Before I begin I would like to say that i do not want to bash the organization. When I was younger, my family would go to arya every few months or so (it opened 2006), we were always talking about how amazing everything was. I've been critiquing food since I was 15, and arya has always been my favourite at the time. The service was excellent, the food was splendid, the aroma was stunning and so on and forth. I loved that place. It hasn't been a while than I went (last was in 2013) because I was busy with my studies in the U.S. My parents had moved to another part of the U.S and my sister lives in Paris, so I went to Arya GH with my gf last week. When I walked in however I felt something off... The servers seemed sluggish, except for one female worker who's name began with K (I forgot). As soon as I sat, I was prepared to order my favourite, Soup of the Day, (Barley), the Beef Kabab and Basmati Rice. My girlfriend, who has never tried, opted for the Ghafgazi and Salad Shirazi. We waited around 30/40 mins for our food... We received the main courses first, and few minutes when we had started the Barley Soup and Shirazi came. First of all let's begin with the main course. The koobideh seemed a bit burnt, and there was lacking of flavour. I asked for not to well done and they over did it. My fiancées order had too MUCH spices if anything. It made me squint terribly due to the flavour was exceedingly over to the norm. It wasn't terrible, but the soup was. The soup had no flavour. It tasted like porridge, which was a shame because from what I remembered it was the best soup in town. The Shirazi wasn't the same as what I had from 8 years ago. Arya was my favourite restaurant then, and I felt how it should've tasted.. And everything was inconsistent... Either it had too much or too little. The final food was a mockery of the expensive food, as the price was expected from years ago, not now. The magic of Arya has been lost, and someone needs to find it. read more
