The range of foods on offer is good - my own favourites are the fabulous date and walnut/cheese and walnut breads and the wonderful lemon smoked mackerel on the fish counter. Very very good, but then every supermarket has its specialities. What I also go to Morrisons for are the low prices, and although not across the board, I would say on average it is the most economical supermarket if you are willing to fill half your trolley with items from their value range. (As most people are, of late!) Also they have a good stock of cardboard boxes readily available, often very handy to have around and helpful for transporting your groceries!

I was brought up in a Morrison's family, and a Morrison's man i shall remain! The only reason that it doesn't have 5 stars is as mentioned above, it looks like it was erected in the 1970's and really could do with the bit of a spruce up. The deli counter is excellent and I'm now even on first name terms with some of the staff there. What more could you want... oh yeah, I already went through that didnt I?

I suspect it is most frequently visited by restaurant/cafe owners or those with massive families who stock up on huge bags of rice, pulses and other products available in 'bulk buy'. They do, however, sell single portions of things for the lone shopper who enters anyway despite the huge 'cash and carry' exterior, such as myself. I managed to find cans of Coconut milk for only 59p each which is almost half the price of other retailers. My whole basket came to less than a fiver, which would have been more around the £8 - £10 mark in most other shops. They sell vegetables, breads, and meats fresh or frozen. Biscuits, sweet goods, kitchen wear such as baking trays and other handy bits and bobs, and various cosmetics such as bath/shower gel etc. Susan is right about the name being somewhat confusing as it is mainly foods from Asia and Africa and not the common British conception of 'continental food' (deli style West European). If you are after the latter (Italian, French, Spanish etc) you are probably better off going to a deli in town or a chain supermarket.

Specialises on pulses/spices/grain/meat/breads/veg and sauces I would associate with West Indian/Pakistani/Asian and possibly even Greek cooking. I'm a regular here to stock up on spices/chick peas and even black peppercorns as they're so cheap! I also frequent the butchery for Mutton or Goat to do in a curry. Prices are fantastic, packages have a variety of sizes to suit your needs and it's like an Aladdin's Cave. Go have a snoop around, I bet they stock something you'll want to buy at a great price!

If you have ever watched a TV, especially around Christmas time, it is very likely you will have seen the advert. Fake snow, big cakes, Denise Van Outen or 'that bloke from Top Gear' stroll around Morrisons looking glossy whilst their signature Take That tune blasts out in the background. If not you will probably have seen one of their 420 stores throughout the UK. They are big, garish and bright yellow. That's the one. I shop in the Morrisons in the city centre on occasion, due to their very low prices and the fact that they stock pretty much everything. But recently I visited the Hunslet branch. The difference, they have a cafe! I was starving. Having had no breakfast whatsoever, my stomach was grumbling like a grumpy old man who had lost his slippers. Food was needed fast. They had a selection of sandwiches, but they were cut into triangles and laid onto cling film covered plates with a handful of crisps and salad. Fair enough, but odd as I expected the usual packaged sarnie. They were also quite sweaty looking, with condensation on the inside of the cling film. Not very enticing. So, I thought, hot food. YUM. But I couldn't see a menu. This is how hot food works. 1. Go to counter one with a display of pictures of various breakfast type hot food. (Sausages, beans, bacon, eggs, toast etc) 2. Choose what you want and tell the lady, she then gives you a green plastic disk with your number on it. (I chose scrambled eggs on toast) 3. Go past coffee machine, grab coffee if required. 4. Go to till, hand second lady green plastic disk with number on, pay and receive a red plastic disk with number on. 5. Find a table, put red plastic disk in the flag-post-thing and await your food. Right. Done. Sip coffee. Extremely milky with hardly any actual coffee in it, cue sleepy effect instead of caffeine buzz required. Bummer. The food arrives within five minutes. Rubbery egg, soggy toast and tasteless tomatoes. Double bummer. Satisfaction: None Wallet: down £3.80

I'm really not a fan or Morrisons as it is...the drab decor, the horrible floor that looks…read morelike...er, i'll not even say it. Anyway, my friend and I had a full english breakfast from here and like Alexandra said...rubbery eggs, soggy toast, really unusually hard stale beans....it just wasn't nice. I can't say much for the staff either, they're not very polite or accommodating and seem to be utterly bored of their jobs. Cheap but definitely not cheerful. Spend your money elsewhere.

Good Morrisons store. It's average sized, and stocks the usual range of food, drinks, toiletries…read moreetc. that you would expect from a supermarket. I find Morrisons has a different feel to it compared to Asda or Tesco, I think it has a friendlier atmosphere in general. They have a lot of tills, so queues aren't usually too bad. Another great point about this store, is it's in a shopping centre. This means there are other shops conveniently outside the till areas so you can look in other shops too. For example Specsavers and The Range (which is next door).

This Tesco is really big, along with the regular supermarket, there's also a clothes section,…read moreelectronics section, pharmacy and photo centre. It sells pretty much anything you will need. Generally Tesco is quite cheap due to having loads of offers on like buy one get one free etc. I find the layout of this Tesco a little confusing though, it's not the Tesco I use all the time, so I guess this is probably why! Staff seem friendly enough, and there's loads of checkouts so queues aren't too bad, unless it's Christmas eve!

A long standing Morrisons supermarket at the top of yeadon high street…read more Very good sized car park (though I have noticed a bit of a struggle during busy times). And a table service cafe too. The supermarket is nicely laid out, you get the smell of baking bread and cooking chickens, but actually enter through the fruit and veg section. Full of the usual Morrison's value and special offers. It has a full range of Market street counters (fish bar, salad, chickens & pies, butchery bakery and cakes) all with staff on hand to help with any queries. My only real annoyance is that this shop has a separate wines and spirits section and an inconsistant policy as to whether you can pay for all your shopping together or if you have to queue twice. The only time this is good is if you go in for booze alone, as you don't get stuck behind a couple of trolley loads at the checkout!

The shop is airy light and clean and the food is good value and high in quality. The prices are very good, I would say of the big 4 supermarkets they are the cheapest and they do offer a lot of buy one get one free offers and other deals which is good. The staff are very nice and helpful, and the atmosphere of the supermarket is good, I would say this one is maybe a little more old fashioned but that is no bad thing. Only down side is that it doesn't sell clothes like the biger supermarkets do but food and home wise it is very good and a great place to do your weekly or monthly shop without breaking the bank.

Weegman's feels like Otley's answer to Ilkley's famous Lishman's - a big butcher in a small market…read moretown, a name ending in "man's" and some good local meat. Otley is not as posh as Ilkley, and so Otley's biggest butcher is not as posh as Ilkley's - but it's just as good in its own way. The prices are slightly cheaper all round because the quality isn't strictly as "high" but I doubt many people could really taste the difference. They stock a surprisingly wide variety of meat, and like all good butcher's, they aren't afraid to dispense with a few secret recipe tips when they hand you your chosen slabs of meat. One thing that puts this butcher's above many others in my book is its homemade pastries - I get a little pork pie every time I'm in Otley from here, and it's glorious every time.

Literally, I spent about an hour on the same street as Weegmans simply browsing the charity shops and it never had a slow moment. That, if nothing else, demonstrates the popularity of a place! They stock all the good cuts that you might be looking for and despite being an indie butchers aren't too expensive. It's so frustrating that the huge supermarket chains have grown to the capacity they have today as it really wipes out the need for such caring indie shops like Weegmans. However, by the sheer number of customers, it's good to see that this hasn't been a problem. As well as all the tasty fresh meat produce they serve hot meat sandwiches, yum if you're not vegetarian, and some of the nicest pork pies around. All in all a total gem.

They sell all things snack based, including a fine selection of old favourite biscuits, multipacks of crisps, multipacks of tea, coffee and tinned goods too. Overall, it is a lot cheaper than going down your supermarket for such things and paying twice the price. Also, everything he sells are popular and famous brands.
