A Walk Through IKEA: A Test of Stamina, Direction, and Job Flexibility…read more January 10, 2026 My first serious trip to IKEA made me realize that this is not just a furniture store. It's a carefully designed one-way journey. The layout is extremely thoughtful--so thoughtful that it's almost impossible to visit just one section. Whether you're there to buy a single mug or simply "have a look," you will be guided through the entire store. I managed to do even better than that. I got lost. Not only did I get lost, I walked part of it twice. The most important detail: I was wearing four-inch stilettos. In IKEA, those are not shoes. They're a personal challenge. After what felt like a full hike, I finally reached the exit and thought I was done. That's when the real test began - checkout. Most stores at least give you options: self-checkout or cashier-assisted checkout. IKEA is very decisive. Self-checkout only. So there I was, scanning items, bagging them myself, slowly realizing I had taken on a new role. The screen even politely asked: "Are you a member?" I couldn't help laughing. I had just become a temporary cashier, without an employee discount, and without a paycheck. And then came the final surprise. At the exit - nothing. At Costco, for example, there's always someone checking receipts. At IKEA, the exit is completely empty. For a moment, you might think this reflects IKEA's deep trust in its customers. Then another thought occurs to you: maybe they also saved the salary of that employee. By the end of this IKEA trip, I had completed: a full-store walk, a detour with repetition, a high-heel endurance test, a self-checkout internship, and a quiet reflection on trust and cost control. Next time, I'll wear flat shoes. As for the salary and staff discount - I won't get my hopes up. I spent $53.69 in total that day. $29.95 went to pear-flavored sparkling water. Which means over half of my IKEA budget was... hydration. IKEA: where your legs get a workout, your patience is tested, and your self-checkout skills improve... all in one visit. I guess I overestimated my ability to wear high heels. I may have slightly overestimated my high-heel endurance. In hindsight, I clearly overestimated my ability to survive IKEA in high heels. I confidently assumed I could handle high heels at IKEA. I was wrong.

Walking through Blocker's Furniture felt like stepping into a grand equestrian estate in Ocala. The…read morepieces are bold, oversized, and substantial. Thick wood. Heavy frames. Furniture that commands a room and assumes the room is enormous. If you own a sprawling ranch or a large estate and want your home to reflect that scale, this store will probably feel like a perfect match. The craftsmanship leans traditional and weighty. It is designed to make a statement. But I realized something about myself while I was there. I have already lived through the era of massive, heavy furniture. I have owned the pieces that required multiple people to move. I have designed around size and permanence. I am not in that chapter anymore. These days, I want light. I want bright. I want airy. I want pieces that feel flexible, cheerful, and easy to live with. Furniture that does not feel like a lifelong commitment. Furniture I can move myself if I need to. Furniture I can let go of without stress if life shifts. That is not a criticism of Blocker's. It is perspective. If your lifestyle calls for grand, solid, impressive pieces that anchor a large home, especially in Ocala's equistrian ranch culture, you will likely love what they offer. If you are in a season of simplicity, mobility, and lighter living, you may find yourself admiring the scale while realizing you want something different for where you are now. Perspective changes. And that is okay.

I think I have an addiction to Home Goods Stores all over Florida... especially this one !…read more Well... several purchases later... I can say... I have had nothing but good experiences with all the staff and the store manager at this location. I purchased the two cabinets that you see in the photos that are on the first (primary) photo page for their business. They were damaged and I purchased them at a sweet deal price. The damages are not immediately noticeable. Since then.. I have been back several times... as my addiction keeps bringing me back. You never know what's sitting on the shelves... especially the Decorative Accent section... sometimes you can SCORE big!

I thoroughly enjoyed being able to actually walk through the isles ( 1 or 2 cartwheels) the isles were not so over stocked with items on the floor, or here or over there. I was able to actually see every item being displayed. I have been looking for crystals and rocks for so long and just about forgot about what I had been wanting , but then coming here I soon understood why nobody else has anything! They have so many crystals and so many different kinds of rocks and crystals and rocks! Prices are outstanding too! Not much of a "kids section" , but who cares they have entire other stores. Home decor is plenty and if you have any questions comments or concerns, worry not, their staff is always watching and ready for you every single step and turn you make! I look forward to emptying my bank account here every chance I get! :) GO VISIT YOURSELF!

SERIOUSLY... RECONSIDER USING THIS COMPANY!!!! BUYERS…read moreBEWARE!!!!!! I had a very bad experience with this company. From the first day right on through the present, 2 years later. I am still fighting to get my cabinets done properly. I have a cabinet that was broken from day one. The installer promised to fix it and never did. The doors are warped and don't close properly. The light rail is also warped. I contacted the store only to get a run around for months and from one manager to another to another in the Port Orange, FL store. They can't seem to keep managers long enough to see a project through to the end. I tried contacting the owner, to no avail. The company sent out someone to inspect the warped doors and light rails a year plus later. He took pictures and sent them back to one of the managers showing the defects. Finally, after 2 years, the store ordered new doors and light rail but wanted me to pay the new installers to install the product. I should not have to pay for a defective product. The company is blaming the original installers for the warped product. They told me I needed to contact the original installers to install the replacement parts. The company is not standing behind the workers they hired. The company is doing everything in their power to not correct my issues unless I pay additional money. They also ordered the wrong granite countertop. I complained immediately but got nowhere. In addition, they bullnosed the granite countertop in my house without putting up protection for my house. It took me months to clean up all the granite dust. I went to the store countless times, called countless times, only to be brushed off each and every time. This list of issues just goes on and on and on. Now, we are in small claims over the issues. I had to give a least a 1 star, however, I would not give any.

The work is shoddy at best. I have an unfinished bathroom and they refuse to give me a refund for trim that I don't have that the contractor refuses to finish and that probably won't fit due to their negligence. Tom Marina is the owner. I have requested to speak to him but doubt that will ever happen. Please, I beg you, stay away. This was at the St. Augustine store, but I think Port Orange and Ocala are just as bad as I have seen bad reviews for all of them and Christina now works at the Port Orange store. My sister's vanity wasn't even installed properly and she had to wait another week for them to come back. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!
