It is helpful that there is a monitor showing folks when the next train is scheduled to arrive for whichever train line they are waiting for. It was less expensive to travel to our hotel this way as compared to using a taxi , bus, or other means of transportation. It was smooth trip that took about 30 minutes. Faster than the other modes of transportation. The Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 Underground station is convenient to use and easy to navigate even for tourists like us. The signs give good direction and instructions. If you have questions, there are attendants all over the station to help. Just ask.

Pro tip 1: since they never put flight gates up until 1 hour before, walk down toward gate 14 to hang out in a less-crowded space instead of right beyond security. Also kids will love the play area there, and head up the stairs to the birds eye runway view (everybody loves that--even an elevator). Pro tip 2: T4 by TfL means train transfer (Piccadilly and Elizabeth) unless you get the every-30-min T4 direct. You know I'll return, because if my ticket says T4 what else am I gonna do?

I arrived significantly early because I needed to…read morespeak with baggage enquiries regarding my lost luggage (never arrived when I flew in from Belgrade to London 4 days prior). I tried calling the company responsible way too many times to count since the day after my luggage was promised to be delivered to me had passed, but no one ever picked up, and I was unable to leave a voicemail. I managed to find baggage enquiries at this terminal, but instead of being able to talk to someone, it was just a call box. I managed to speak to an employee who graciously took the time to escort me to an unauthorized office of the airport, so I can speak with the right person that could help me. This individual went above and beyond to try to locate my luggage. He was unable to due to no fault of his own (apparently the luggage system crashed at the airport the connecting airport in Belgrade). He took down my info along with my file reference number so he can pass this along, so my luggage could hopefully be shipped to me. He even gave me advice on what to do if it is not returned to me after a certain period of time. I wish I remembered the names of these two employees that went out of their way to help me. They made an anxious experience into a brighter one with their help. I'd also like to add that this was my sixth time flying into or out of Heathrow airport, and I always had a nice experience, thankfully.

I planned a well deserved vacation enroute back to Kenya from London, stealing an opportunity of a lifetime to visit and immerse myself in the African country of Seychelles. The Seychelles, in my opinion, is a close to a perfect tropical paradise as you can imagine, but I'll keep looking. My first leg of this journey was flying from Heathrow Airport to Doha aboard Qatar Airways, which is always a real pleasure.  A short two hour layover there, then off into the wild blue to Mahe Island, Seychelles.   We are staying at the Anantara Maia resort, an ocean front masterpiece of nature, beauty and tropical architecture. Being met by their transport vehicle complete with a cool minty fresh washcloth and cool tropical drink did add to my accolades for them,  even before setting eyes on their beautiful locale.  For those dreaming of locations such as fiji, while they are still on my list, shouldn't sleep on the Seychelles, one of the finest on the Indian Ocean. Succulent local fruits and veggies await thy palates (since going plant based, I can only attest to their veggies, fruits and they fed my sweet tooth well with intricate local pastries .  I had the privilege of 8 nights there, which still wasn't enough. I love it when a plan comes together .

We bumped into our new travel friends and asked them that question = their answer was they did not know they can just tap their credit card in and out for the exact same price. Trains come often. Well labeled. Also employees/security at each gate to answer questions if needed. The employees were helpful on our first day. Price - NO idea as we tapped in and out with our credit card and the machines do NOT print receipts. Owner Comment - Great job and I am told great progressive improvements. Thank you. Way cheaper than Uber!

The "slow" platforms are typically the only ones used - the "fast" train continues onwards at very high speed. Ticket offices are open between 06:30 and 20:30 plus there is an Oyster card reader. Very limited parking is available. Services and refreshments are limited - two very small shops selling snacks, candies and sodas, plus newspapers. There is also a vending machine. Bus stops are on the North side of the tracks that go to Uxbridge and other places. These are the London bus routes 222, 350, U1, U3 and U5.

Upstairs is a rather functional and boring building with waiting areas for the bus stations to local places and a good amount of room for dropping off/picking up friends. It might actually be easier to get here, compared to the regular places at the airport! I did spot a taxi stand. There is no step-free access, which can be a challenge if you have heavy luggage. The station is in Zone 6.

Not many people know this (or at least people I talked to so far) that if you are a star alliance gold, complimentary upgrade to the first class of seats are available. No need to buy first class ticket, just show your card to the attendant and take an available seat. Seat is pretty comfortable and get to charge your phone while on board. Short ride felt really short. WiFi worked good for quick email check.

The train itself is basic, nothing special considering how expensive it is, but it is truly efficient. The only thing is that if you are planning to grab a taxi/uber at Paddington, it definitely decreases the efficiency (I had to wait 15 for the Express train, then walk across the street and wait 15 minutes for an uber to my hotel which took 30 minutes - if I had just taken a car from the airport it wouldn't have been that much slower, but that's also assuming minimal traffic).
