This review is LONG overdue, however, my recent experience with Shirry reminded me that I must post a review. In 2014, I had the pleasure of working with Shirry Dolgin of ASD Interiors, along with Bo Siton of A List Construction. My husband and I did a full remodeling of our kitchen, and a portion of our den. This included cabinets, appliances, flooring, lighting, painting, plumbing fixtures and window treatments. The design also included a wonderful desk area, with cabinets for the printer and tower. Shirry's design ideas were creative, and her color palette, beautiful. Bo's team was consistently on time and cleaned up the work area each day. Shirry was always available by phone, when we needed to reach her. They set up a microwave and refrigerator in our dining room and we stayed in our home during the remodel. As is always the case, there was a small hiccup with a support beam, but they got the right people out to determine the solution, and we were back on track. We love our kitchen! Fast forward five years, and our bedroom needed a refresh. Shirry was the only person we would consider. Shirry spent time with us for a consultation and understood our budget constraints and worked within them. Shirry created a simple, classic, and beautifully serene master bedroom. It was a minor refresh which included paint, carpeting, window treatments, bedding, lamps, placement of art, and accessorizing an existing wall unit. The contractors that she works with for the painting, carpeting, and window treatments were dependable and their work, excellent. The bottom line is we love our bedroom as much as our kitchen! We would use both Shirry of ASD Interiors and Bo Siton again. Take my advice, and you will not be disappointed. read more

My wife and I have worked very closely with Shirry and her staff at ASD Interiors to build our dream home in Beverly Hills. Shirry has done a wonderful job helping us stay within our budget and to design a beautiful house. Shirry has what i call the 3 "A"s needed for success. She is Able and knowledgeable. She is Available - we have been texting and calling her with questions all along the 14 month process. And finally, she is Affable and friendly. I would like to preface this review by first pointing out that as a general rule, I feel that 90% of everything in the world is pretty much crap. Most of what you run into on a day to day basis is really not very good. I've worked with Shirry on a few occasions now. She just finished helping me and my partner with a redesigns of our kitchen, living room and family room. Given the amount of work she put in, I thought it would only be fair if I were to share my experience of working with her with the rest of the world. The first design idea Shirry provided for me was a sort of "retro look" for the house. I raised an eyebrow and thought that this would be interesting. (I could see why maybe this would be hip and trendy for that particular year, but I also know that people spend thousands of dollars to get rid of the old 70s look, not thousands to try to bring it back.) During our meeting, I straight out told her that it wouldn't work for us. That she should take anything tied to the concept of retro and just throw it out the window. I think she was taken back a bit, and you could just barely make out a slight watering of the eyes. She kept her composure, went back to the drawing board and came back with another design idea. From the items we had around the house and from small talk we had with her about our travels, she came back with an design idea focused around the "world traveler." This time I felt she had knocked it out of the park. There's one review I read on this site that I feel is really unwarranted. The job of a designer is to look into a person's soul and then come up with way to organize that person's life so that is both inspiring and practical for the everyday. This particular reviewer seemed to make a very petty case against Shirry for not being able to accomplish that immediately. Shirry is a designer, not a psychic, not a genie. What's more, the reviewer goes on to say the Shirry was willing to do anything to make it right. From the point of view of consumer, a business owner, and really, of a human for that matter, this sounds like Shirry was taking responsibility for her work and trying to do a good job. So it's pretty messed up that rather than allowing Shirry to do the right thing, the reviewer just turns up her nose and says "too bad." I know I'm a douche, but that reviewer has me beat by a mile. I feel that it is extremely rare to find a person that is as creative and hardworking as Shirry. You can also see when she's rolling out the new rug, or matching paint colors and fabrics, the Shirry really loves and enjoys her work (in spite of us jerks getting on her case from time to time). Having worked with her on a few projects over a number of years, I've been able to see her develop as a designer. And I'm actually looking forward to seeing what she comes up with for us in a few years when we need her services again. I do feel that a perfect rating should be reserved for a designer that completely challenges the genre and creates a place in design history for him or herself. Someone like Philippe Starck, or Dorothy Draper, or Petra Blaisse. I don't think Shirry is quite there yet, but if she were, we definitely wouldn't be able to afford her. I was introduced to Shirry by a colleague to help decorate and design my new Los Angeles studio. Although I was on a limited budget and had a specific vision for my space (modern, lots of right angles), Shirry was courteous and generous with her time in helping me find the appropriate furniture to build a design foundation. Knowing that I could not immediately afford all the pieces of my "dream" studio, Shirry dropped some interior design knowledge and explained which would be the major pieces that would help set the tone of my overall living space. After the initial meeting and consultation, I engaged Shirry in assisting me specifically with design consultation and furniture selection. I was looking for a suede L-shaped couch as the major piece to my living room and Shirry gave me several options of sofas in different price ranges that would fit my vision. Shirry was extremely helpful to a design-illiterate person like me. Her communication was clear, prompt and frequent. I am thankful for her services (which honestly felt more like an educational class) and feel more comfortable in moving forward in continuing to design my own space. read more

My husband and I came to Shirry with a modest budget, an empty living & dining room, and an awkward floor plan, and she gave us beautiful and functional rooms that we love and that we love to show off to friends and family. People who know us well comment that she really managed blend both our personalities and interests into the feel of the rooms. I recently hired ASD Interiors to create the perfect living room for me. I wanted a space that felt glamorous/old Hollywood. Shirry (the owner) has the perfect eye for this style. She knew where to get the best material and pieces of furniture at the best price. It made such a difference having her here for this process. I was so overwhelmed in the beginning trying to decide how the room should look, but Shirry made the process smooth and effortless. She really listened to my needs and gave me several choices to choose from. I owe my beautiful living room to her. I loved working with ASD. They are super-creative and knowledgeable, and on a more personal level, I think they are fun and warm people to work with... My experience in working with Shirry was a really great one. It was the first time my husband and I worked with a designer and we were a little hesitant at first. But very quickly we noticed that she put our minds at ease and she did exactly what we were hoping for. Basically we were looking for someone to take off the burden of all the decision making for us and to design our home in a ay we couldn't. Well she knocked it out of the park and I can't imagine ever getting the results without her professional skills. There really is such a huge difference when you work with a professional designer like her and the staff that's in her office. There was always someone available to talk to and ask questions and I never felt like I was getting in the way of her creative process. I highly recommend her company because the experience and outcome were better than I expected and well worth the investment. read more
