Had a wonderful dinner at Antalya while visiting Loughborough University! We shared the Special Mix…read morefor 2 which came with meze, salad, Turkish bread, chicken shish, lamb shish, lamb chop, Adana kebab, and chicken beyti. The meal was topped off by mint tea and Turkish Delight. Everything was delicious and the service was so hospitable. I definitely recommend dining at Antalya and look forward to exploring more of the menu during future visits.

I must confess that Turkish / Greek food isn't my favourite type, but I do like it for a change now and again. Once you are seated at Antalya and your drinks order has been taken, warm strips of a flat bread will be brought to your table, alone with dishes of olives and pickled peppers (the ones that look like large chillies, but are not spicy as such). These are free, and you can nibble on them as you decide on your order. There are a wide range of hot and cold starters, with my favourite being a 'mezze' selection...a small plate with around 8 or 10 items on it, e.g. hummous, taramasalata, some kind of bean salad, a meatball, stuffed vine leaf, a 'burek' (sort of a cheese samosa) and some other bits. Want some more free bread to mop things up with? Just ask. Main courses consist of a lot of lamb and chicken dishes, with some fish and vegetarian options too. My recommendation is the Iskendar kebab, a dish containing a mixture of meats in a tomatoey sauce, served over pitta bread. If you have room for dessert, the trolley appears to be well stocked with cakes and traditional Turkish baklava...very sweet pastry affairs, sometimes nutty, and dripping with syrup or honey. Too sweet for my tooth, but each to their own. If you decide not to have a dessert, your meal will still be rounded off by a free shot of a fruit liqueur, usually on offer is banana, cherry, strawberry, and possibly one other. Also, a plate of free fruit is served which is great to cleanse the palate, but also great as a free alternative to dessert, if you didn't fancy one of the heavy offerings from the trolley. The staff are attentive without being overbearing, and they are very friendly. One waiter overheard my brother saying how much he liked the apple tea they served there, and he went into the kitchen and came out with a pack of the stuff for him to take home. I don't know if this is a family run restaurant, but it certainly has that feel. When the bill comes, if you've had a couple of drinks then don't expect any change from a 20 if you had a starter and a main course. I never feel cheated when paying the bill here, as I do feel that the little 'extras' add a lot of value to the dining experience. The ambience is relaxed and friendly, great for couples, families or group bookings...a good all-rounder in this respect.

Visiting from America- we thought we'd stop here. If they take longer than 15 minutes to serve you…read morelunch, lunch is on them! Last time I visited it took longer than that so the staff happily gave us free lunch vouchers for next time. I recently went to use those and the staff was very nice and friendly when we brought them up to the counter. We got the breaded chicken burger as that is halal. Sides included skinny chips, thick chips, simple salad, and coleslaw. Definitely would come back!

Ten minutes later, comes the beer. That needs a fixin. Now, a burger is a kind of sandwich. A sandwich is something you can pick up with one hand and eat while reading a map. I got a cramp in my face trying to get my mouth around this thing. I had to eat this thing with a knife and fork. The bun was superfluous. It was tasty otherwise, though the 'onion rings' in the burger came apart long before they were cooked, leaving streaks of batter within the burger. They're perhaps best left as a side. The chips/fries here are a fail. The nothingness of the skinny fries or the pale not quite crispness of the chunky fries don't leave much of a dilemma. I avoid. As is par for the course in a restaurant that narrowly misses the mark, the service is mostly excellent; the staff is warm and friendly. That is worth the visit. Otherwise, some quality-control is needed.

First review for a few months. Not been a good year so far. Fell and broke my ankle (3 places)…read morewhich required surgery. During recovery contracted a clot on my lung. So my first meal out since February and we chose Mumtaz. I'm glad we did, my last visit here was about 5 years ago and I still recall how good it was. I'm pleased to report that nothing has changed. The food is excellent as is the service. I'm still using crutches and the chap that welcomed us into the restaurant immediately had a table for two brought closer to us rather than me making my way to it. We both love the mumtaz chicken samosa so we started with those, they are excellent and not to be missed! Main courses were just as good and good sized portion too. We had a jug of Strawberry Lassi which was great. I don't think they serve alcohol but I am on the wagon and Sharon was driving. Very pleased we chose here it is a great restaurant in an area saturated with choice for Indian food.

I specifically asked for the curries not to be oily but was too oily there was no makhani present in the daal unlike the first time! The spices were not grounded and were whole whilst chewing the food i'm afraid there was no consistency between the chefs. you could tell a different chef had prepared my food this time. overall I was very disappointed in my food, I think I will leave ordering again.
