We are seasonal customers of Arvig. I called on 4-28-25 to request that our wifi and cable services be turned back on for the summer on 5-21-25. We ended up arriving on 5-25-25 which was Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend. No services were set up by Arvig on the date I had requested. Customer service said too bad, so sad; wait until Tuesday and call the business office. No ownership, no effort to help us get service for our phones, computer, cable for three days. Today I w as given a weak apology but no ownership on Arvig's part. Arvig, your customers deserve to be treated better. Be better. read more

I am in the country just outside of eagle bend and bertha.. just got the new fiber internet i was supposed to be signed up for the high speed package...But when i called the customer service to see what i am at they basically gave me the run around bullshit said my fiber out here is in testing mode still.. so instead of the promised 990Mbps i get 350 ... So in all reality its no different than b4 threw old copper wire... I think they need to focus on getting the right equipment infront of there fiber .. Then maybe they wouldnt look Like such a fraud.. The Biggest joke of them all is there customer service suggested i use there wireless verison instead So put fiber in the ground an then just try to sell you wireless (Cellular Basically at only 350 Mbps) Because your not smart enough to make the fiber what you advertised it to be... you would think at some point you get better people in your company to get the job done correctly...an one last thing its nice the workers that came out to do the work an hook it up smelled you POT!... This is a review of Arvig Multiwave fiber internet. TLDR: This is a primarily B2B Company. They are not equipped to handle business to consumer transactions as they cannot provide the industry standard level of service to their customers. They also labor under the delusion that their customers work for them and not the other way around. Arvig provides fiber internet to apartment complexes. I gave them a shot when the Comcast service was ridiculously bad. The internet service IS amazing. The trouble came in when it was time for me to move. I really wanted to stay with Arvig, but they only provide service to apartments. So, I was forced to switch providers when I purchased my home. When I cancelled my service, I saw that they do not refund for the time you didn't use. Since there was no reason for me to terminate service early, I just let it run while I moved. When I cancelled, I received an email with a return label. Which I left, unread, in my inbox for when I was done moving. Once I was settled, got my printer hooked up, and found the router I went to find the label in my email. Like so many other things in my Yahoo box these days, it was just GONE. It happened three times with my Costco rebate, which I was able to redownload from the Costco site. So I figured, no problem I will just download and print from their site. But it wasn't there so I contacted support and they tried to resend the email. But they couldn't find it either. So, they assured me that they would ask a supervisor to email it on Monday and that I wouldn't be charged. Because this company only gives you 15 days to return your router or they charge you a NON-REFUNDABLE $100 fee. I didn't receive any response on Monday and a $100 charge hit my card on Tuesday morning. When I reached out to the company, I was CHASTISIZED, like I was a child, for not returning the box sooner and told that they would not, in fact, be returning the money I was told I wouldn't be charged. Additionally, they needed a SUPERVISOR to re - email the return label. I requested another on Saturday and that label didn't come until Wednesday afternoon and nothing was said about the money I was charged. That label filled a letter sized page. I have never worked with a company that would ignore a customer's attempt to work with them before. Needless to say, I have no incentive to return their equipment and I'm definitely not going out of my way to return the router gathering dust in my home. I am a data analyst and have done a bit of web development in my day. It is NOT difficult to either link to the shipping companies platform or drop a PDF into a file shared on a website. It's also not hard to format that label so it doesn't take up an entire page. For a tech company, this is embarrassingly bad form. Please do not allow Arvig to install their systems into your new builds. They aren't customer centric, and they don't have the infrastructure to deal with your renters. read more

I home office, I have now been without internet for over a week. I have called them multiple times. They are finally going to send a tech out to take a look but wont be able to make it till next week. I am in Northern MN and if you are considering internet providers in a work from home situation I would suggest finding something different. read more

Have had Arvig service since they were East Ottertail. They were bad then, and even worse now. Between the horrible customer support, flaky service, and outrageous pricing, I would love to have an alternative. I never asked for an upgrade, but now one is being forced on me. I was told that "the technician" decided new service was available and I should be forced to upgrade and pay more every month. And yes, I did call the customer service number that Mr. Arvig provides in his comments. They told me that they did not care if I wanted the more expensive service or not because they were going to do the upgrade and I was going to be forced to pay for it. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The Arvig representative talked me into upgrading my internet for two services I have. They upgraded it BUT ALSO KEPT BILLING ME FOR MY ORIGINAL SERVICES. I called the Arvig Business Customer Service and they know I am being charged for services I do not have, they have documentation that this happened, and they told me they corrected it. Guess what? Nothing was corrected on my next bill plus they charged me late fees for their mistakes. Trying to get a hold of them is horrible, they just take your name and tell you no one is available. Bottom line, I am being doubled charged for services I don't even have with no resolution yet from Arvig. Don't go with Arvig unless you have to. I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE SERVICES THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR. This is illegal and TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE! read more

When I called to put my internet on winter rates I asked what the monthly rate was. I was told $10. Have been billed $17 each month. Called to find out why, was told they would change it ti $10. Got billed today for $17. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. they do not communicate any issues to the customer. You don't find out until something is shut off and then they charge you a fee to re connect a scam! read more

The internet was fine to use however. When we were moving to a new location, and their internet was not able to be used at our new location, you have to return the equipment to their store locations with were 40 miles away from the service location, or pay postage to mail their equipment back to them or you could just pay the $400 equipment fee and keep their equipment. I would think a company would care more about the customer and offer a free postage option or something as they sure don't mind delivering the equipment to you to install it. read more

Internet service in Big Lake is terrible beginning when Arvig purchased Palmer wireless. My latest outage has been for 15 days straight, I have been told there has been a crew lined up to climb the tower to fix the issue. The must be having trouble finding the tower???? As usual there is no management communicating eta on repair or what the problem is. Why do customers continue to get billed for a full month when we do not have service for a full month? I do not recommend Arvig to anyone. read more

We moved to a new apartment complex (in part, because they have the same Arvig service we enjoyed in our old place. For the first few days, our Arvig speeds declined dramatically. Customer Service is really pretty good but like all telephone or internet service providers the customer is going to lose if there's an issue. Signed up for a year of 1gig service with the promise that I'd get the first 2 months free. When I was unable to get the full 1gig speed via a wired connection even after 2 technician trips I figured "no problem, I've got 2 free months to figure this out or drop my speed". I jumped through all their hoops (auto pay, paperless billing) but I still was charged the full amount for the first month. I had even called ahead because it looked like the charge was going to happen and they said they'd fixed it. So I did everything I needed to do on my part but they still charged me for 1gig service that I'm still unable to realize on my side and they're refusing to refund the first months charge with a promise I'll get the 2 free months in the future. read more

If I could give this company less stars, I would. The internet is out constantly. The customer service representatives are rude and haven't any idea what they're doing. Perhaps it's my fault for coming from a place where they had actual technology and employees who knew what they were doing and expecting the same from my new internet provider... but this is ghastly. Of course, you have to use it as there isn't any other internet provider in the area. It's super helpful when you work from home and half the time can't get a thing done because Arvig is absolute trash. read more

Arvig Co. was doing a big job in Montana. A hole was drilled in our blacktop and left unfilled. I waited a week, called the help desk and left a message. Within 15 minutes I got a call from Steve A. Within a week, a local company came and completed the job. One day later I got a call from Steve to see that it was done properly. Big company with personal and responsible service. Arvig Security, a part of Arvig Communication Systems, has been providing security monitoring to my home in Cold Spring for the past several years. Overall their service has been adequate but not outstanding. Changing or updating contacts in case of alarm activation has not always been updated when requested. The most notable instance was when I received a call while I was in Australia. Clearly I wasn't home to respond and the person who should have been contacted never was. But the situation that prompted me to write this review was caused by a recent need to have a CO monitor changed out. It should have been good for ten years but failed after six. The part was ordered, they didn't hold them in stock, and about three weeks later the service tech came out to install which took less than ten minutes. Shortly thereafter I received a bill for $206. The CO monitor was prorated because of the early failure but the travel time and labor was over $100. At no time was I told in advance about the $60 trip charge (plus when I talked to the accounts receivable person about this she was surprised I was only charged for one hour) and a minimum of 30 minute service charge. After requesting a review of the charges they declined to make any changes, plus they have now added a finance charge caused by their delay in the review process and getting back to me. So if you are looking for security monitoring, look for a company closer to home. read more

I understand that for small, isolated places, services are hard to come by. However, this place charges $150 for a 10mbps internet connection, for example. They overcharge since they are the only provider out here. We had terrible internet connections and asked for them to check it out, but its been a couple weeks of waiting... they still have not sent anyone. Just so everyone knows, email services were about $60/month with about 1 GB per email user (less than 10 emails) when google gives 30GB per user for half of the price. Hosting domains also are about 10x higher than other providers, where they charge $10-15 per month when other services provide it for $10-15 a YEAR. I understand that prices may be higher because nobody else is here, so they can monopolize the prices. However, if we pay $150/month for 10mbps and it still doesnt work well, there is a problem. If they charge a certain amount, they should follow up with service. read more

There should be a 0 star rating reserved just for Arvig. They own most of the phone/cable lines in the area so they have a monopoly and can charge whatever they want. I used to pay $30 for 45 Mbps Internet with Charter but now pay $90 for 10 Mbps Internet? Talk about a rip off. They also make it a better deal to bundle phone and Internet so they can sell your phone number to telemarketers. Their DNS servers also send you through cash back sites so when you make an online purchase they get a percentage back. Makes me sick. If you can find any other ISP please do. read more

The local office provides excellent customer support, however the after hours hot lines you get transferred to are completely worthless. On top of that their internet speeds they offer are a complete joke, 5mb download speed with .5 mb upload (yes that reads POINT 5.... not even a full MB) for $60+ a month. The only thing they have going for them besides good customer service is the fact they are a truly unlimited usage provider. read more

Installer was great. Internet pretty good, phone service--awful. Information provided upon signup--downright dishonest. Was given an $99 installation credit to install the internet & local phone option. Figured if I needed to change packages later, that would be the extent of my penalty. Selected the phone option because our ATT cellular service didn't work in the area. Arvig's landline local phone sounded like talking on a CB radio & was aggravating to my consulting partners & business clients when trying to reach me on my home line. Out of frustration with the landline phone quality, I switched cell providers & now have clear calling & wi-fi calling during the weaker signal times--I use Skype otherwise for business because of the annoying static on the Arvig landline. Tried to switch to an Arivg package with just internet & a cable TV package & drop the terrible phone service, but they want to charge me $180 because I "broke the bundling contract." (Guess I didn't read page 87 on the disclosure form.) Can't understand that much of a fee when my install fee & credit was $99 to start service. Seriously thinking about paying the egregious fee & getting satellite internet & some kind of dish service for TV just to not do business with these people. I just wanted to swap out TV service in place of their terrible and archaic phone service & they want to tear my head off because I don't want their crappy phone service. This is not showing your customers any love. I highly recommend satellite TV & internet if you live on the lakes in Central MN. Have had much better success with customer service & fairness in pricing in the past going that route when living on the lakes. read more
