I just needed to write a review exclusively about the Zumba class, hosted by Richard…read more I've been going on and off for a little over a year, and I got to say, I love his energy, the steps, the music.. He turns the lights off, so it makes everyone more comfortable to move around. (You are still able to see him and follow) It's affordable, $7 per class, and the timing is so convenient! 7pm Mondays and Wednesdays & 8:30 Saturday morning The only thing I'll say, is the parking isn't the greatest, but that's it.

I do not usually write reviews or send reviews..but I just had to do it this time…read more.. My son & daughter in law decided to send my granddaughter to this "dance school" for one of the weeks they offered this year for Dance Camp. This was at my suggestion as I have heard other people say they went to this school and it was right in Johnston... I did not expect it to be one of the worst experiences of her young life. She is 7 years old..and actually a very good sweet little girl...she is just like any other 7 year old little girl...She loved it the first day and was begging her mom to allow her to go another week...the second & third day she came out crying...I am not going to get into the whole sad story but I myself picked her up the third day and was called in by the owner...who chastised my granddaughter whom was crying in my side..for plain & simple "stuff" that any 7 year old would do...nothing out of the ordinary...and while my granddaughter cried...she continued to explain all of the "things" she did to make her angry that day...example..not listening when she told her not to run so she had to repeat herself..dumping popcorn back in the popcorn maker that belonged to another child that did not want it all...(of course it should have been thrown in the garbage - but again the child is 7) along with a few other things...I was asked if she had behavior problems...she is going in 2nd grade and has been in school since preschool and has actually gotten awards for being such a sweet kid...among other things...The owner did reimburse my son but its not just the money that bothered us..it was the feeling that we sent her out to be verbally abused. I would think twice before sending your child here...I do not know the rest of the teachers - I am sure they are awesome..but the owner does not know how to deal with children..and I am so sad that I helped set my granddaughter up for this emotional time..lesson learned....

I understand why people like MPT upon first attending. You can meet new people, learn something…read morenew, and practice together. That's how I started. But there is a lot under the surface that new attendees don't realize. Everyone single woman in the Yelp photo above (that was the pro-team a few years back) has left the company because of Carlos's (and other leadership) behavior as well as the toxic culture of the studio. I can name so many women who have complained about him to me (I won't...because they don't feel safe to out themselves). But I will tell you a bit of what women are saying (mind you, these are women who have been in the studio for several years). -If he finds a woman attractive, he'll entice you to book a private session. Those sessions are often creepy as heck (unless you bring a boyfriend or husband). -If you don't reciprocate his advances, he'll potentially stalk or harass you. Don't believe me? There are SO many women who have saved screenshots of abusive conversations with him. He has also had at least one restraining order/No contact order against him. I'll bet there are more. -He'll encourage you to be on his performance teams (as I was for 3 years), but if you don't look a certain way, he won't let you advance. I saw so many young, thin women (who had been with the company only a short time) be advanced to higher levels even though they definitely had not put in the time and training that other women (perhaps not as young and thin) had done. All that said...he's going to try to make you think that all these women speaking out against him are crazy or delusional...or that we're competitors trying to take his business. We're not. Speaking for myself, I brought people into the company while I was there...and I feel bad for that. This is me now trying to undo a little of the harm that I've done. ***No, my real name isn't Alexandra. Do you think any of us feel safe stating who we really are?***

If you want some exposure to Latin dance, this is the place to do it!I just finished the 5 week…read moresession of beginner Salsa and Bachata and loved it! I have absolutely no dance background but have always been curious. Carlos is a fantastic teacher with a great sense of humor. The people were warm and welcoming. I was nervous to go alone but there are plenty of others in the same boat and the class is set up so you rotate partners. I honestly did not want this class to end! If you are hesitant to try something new, rip the band aid off and go!!

I was concerned when I first considered different childcare options that my very high energy, very…read morephysical preschooler would somehow not have his needs met at a school that is designed to meet the needs of those with special needs. Growing up in Rhode Island, I always thought of Meeting Street as a school for those with disabilities, but I didn't realize it was SO SO SO much more than that - it's a wonderful place for all children. From my very first meeting with the director, Miss Ange, I was very impressed - she addressed my concerns perfectly by saying they were used to addressing children as individuals and finding ways to meet their educational and emotional and physical needs. So if my child has a "high energy quota" (as she put it so wonderfully), they'll find ways to meet that proactively as an educational obstacle rather than try to force him to fit a certain mold (sit and listen) or punish his energy just as a behavioral problem. And they've met that every step of the way. They've got a wonderful playground that they use frequently, they have lots of physical activity including gym class (which is accessible to even his classmates with physical limitations), and they have an indoor sensory gym that allows for him to get his wiggles out even on rainy days. He's quickly learned that his energy isn't a bad thing, but how to channel it into the right directions so that he can be a good friend and classmate, and a good listener and nice student. His preschool teacher, Miss Abbi, has amazing energy and has managed to make great progress in his listening and socialization skills in the month he's been in class. He is now much more independent in putting his clothes and shoes on himself, he sits for quiet time when instructed to do so, he eats more foods than he did before starting school, and he's much better at interacting with other kids - asking to take turns, including others. I've also loved the app they use - it makes it easier to know when they've been checked in and out if someone other than me is doing it that day, and they send notes and photo updates throughout the day so both their Dad and I can see what they're up to at school. I fully believe my children (I also have a toddler who is also doing wonderfully) are better for being in such a loving environment where each child is an individual and loved for who they are, for having friends who may be different from them. It's a wonderful place, and I'd pick it every single time over and over as the childcare option for my kids. Every single day, my kids beg to go to school and hold hands and run into their classrooms with smiles and not a backwards glance at me. That's the best reward, knowing they love being there every day.

As a disclaimer, my child doesnt go to this daycare but he does receive early intervention…read moreassistance from them and they have been a phenomenal help. When he began with them all he was saying was mama, daddy and ball. Now he is thriving. I am so very grateful for their help and the amazing part is that insurance covers it. So if you have any concerns about your childs developmental progress give this place a call you wont regret it. They do help with more than speech as well. They have Ocupational therapists, educators and nutritionists just to name a few. Sooo. Super. Grateful. For this place!!! Thank you!
