The road to color correction is a tough one but Amanda did a wonderful job getting me going in the right direction! When I came in this morning, I had ash brown roots and extremely faded pink/red hair (not to mention the dying, broken ends) Now I have a rich brown color and happy ends! It's a friendly, professional environment, I will definitely be back when it's time for maintenance. read more

Zapien's Salon - Atlanta - Before and after: Amanda got me back to a much more natural color and silky ends :) - Hair Salons Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

This review is for the Zapien's Salon at Lake Oconee. I assume the Zapien's in Atlanta is substantially the same. What is Zapien's like? On the one hand, it is like coming to see friends. On the other hand, it is like stepping through a door and into a fashion show, complete with models, excited chatter, and glamor. In short, it has a terrific ambiance. When I enter, I check in at the desk. They remember my name. They bring me coffee and remember how I like it. There is not much waiting; Norman, who is both my stylist and the owner, comes up front to get me within a couple of minutes after I arrive. A Zapien's stylist doesn't begin with coloring or cutting. Instead, the stylist looks the client over like Michelangelo examining a new model. The stylist determines features that need emphasizing or de-emphasizing, the optimal shape and length for the hair, and (if the customer wants color, as I do), the optimal color. Then, the stylist discusses his or her impressions with the client. The stylist and client agree, and then the artistry begins. There's no need to go into the details of a cut and color. Suffice it to say that many people (the stylist, the color assistant, the wash assistant, the scheduler, and so on) have a role in helping the client, every one of them knows what they are doing, and every one of them executes to perfection. Zapien's is about more than hair: it is about making the client look and feel great. As one example, I have always had a ruddy complexion. I asked Norman whether he had any suggestions for hiding the redness. He looked me over (Michelangelo again) and gave me a suggestion I had never thought of. It was a Godsend: it worked perfectly. I will sum my experiences up like this: How good is Zapien's? So good that I start looking forward to my appointment three days before it is scheduled. I highly recommend. read more

Amanda at zapiens is amazing. I'm new to the area so I tried her out with the Groupon and i am so happy i did. She had amazing reviews and it's no wonder why. I really did my research before choosing her and I can't be more thankful to have had her as my stylist. Amanda cares about what you want done to your hair and listens. She truly wants her clients to be happy. Not to mention she did a phenomenal job making me blonde and even curling my hair out after. I will definitely be back to her for my styling needs and honestly would recommend anyone and everyone to her- she's simply the best. We didnt take any before / after pics so I just included some where u can see the difference. Hope this helps!! read more

I love this place and Amanda is Brilliant!!!! I always trust that she will make my hair gorgeous. Ive finally found my forever salon

I first visited Zapien's when I was still living in Atlanta. I wanted to add some highlights to my dark Asian hair and wanted to try out a new place. I found Zapien's while perusing Groupon and gave Amanda a shot. She is WONDERFUL. Talk about skills in dealing with dark, dye resistant hair. She was able to add dimensions to my hair without damaging it. Even though I now live a state away, I made time to go back to her to get my hair done when I wanted another change to my hair. Amanda is not only a skilled hair wizard who keeps it real, but she is also warm and personable. The rest of the team at Zapien's are very friendly and customer oriented. They always make sure you're comfortable. The sweet owner always offers you drinks and snacks. read more

Norman first cut my hair when I was 15. When I was 21, he suggested I'd make a good redhead, and mixed up a henna, which gave me the perfect auburn mop of curls. I've been a redhead ever since. I live in NYC, and just found him again when I was in town - and now, that's it: only Norman is cutting my hair. I missed my last appointment because I was helping my Mom move- and so it's way overdue for a cut - and it STILL looks amazing. I have never seen anyone who can cut curly hair like he can. The whole salon is friendly - and they have a real passion for their work. read more

I am so grateful to Groupon for introducing me to this gem of a salon in Buckhead. You know you're in for a great experience when you walk in and your stylist tells you that they are offering free manicures courtesy of the nail salon next door in honor of Valentine's day... The space is bright and very open with the styling chairs situated around the room in a semi circle, and walls of mirrors lining the walls. Eric is absolutely fabulous. He has so much hair wisdom, he's as pleasant as can be, and he made me love my hair again (after a not-so-nice perm experience at a salon in Maryland a few months back). I explained to him exactly what I didn't like about my hair (too frizzy, difficult to straighten, weak), and he offered some great tips about how to treat it and make it better. He did a moisturizing treatment and partial foil highlight, and he made my hair look much healthier than when I walked in. Although the regular services are a bit pricey, I feel like it will definitely be worth it to go back and see Eric! read more

Norman cut my hair and he did a fantastic job. I love my new hair! The service was great and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. read more

I went to Amanda to get silvery blonde/very light lavender hair (my hair is naturally thick and dark brown). She is the only stylist who was able to blend both my natural color and this new bright color with highlights, plus it isn't brassy in the slightest (which always happens with my hair). She ended up making a mastermind cocktail of hair dye and lavender toner to take out the brassy undertones! She also recommended an affordable brand of shampoo and conditioner on amazon to keep the color longer. Amanda is amazing and I will go back to her again and again! read more

Purchased a Groupon deal Amanda at Zapien's was offering and I am very happy with the results. I wanted to get my cut and colored. I went from being a brunette to dark red with gold highlights. Amanda was very professional, warm and welcoming and gave me the look I was hoping to achieve. The whole staff at Zapien's were accommodating and friendly, they definitely made me feel at home. They are tucked away down the street from the Wholefoods market in Buckhead. If you're in the market for a new salon do check them out! read more

AMANDA is a mastermind! I was a stylist myself which makes me very particular in how my blonde pulls :) She honestly has my hair in the best shape it has ever been & my blonde hair never been prettier. I mean that! She is thorough, efficient & beyond TALENTED. SO glad I stumbled upon Zapien's. This is my second time back since June! Thank you Amanda!! read more

I first visited Melissa because of a deal I purchased. She treated me as if I had paid full price. I have purchased many deals for highlights and haircuts over the last four years as I have been searching for a stylist in Atlanta. This was, by far, the best experience I have had! She gave me the most natural highlights I have ever had, anywhere. She is very customer service oriented - cares deeply about the results and her customers' satisfaction. I have since returned once for a touch up and was thrilled with the way she worked with me to give me the look I want for the price I can afford. Time in her chair is a complete joy. She has a gift! Also, I should mention that everyone in the salon is very professional and friendly. I have finally found my Atlanta salon! read more

Followed the amazing Charles Farlow to this salon and was delighted on my first visit. The salon is bright, cheerful and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Charles treated my hair with the George Michael Deep Conditioning Protein treatment for my 3rd time and my hair is loving it! I have become a walking billboard for Charles since I get compliments on my hair all the time now. I've even had friends tell me "what are you doing to your hair? It looks fabulous!". If you want long healthy hair, the George Michael Conditioning treatment every 3 months with Charles is a must! Charles is the only one in Atlanta that is trained in this system of hair treatment. read more

I've been looking for a new salon since moving to Buckhead, and this morning I found it! Michael came highly recommended and he was fantastic! He knew exactly what I wanted and he did not disappoint. I felt like I was home and where I was supposed to be from the minute I walked in the door. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Norman, the owner, was so very nice too! Thanks Michael for a great haircut and suggesting new hair products that I love! read more

AMANDA is amazing!!!! The salon is beautiful and the owner knows his stuff! Very knowledgeable stylists. I was looking for a go to hair salon in the Buckhead area where I live so I resorted to Groupon. I am SOOO GLAD I DID! I found my spot. My hair cut was perfect and Amanda is so sweet. She is very talented. I will be back :) read more

Deanna is amazing ! I am very picky when it comes to my hair. Deanna is super talented. She takes the time to listen to what you want and then makes it happen. Amanda did an incredible job on my cut. I've been getting nonstop compliments! She was extremely professional and took her time to ensure I got exactly what I was looking for. Probably the best experience I've had at a salon in my 4.5 years here in ATL. I would definitely return! read more

Zapien's Salon - Atlanta - Gorgeous cut by Amanda! - Hair Salons Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

I recently had my hair colored and hi-lited with an amazing blow out. Melissa is so sweet and gentle. I have fine hair and she thoroughly consulted with me about my hair and any previously color treatments I had done. My color looks fab! She really nailed exactly what I wanted, and so many people have complimented my hair. Book an appointment with Melissa if you want an affordable and fabulous experience at Zapien's! read more

I did buy the Groupon, but I was also referred by a friend who sees Melissa regularly. I was able to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time (~1 week), the salon has ample parking, easy to find, the staff was really nice when I scheduled, etc. Melissa was great! She talked to me for a good 10 minutes before she even washed my hair to make sure she new what I was expecting and she told me what she thought would work and what wouldn't. We made a "game plan" for my hair over the next few months, because I'm trying to grow out a previous, bad haircut. Overall, I was really impressed with Melissa and the salon. I met the owner, Norman, as well. He was very nice! He let me know they're open late during the week, offered me coffee, and was even sweeping the floor! I will definitely be back! read more

I've gone to a lot of salons throughout the years but Norman Zapien is the best . His color is gorgeous and his cuts artistry. There are people I've known for years that don't know I color my hair. (Ummmm, really??) Had my hair done today, am obsessed ! ! read more

I also bought the Groupon from Amanda and I appreciated how she took the time to get to know me (and my hair) before beginning chopping & highlighting. Very happy with the results and will definitely be going back! read more

Eric is THE best. It's really hard to find someone who understands how Asian hair works (even I can't stand how fickle my hair is every day). I only get my hair cut by Eric because he understands what look I'm going for every time. He's very patient and makes me feel at ease that it'll turn out great, and he even gives suggestions on how to make it look better with my hair type/face shape. I've never been disappointed! read more

Gorgeous haircut and color from Melissa - one of the best I've had in ages, highly recommended. The reception desk customer service is not the highest which is why only 4 star. read more

I found an ad on Half Off Depot for services with Melissa Purvis so I contacted her. I mentioned the Half Off deal to schedule an appointment. The first time she said she was busy and said she'd call back, but never did. So I called back later and it went to voicemail. She never called back. I understand that you may be busy, but that is horrible customer service, before your customer even sets foot into the salon. A customer should never have to chase the provider. There are plenty of other salons in Atlanta. I guess your business is doing well and you don't need more clients. Nonetheless, your actions are a bad reflection on your business ethics and consideration of future customers. I would never go here. Don't bother calling Melissa Purvis because she will cut you off and never call you back. read more

I had hoped that the color wasn't as bad as I thought it was, but after getting my friends' opinions, I ended up getting color correction at another salon. Also, the cut wasn't great either. It didn't seem as bad at first, but it didn't grow out well, and whatever the stylist did to "add texture" to the layers seems to have damaged the hair. read more

If I could I would give a negative one review for this salon! If you have any sense you will not purchase this Groupon (please save your money) b/c they will give you HORRIBLE customer service. I purchased the Groupon and was treated inferior by the receptionist. After booking a color and cut with no problem and being asked, I said I have a Groupon then got the "oh" please hold! He came back on the line and somehow the colorist AND stylist I had just booked with wasn't available for my set appointment. I was given a horrible time mid week. I explained I worked and was unable to come in at that time, I was then booked for a colorist and stylist on on my original date different time, 3:00pm. On Sat I get a call an hour and 15 minutes before my appointment saying I they couldn't take me today, no options on seeing someone b/c I wasn't a regular client. HORRIBLE customer service, HORRIBLE! Trust me you will only be disappointed by them calling an hour and 1/2 before the appointment the day of saying they can't take you unless you are a regular! I called the salon back 3 times that day and received no answer, I am wondering if they have caller ID. read more

Norman, Amanda, Eric, Jeremy - you are all wonderful. Norman is the most wonderful stylist ever! Love, love, love. Also located in Greensboro. read more

WOW WOW WOW. I have been struggling to find a great colorist for years. My image is my job and hair color and cut is very important. Deanna Stanfeild at Zapiens was the first person who actually got it right THE FIRST TIME. We had a quick consultation and that is all she needed. On top of that, everyone that works there makes you feel immediately at home. The owner always remembers me and makes it a point to come and say hello. This is the best salon in Atlanta in my opinion and I would recommend it to EVERYONE. These hair stylist really are artists. read more

My experience at Zapien's Salon was PERFECT!! Eric worked wonders with the less than perfect haircut that I arrived with and we are working toward a great new look. Everyone in the salon is very friendly. the atmosphere is unpretentious (unusual for a Buckhead salon), no loud music and the salon is spotlessly clean. read more

Fabulous staff, cuts, and always a really fun time !

I have been going to this salon for almost 2 years and always have a great experience. Amanda is awesome and really knows her stuff. She always listens to what I want and talks through how we can make it happen. She also anticipates how the cut might need to be tweaked to look as fresh as possible for a long time. Each time I go, Norman makes me feel like family and stops to check in. Love them! read more

I just went to this salon after purchasing a groupon deal for a $29 haircut. I read the fine print in which it stated there would be an additional fee for hair longer than shoulder length for COLOR. Nowhere did it mention an additional fee for cut. The stylist Melissa flatly said it applied for cut too once I was there and seated. Both she and the other male stylist working there were so snooty and uninterested in apologizing for the misunderstanding even after I specifically pulled up the fine print and showed her myself. If You're going to make such a ridiculous rule about adding an extra $25 for cutting hair that's only an inch or two past your shoulders, at least make sure your perfectly clear about it in your precious "fine print." I would definetly recommend Alexandar or Olivia Todd salons over this one, they were always so warm and welcoming there. read more

I've been going to Conrad Heller for my cut and color for over a year now and could not be happier. My Mom has also been seeing him for the same services at the Greensboro location. I highly recommend his work. We both always get compliments on our hair and its all due to his skills! He is the first colorist that has ever made my natural brunette hair the perfect shade of blonde. Conrad understands that a trim can truly be just a trim and does not need to be a full blown unrequested cut. He is up to date on all the latest trends and products! read more

My 3rd visit with Melissa, she does a fabulous job with my color; I need highlights with base color, and I always get so many compliments afterward. I am also notorious for needing a last minute appointment and she always finds somewhere to accommodate me, she has even stayed late for me before. My first visit was a Groupon but I've kept coming back because prices are so reasonable. Today I had trim, color, highlights, and a style for formal event for under $200 before tip, I've paid more for less many times for my hair. Go see Melissa you will not be disappointed! read more

Deanna is a hair goddess! Two years ago I did a ton of research to find someone in Atlanta who could fix the damage that was caused by a colorist at Jamison Shaw and that is when I found Deanna. In under a year my short, damaged hair was not only long again but healthier than ever. I followed Deanna from Barron's London Salon to Zapiens, and there is zero comparison between the two salons. The staff at Zapiens is super friendly and very attentive. I am so happy I found Deanna. She is someone I truly trust with my hair and I highly recommend her! read more
