Grace and I used to eat at Persia Grill at least once every 2 months. At less than P300 per head, getting 2 sticks of really flavorful beef kebab served with a more than generous serving of long-grain rice with a melted slice of butter on top and 2 grilled tomatoes is a real steal (and now I've officially made myself hungry). I took my friends there, we took Grace's parents there, and now I'm beginning to wonder if we took them there or if we invited people to eat out just so we could have an excuse to eat at Persia Grill. I haven't eaten there again in quite some time, but that's only because I've learned to cook my own kebabs (it's quite simple to master, really). But Persia Grill will always have a spot in my heart because it was my peg for how I wanted my own kebabs to taste: simple enough to look at but bursting with flavor in the mouth.

I am kind of crazy when it comes to Middle Eastern cuisine. I love trying out kebab places around. I ordered their Chelo kebab Kubideh, it is two skewers of grilled ground beef over a third of a pound prepared with Persian spices. I usually pair it with their home made creamy yogurt shake. I bet you will crave for this shake especially on hot weather days. I'd definitely say that this is the best and finest chelo kebab I've ordered in the metro. Their outlets have chic and nice decors. The staffs are nice and the service is fast.

An amazing place! One of the worst if not The worst I've been to on my travels. NOTHING tasted good. Service was a sham. They never cleared the table even when I placed the bill with my card on the plates. STAY AWAY!

I may not be a shawarma eater, but give me chicken kebab anytime and I'll be one happy girl. Persia Grill's Chicken Kebab student value meal, priced at Php 139, fulfills this purpose. It's makes for a filling lunch or dinner. The interiors of the resto reflects its Persian roots, with a quiet, dimly lit atmosphere. While this is not conducive to studying, it's perfect for chill gossip nights with friends. Persia Grill also offers other Middle Eastern favorites like Beef Kebab, Shawarma, Chicken Tikka, and Keema. They also have food old Filipino meals like Chicken Sisig and Squid Sisig.

Poor service and inadequate menu selection. I would advise against it because they don't even have hot tea or water for a Persian restaurant

Hands down my favorite place to eat in in Taft Avenue!…read more Ababu opened about a year ago and hasn't lost its momentum since, well at least for me. They serve Persian and Mediterranean foods which are two of my favorites! The best part? It's just a block away from my building so if you do visit, there's a possibility of you running into me there (don't forget to say hi!)! Ababu's food is very affordable but unlike most cheap eats, Ababu serves amazing food! Their Beef Kebab Rice Meal is my favorite! It consists of charbroiled ground beef with egg, corn, onions and tomatoes on rice. They also serve bottomless iced teas with the meals though I believe they use powdered iced tea. The only drawback is that the place can get really hot and a little smoky when they are cooking the meat and the poor air-conditioning sure doesn't help.

I was literally standing outside the glass door when this place first opened, and I was its first customer. I didn't plan for it to happen. I was just really hungry and lo and behold, there's a good-looking Persian restaurant opening just beside my building. So I stood outside and gave them the evil eye until they let me in and fed me. You can't go wrong with shawarma rice, and that proved true here. The best part though? Unlimited iced tea. Granted, it's probably just powedered iced tea, but who cares? It's cold and sweet and everything the doctor ordered.

A short walk away from the Shopping Center and right in front of Mang Larry's (the famous isaw…read moreplace), Khas Food House is one of UP's quieter restaurants. (Don't get it confused with CASAA, the food house on the other end of the Academic Oval.) It might be a little hard to find because 1) the structure it's found in looks abandoned, and 2) their sign up front doesn't attract attention at all. (It just looks like your typical sari-sari store sign.) Once inside though, you'll see why it's just about the quietest place to enjoy a good meal in UP. Khas serves a mix of Mediterranean and Indian cuisine, and they are vegetarian-friendly! Yes! UP has vegetarian-friendly food! Most of their meals have a no-meat option, using vege meat instead. I love their Safari Doubledecker Meal! It's a rice bowl with cabbage, onions, egg, mild spices (if you wish), and your choice of toppings - chicken, beef, seafood, or vege meat. It's inexpensive, filling, and quite good with the vegetarian option! (Only P90) Since I frequent Khas at around lunchtime, I usually order their yogurt shake to go with the Doubledecker Meal. (P65) They have lots of other interesting items on their menu, including a shady item called "It's Not What You Think!" I've heard that the meal is cooked depending on the ingredients available, and that the staff can't reveal what they've put in it. I haven't tried it yet! But if you're curious, do visit this nice little hidey-hole in UP and give it a go! :)
