On this particular day we were out searching for a dining table + chars and they had a pretty good sale going on. 20% off, plus another 15% over the weekend, only. We walked in and were greeted by Duane within about 30 seconds. Not overbearing, which I appreciated. He was informative and available if we needed him. We spent about 30 minutes in the store, unbothered by other staff members, and had the ability to look around without being pressured. They had a couple of nice things we took pictures of, but ultimately left because this was our first stop of four. Duane gave us his business card. A super nice guy and I'm sure he would have been great to work with. We ended up finding the same dining table Ashley wanted $1349 for at another, local furniture shop for $679. I kid you not. I assume Ashley's bloated prices are thanks to high commissions and their crazy advertising costs. I hear that you can actually negotiate at Ashley, but I'm not sure we would have wanted to. They do have a clearance section and other houseware items like decor pieces and accents. I recommend stopping, but do your research before committing. The gimmicky sale prices actually bring the merchandise down to the prices you should be paying to begin with (in my opinion). read more

When I'm sitting in a stupidly comfy couch that I want for Netflix-binging and a pushy salesman walks up, looks at the $1000 tag then says "hmm, I'll give it to you for $920," I always have to hold back my applause. Dear Mr. Salesman, are you a magician? Can you do it again - look at a price tag and make it go down? No? Why then, for the love of all comfy couches out there, is the actual price not listed on the price tag? Isn't that the whole point of a price tag, so I can go about my shopping at my own pace? The problem to me is that furniture companies know how to print and hang price tags, they just don't know what the true *point* of that price tag really is. (...google search "Seinfeld Car Reservation" if this rant doesn't sounds familiar :D ) This is why I generally buy new furniture online, because I'm much happier forgoing the pushiness and mind games. BUT I digress. Searching for a living room couch that's more comfy than it is stylish (because you can never have both), I decided I couldn't buy this one online. I've had terrible experiences at a couple furniture stores in Iowa City, so I set off to Ashley HomeStore in Cedar Rapids. Upon walking in, salesman Mike greeted my husband and I, then asked what we were looking for. I explained that we wanted a couch that's 1) super-duper-extra-comfy, and 2) isn't an ugly behemoth. Mike pointed us in a general direction and then... he walked away! *initiate happy dance* It was so refreshing to shop without an uninvited chaperone; Mike checked in on us just enough to answer our questions but he never hovered. In the end we were so happy with the overall experience and prices, that we bought a love seat to pair with the couch we picked and tacked on the warranty program to cover the motion recliners. The prices were much more affordable than I was expecting and I appreciated the transparency of materials used to construct the couches (ie. the leather types - there's nothing worse than thinking you bought genuine leather than to find out two years later that you in fact did not). Great shopping experience, and was told my couch had to be special ordered and sent to the store. I was told multiple times in person and over the phone that it would take two weeks to be sent to the store and delivered. I called two weeks later and they said it would be another week. I move into my new place, and here I am a week later, no phone call from anyone notifying me of its arrival at the store (after the told me 3 times they would), and now I have to wait yet ANOTHER week for delivery. Another trip to Ashley!! I bought a fabulous cooling mattress and fabulous mattress cover several weeks ago and I am so happy! Last week I took my elderly mother to Ashley as she has been needing a new mattress. She is thrilled with her purchase and she also bought a fabulous mattress cover. I first experienced Ashley mattresses as that what my parents have in their guest room and I always sleep well on those!! Ask for Duane in the mattress dept. Very disappointed in all the furniture we purchased from here. We bought dining room set, living room set and bedroom set. We have had them for only six months and they are not holding up. My sons dresser is not closing correctly, the dining room table; a decorative metal piece fell off the table, the chair cushions are not comfortable anymore and the legs of the chairs are loose and the wood is wearing on the living room coffee table. Something is starting to poke through my leather love seat now too on the top of it. I take very good care of my stuff so I know it's not us. I really wish this wasn't the case. I liked it when I purchased it or I wouldn't have bought it. But apparently they are for looks in a showroom only. Not for use of any kind because they will fall apart. read more

Don't buy from Ashley Home Store in Cedar Rapids if you want the furniture in any decent time frame. I ordered and paid for furniture on 10/8/19 and still don't have it! I've called multiple times, been lied to and transferred to shipping when they know full well you can't schedule the item to be shipped until it arrives! (which is another 2-3 weeks for shipping!) I called to speak with the manager, he was busy with a customer! It has been over 1 week and I still haven't heard from them. I was told on 12/5 my item would be here in 10 days. Well it is 12/27 and still nothing. I was refunded $50 for my troubles! I will never shop from them again! read more

It took me almost 2 months to get a bed frame and mattress I ordered, which pissed me off pretty royally, but the delivery guys were very nice and did a great job setting my stuff up when it FINALLY came. I do like the furniture itself. I would recommend it if you want to wait forever for it. I purchased thousands of dollars of furniture. Notified the store I had an issue with the reclining mechanism on a 'recliner chair' and both sides of a 'reclining couch'. Took weeks before their sub-contracted 'techs' could inspect/photograph and submit report. -Kind of figured it would be bad when the tech informed me the reclining mechanism can only be adjusted if it is a La-Z-Boy brand who 'holds the patent to an adjustable reclining mechanism' and since mine was not that brand they could not do anything. Now, still after three weeks and over 6 phone calls to the manager of the Cedar Rapids, IA store since the tech's visit, he has not returned any of my calls. (Nothing makes one feel more important than getting the impression: 'Hey, let's wait them out until they contractually run out of time so it is no longer our responsibility). In summary: Beautiful flashy store that takes forever to get your items in. In my case items were late, (by weeks) and extremely beyond sub-par when they finally arrived, They shrug responsibility and/or deflect any way they can when there is an issue. Add insult to injury: A salesman with a filthy mouth felt comfortable enough to share his chauvinistic, crude and demeaning jokes while he followed me through 3/4 of the entire store. (Tip: Throw a little shot of respect in whatever it is he was drinking. -Or better yet: That man simply needs a bar of soap in his mouth.) Lesson learned: ... Shop elsewhere - and purchase La-Z-Boy furniture if possible. Don't waste thousands of your hard earned dollars on junk with no customer service like I just did. read more

While the salesman who ordered my dresser was kind, the experience of receiving said dresser, has been disastrous. I was told that it would take 6-8 weeks to have my dresser delivered to me. Once it was at the warehouse, I would receive a call to schedule a delivery date. After seven weeks of not hearing anything, I decided to call myself. I found out my dresser had been sitting in the warehouse waiting for me to magically schedule its delivery. Once I scheduled a delivery date, I was told I would be able to pick the time frame of its delivery. Some days later, I receive a message that preset a delivery time for the middle of my work day. I decided to let this one roll off and arranged for my roommates to greet the delivery people. When the day of delivery happens, the delivery people do not bother to go into my open building, up to my apartment. Instead they wait outside, calling me, while I'm at work, and then decide to leave. The customer service rep was less than understanding and would not reschedule my delivery for over a week later. I will receive my dresser, if the delivery team does not continue to make errors, 10 weeks after I paid for and ordered it. I will never purchase anything from this company again. The utter lack of respect for customer's, their schedules, and their wanting to have their items in the timeframe promised, is ridiculous and quite frankly, very disappointing. read more

We were told our couch would be in within 2-3 weeks and if we had not called we would never had heard from them that it is now going to be closer to 6-7 weeks. We have called consistently and they either avoid our calls or do not call back. We will not shop here again. On Sept 17th my husband and I just closed on our new home and wanted new beds and furniture. The sales lady was great she got us all set up. 3 beds 2 recliners and a sleeper. They called who ever it was to schedule the delivery. The person I spoke to gave me the date after Thanksgiving. So we planned to move that weekend. The recliners and Sleeper we were told would take about 6 weeks. They said it is usually 4 weeks though. So Black Friday came. We packed and was moving as we waited for the call for when they were going to come. No call came. So we called to find out what time. To our dismay they said that our delivery date for beds was not till Dec 1st. they told me that Dec 1st was put in there system on the 20th. Problem with that we did not talk to no one on the 20th from Ashley HomeStore. We managed to get 2 of the 3 beds that day but we had to pick them up. and pick the 3rd one up on Nov 30th. We just had 4 week pass and are now heading to the 5th week. We still sit with no living room furniture, and Guest coming Friday Dec 22nd and Mon Dec 25th. I'm very disappointed. I have no place for our guest to sit. Ashley's should not sell stuff if they cant get it to their customers is a decent time frame. At this point if I would of known on the 17th of Nov that we would have this much issues we would of went else where. Sad part we don't even get part of our Delivery charge refunded as we had to pick up part of the order. Bought a queen bed 11/25/16. Salesman said it would be in store for pick up on 12/1/16 (that's what was on the ticket). Called on the first and found out it was not in and was on back order at least a couple more weeks. On DEC 8 I got a text from the salesman saying bed was over-sold and he wasn't sure when it would come in. I found another one online at Ashley and asked him about the availability. He said he didn't have it at this store and likely a couple of weeks out. I told him to cancel the order and credit my card the amount that was charged. Today, 12/29/16 my card bill shows up with the furniture charge but no credit. I texted him again asking what's up. He said he'd look into it. No reply so I went to the store and told the young lady at the front desk. The order was never cancelled! She said it would be taken care of tomorrow when the store manager gets in. With service like that I'll order from just about anybody but Ashley. read more

very poor customer service.we spent 3800 hundred dollars there eas told a week to 2 weeks for deliver .the bed came 3 weeks later the recliner was gonna be 32 days .we finally got fed up and told them come and get there bed and screw there chair ALL THEY DO IS GIVE YOU EXCUSES.the bed is awesome but it was installed wrong .its an adjustable bed and when you raised the head or feet it would slide 8 to 12 inches .id rather go to a store that wants and appreciates my business .please pass on this review . read more

I would never suggest Ashley Furniture to anyone I know. We had the absolute worst customer service I have ever seen. We spent almost $3000 on living room furniture that we were told would come in 2 weeks. WE called when the two weeks were up to see what time it would be delivered and they told us, the couches aren't in yet, and it would be delivered the following week. So a week passes, again WE have to call them, just to find out it "might" be coming the next week. We have waited for a month now on living room furniture that was only suppose to take 2 weeks, and it is still only a possibility that it will come next week. I called to voice my frustrations and explain that not once were we given a courtesy call to tell us that our furniture would not be coming when we ordered it, and that we keep getting told the wrong date for delivery. I told the salesman that I would be reluctant to ever buy furniture here again, and his response was, "Well I guess that is your solution then ma'am, go complain to your friends about your bad experience." I would HIGHLY suggest not wasting your time and money on a company that so clearly does not care for the best interest of the customer. read more
