I had been a customer at Ashland Eye Care for many years. I was finally asked to no longer be customer about a year ago. In the past I purchased new glasses every year. These were progressive lens, expensive glasses. Last year I was having some health issues and I am in my 60's. I got a new pair of glasses and could not adjust to them. I went back in and they said that someone measured wrong and had the progressive lines in the wrong place. They re-measured and sent them back out to be re-done. When I got the new glasses on a Friday, I wore them the entire weekend even though I struggled to adjust to them. By Monday I had a splitting headache and could not wear them. I went back in and explained my problems to the young girl waiting on me. She checked the glasses and said I just need to try them longer. I told her I have worn glasses for 40 years, I know when they are not working for me. She then informed that they do not refund for glasses. I told her I do not want a refund, I want to try and figure out what is the problem. She then told me that glasses can only be re-done once at no extra charge to the customer and I had already used my one time re-do. I asked when did I do that, she said when they just re-made them. I looked at her and held my hand up to her and said, "Wait, stop, you are telling me that because you guys measured wrong that counts against me?" She said yes. I said to her that you have to admit that it's not right, that is not my fault and she agreed but once again stated they do not refund glasses. She asked if I wanted to see the manager and I said yes. The manager of the glasses department came out and was visibly upset. She said the problem was that I was not wearing the glasses long enough and should continue to wear them and that they do not refund glasses. I told her once again, I have worn glasses for 40 years, I do not want a refund. I want to understand and fix the problem. Then she said I needed to change my attitude because she had a girl in the back crying because of me. I was blown away, I didn't know what happened. She asked if I raised my hand to the girl and said "Stop" to her. I said yes because she was saying it was my responsibility for the previous glasses re-do when it was Ashland Eyecare that measured wrong. The manager would not listen to me. I told her that I did not think what they were doing and how they were treating was right. Before I left, I saw the girl come out who waited on me and I apologized to her for hurting her feelings. I left and asked the manager if Dr. Denbow could contact me. Dr. Denbow did call me and I explained everything to him and he informed that he does not have anything to do with that side of the business. He informed that sadly, I would have to take my business elsewhere. Dr. Denbow himself refunded the money for my glasses separately from Ashland Eyecare. I want everyone to know, Dr. Denbow is a great Optometrist and think he does a great job. I went to another company in Mansfield and they did an evaluation and made me glasses and they worked great. I debated for a long time to leave a review or not but finally thought people should now this because in my opinion, customer service is getting worse. Hope this helps. read more

"Ech!" Is the only word that comes to mind. I'm not sure where to begin . . . My grandma came here before us, and had terrible service two times, switching after the second encounter. We should have taken her word. After switching from our previous eye doctor, the doctor that we saw proceeded to make fun of our old doctor for "messing up" our prescription, and then switched the prescription for my left eye to my right eye, and vice versa. After they switched it back, it was still wrong. Strike 1. We came back a year later for our second appointment. I said my prescription didn't feel right, but after testing my eyes, he dismissed my concerns. I started having painful headaches, and I came back and saw a different doctor who agreed with my that the prescription was wrong. In her words, "drastically" different. Strike two. On that same appointment, I needed new contacts and glasses for my new prescription. They agreed to use the deductible for the contacts, paying out of pocket for the new glasses. When our glasses came in six weeks later, we asked about the contacts and found out two weeks later they never ordered them, after assuring us that they did multiple times during the in-person visit. Strike three. We will NEVER come back here. And heed my warning that you shouldn't either. read more
