It has everything you'd need for your weekly shop - whether it's for you or not depends on whether you're prepared to pay more for your shop compared with some other supermarkets, although they do have offers and have just introduced a cheaper essentials range. On the other hand, I generally find the quality good (especially for fruit and veg) and the staff here were very helpful on my visit. Pay your money and take your choice, I guess. My one real downer on this location is that they could have made the building a bit nicer - it's a posh version of a brick-encased shed, and it rather detracts from the architecture of the Old Town, including the 12th century church and pub nearby

I have to admit that I probably couldn't exclusively do my shopping here, but in combination with other supermarkets, I'm quite partial to popping in and grabbing a bargain! My particular Aldi faves are the chocolate, parmesan cheese, nappies and baby wipes, but the fruit, veg and meat is pretty decent too, and at a fraction of the cost of their competitors. I also like to browse their random isle which changes all the time - I've brought cycling gear and a nest of tables on different occasions! Keep an eye out for their special events for further bargains - the baby event always proves popular but you need to get there early in the day before all the deals are snatched up. The only things that let Aldi down are the limited packing areas and the lack of safety stapes on the trolleys.

It's a slightly odd set up, they have a kitchen in their shop front, so when you go in to buy a tasty slice of carrot cake, you disturb them from their main catering work and they often have to put the electric whisk or suchlike down to serve you. In a way, it's quite pleasing - it makes you feel like your brownie is truly homemade, but at the same time it can make you feel a bit awkward. I haven't used the catering side of the business, but I can affirm the quality of their individual portions of cake, usually quite reasonably priced at around £1.50 a slice.

Again, being Asda, it is all very keenly priced. The store has a cafe that is also very well priced along with a post office that opens later than anywhere else in town. The customer service in Asda is very good - it's rare that you come across a member of staff that doesn't at least give you an impression of being helpful even if, ultimately, they aren't. The things that let Asda down are the toilets. In a place where so many people pass through, the toilets are well below standard. In fairness to Asda, every time I go in there and point this out, they clean them then and there. Quite a few people I know won't shop in Asda as they think its a bit 'chavvy' for want of a better word. Personally, as a student, I find Asda sells all the stuff I want to buy at the price that I want to pay which is good enough for me. On balance, this is one of the better supermarkets in town.

We bought the salted caramel, praline, and coffee truffles - 100g for £3.75 (without the gold box it's 3.50). Oh my they were tasty! Will definitely come back for Christmas presents!

She puts her holiday snaps on the shop wall for all to see. I tried their pestashio Turkish delight and what a delight it was. This shop is opposite Castle gate. Its a bit down the lane so hard to see from the road. If one didn't know it was there then it would be be missed. I think Mrs Syrett runs the shop with her husband. There was a man of her senior age behind the very small counter.

It shows an absolute contempt for their customers.Going to check Tescos in Lewes today and if they havnt done the same will drive to Lewes to do our weekly shop in future. Used to love Sainsburys particularly for the quality of their food but these self service tills are not for me.
