BEWARE…read more.. My wife and I sold our home and while our new home was being built we took out a 3 month lease. 90 days. It was already expensive for 3 months. $2400 to be exact, for a one bed room apartment. Anyway we had no choice. We moved in and spent 3 days cleaning the place because it was absolutely filthy. We took that on the chin. We were told about pest control. non-existent, between rodents outside all around the perimeter and the amount of spiders, roaches, flys, and mosquitoes that made there way inside. We kept reminding each other this wasn't permanent. One night we were locked out because everything is electronic no hard key. My wife (who at this time is nearly 7 months pregnant) was calling the emergency after hours maintenance. With no answer after no answer after no answer. with our two dogs inside, i was forced to break into our apartment, so i can calm them down and make sure my wife can get food, water, and bathroom. Another incident we took on the chin. At long last. it's time to move out. We spent time cleaning our apartment so there would be no issues. I mean mopping, vacuuming, I even brought our carpet cleaner to wash the bedroom carpet. (Not bc our dogs, they had zero accidents in this place) Well well well. because we didn't give them 60 days notice on a 90 day lease, why else would I take out a 90 day lease when 12 and 18 months were available. They told us we still need to pay for all of October and half rent for November. There goes our deposit. UNLESS, they found someone to rent our apartment. They had the nerve to send us a survey. Which my wife explained all of this and how it's unfair. They reached out saying, they found someone. As long as they moved in by a specific date we'd get half months rent back plus our deposit. Sweet we have hope. Well the date comes and goes. We hear nothing. We assume (that's our fault For assuming) everything is good. We reach out about getting our money back and BAM. The renter failed to show. (I wonder why ) Back to us on owing full months rent plus another half month. Well now here I am. My wife and I hurting for money, with a two week old, a new home which we paid rent on this crappy apartment and a mortgage on. It's holiday season that aside whatever. It's our baby boy we care about. if you think we're the only ones that they robbed. You'd be very mistaken. I spoke to a friend who moved out around the same time and the same exact situation. deposit gone and some outrageous cleaning fee. Reached out to a few others who moved out this past year and they all seem to have the same issues. They'll keep doing this bc people will be forced to eat this money bc a legal team will cost more. PLEASE BE AWARE!!! EDIT: We were told to reach out to the regional manager. She was very understanding. There was a lot of miscommunication, we are getting our deposit back. That's all we could ask for to get us through the rest of this month.
