Unfortunately, my recent experience working with Rita was poor. Multiple times during the job-application process (I went through two rounds of interviews with Ascend followed by four rounds of interviews with a client company, all for one open position), she made false promises and assured me of timelines that weren't met. The process was initially rushed and laborious, then skidded to a halt with zero closure. When I didn't hear anything after my final interview, I reached out to Rita multiple times for an update to get some closure over a period of weeks. She replied assuring me that I'd be hearing back at X time, which was not the case. She even told me I needed to monitor my inbox daily while I was on vacation (my first in many years) because she was certain I'd be hearing back about this job and starting the next week. I never got an email. After that, my subsequent requests for an update were ignored and I was essentially ghosted once she realized I wasn't going to be the chosen candidate. I had to reach out to the company directly to confirm, whereupon they expressed surprise and regret that I hadn't been informed that I wasn't chosen because Rita had assured them that she'd let me know. That lack of care for the candidate as a human being once I no longer stood to benefit her monetarily tells me all I need to know about how Rita and Ascend do business. I would not work with these recruiters again. EDIT: After posting my review, I noticed that a brand-new account posted a rave review of Rita three days later in what appears to be an attempt to manipulate their Yelp star rating. I've still never heard back from Rita, but there was clearly time to counter my poor review for impression-management purposes. Buyer (or rather, candidate) beware. read more

Was reached out by Elizabeth and they said: "Thank you for reaching out to us. Your facilities experience looks interesting for a couple of advancing opportunities we are working on within commercial real estate in the Bay Area. We would like to have a phone chat about your background and career interests. Are you available tomorrow, Tuesday, 8/27 or Wednesday? Please let me know." Meeting was set up for a phone chat she agreed to and she never called. When emailed she explained she didn't place it on her calendar even though she recommend and verified the date a time. 5 emails later she never followed up with me despite her initial interest. Not very professional look. Will not work with them. read more

Ive had the pleasure of working with Paul and the Ascend team twice. Most recently this past December, in Denver, Colorado. The team reached out regarding a wonderful opportunity. AVOID and listen to the only other review on here. After applying, I was contacted through email by Elizabeth, where she told me that she had career advancing opportunities within the commercial real estate industry and was interested in getting to know my background and interests. I scheduled a phone interview with her, and it was a waste of time. Not once did she mention any information about the position I was applying for or the "career advancing opportunities" that were available. She first asked me what my last name was, which was the first red flag. Do you not have my resume in front of you? She was extremely rude and demeaning from the moment I answered the phone call and I was so shocked at how rude and condescending she was every time I spoke about my experience. Not only was she rude and demeaning, she was also a terrible listener. She clearly was not listening to any of my answers, asking me repetitive questions and then proceeded to be argumentative and belittling. She finally asked me what I was looking for and I told her I wanted to start my career within the Commercial Real Estate industry and was looking for an entry-level position, where I could learn and gain more knowledge in the industry. She told me the next step would to meet her in person but after 20 minutes of repetitive questions and her argumentative and belittling comments on my experience, I decided to tell her she was being rude and ended the conversation early. I am clearly not the only one that has had this type of experience and I hope that anyone thinking of applying for any positions offered or posted by Ascend on Job Boards are not treated like this. It is not worth your valuable time and effort to be undermined and belittled by someone who is supposed to assist you in your job search. There are plenty of other agencies out there with better attitudes and treatment towards their candidates, and I would highly recommend avoiding this one. read more
