The last time I saw her for color, I told Jenn my toner looked different from my last appointment. It clearly did, but didn't look "bad" as I expressed to Jenn - I could tell she was super offended. Then she starts blaming me. "Are you taking medicine? "No" then it was my hormones from having a baby. I said, "She's 7 months old and last time 8 weeks ago and previous appointments my hair looked great" LOL she was pulling every possible card because she couldn't dare make a mistake. She said she could fix on another day. I texted Jenn 20 minutes after leaving the salon if I could come in for her to put a different toner on my hair. She told me to find another hairdresser and reimbursed me!? What's crazy is I never complained because I had no reason and I certainly wouldn't keep coming back for 2 years. I never knew this about her. Unprofessional! Everyone should feel comfortable with their hairdresser to speak freely. HEADS UP...if you don't like your color/cut get ready for the boot! Insane you can't have your own opinion about your hair without hurting her ego. Looking forward to a new stylist. This review is for the Zapien's Salon at Lake Oconee. I assume the Zapien's in Atlanta is…read moresubstantially the same. What is Zapien's like? On the one hand, it is like coming to see friends. On the other hand, it is like stepping through a door and into a fashion show, complete with models, excited chatter, and glamor. In short, it has a terrific ambiance. When I enter, I check in at the desk. They remember my name. They bring me coffee and remember how I like it. There is not much waiting; Norman, who is both my stylist and the owner, comes up front to get me within a couple of minutes after I arrive. A Zapien's stylist doesn't begin with coloring or cutting. Instead, the stylist looks the client over like Michelangelo examining a new model. The stylist determines features that need emphasizing or de-emphasizing, the optimal shape and length for the hair, and (if the customer wants color, as I do), the optimal color. Then, the stylist discusses his or her impressions with the client. The stylist and client agree, and then the artistry begins. There's no need to go into the details of a cut and color. Suffice it to say that many people (the stylist, the color assistant, the wash assistant, the scheduler, and so on) have a role in helping the client, every one of them knows what they are doing, and every one of them executes to perfection. Zapien's is about more than hair: it is about making the client look and feel great. As one example, I have always had a ruddy complexion. I asked Norman whether he had any suggestions for hiding the redness. He looked me over (Michelangelo again) and gave me a suggestion I had never thought of. It was a Godsend: it worked perfectly. I will sum my experiences up like this: How good is Zapien's? So good that I start looking forward to my appointment three days before it is scheduled. I highly recommend.
