Preface: I trained under Coach Arun for the introductory MMA classes - Muy Thai, BJJ, and overall fitness. First and foremost, besides being a great coach/trainer, Arun is an amazing human being. Friendly, experienced and insightful, the man is an abyss of wisdom as deep as the ocean. No, seriously, you should see some of his inspirational facebook posts. Besides doing what you pay him to do, which is to motivate and drill you technically to mental and physical exhaustion as many have already described in their reviews, you learn to appreciate and respect not just the art but also your time in the gym. You will definitely get the most out of your workout when training under Coach Arun. And unlike many trainers out there, Coach Arun isn't there for the money and doesn't have a hidden agenda seeking to profit himself. He's there to help others freely sharing and giving of himself and for this you will truly appreciate as I did training under Coach Arun. Can't possibly recommend any higher! read more

I sort of lost interest in training when I first joined Robot Fight & Fitness due to my work schedule, but decided to start up again and joined Arun's 7am Intro class. From there I was hooked and eventually moved into his BJJ class. When teaching technique, Arun not only goes through each step in detail, but makes sure the class understands the concept of why or how something works so everyone isn't just going through the motions. He has a wealth of knowledge on all grappling sports (don't miss his no-gi/wrestling classes) and is a killer on the mats. Arun's an awesome instructor that genuinely cares about his students and takes pride in their personal growth... he's also probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. Go visit him and see for yourself why so many people recommend him! read more

Spark Notes:: 5/5. Long-winded Backstory:: Arun is one of the most motivational, down-to-earth, and intelligent guys I've ever met. I started training with him in March 2014 and in a month's time, was able to accomplish my original goal of bulking up, while also dropping my body fat percentage to sub-10%! Arun taught me the fundamentals of form, breathing, diet, and process. Through well-structured workouts tailored to my body type, we were able to percisely pinpoint my areas of need and build up from there. Most of all, it was an enjoyable experience. I looked forward to getting my ass kicked by his workouts every time I went to the gym. I highly recommend Arun as a trainer, whatever your goals might be! read more

Coach Arun is the first person to teach me mental toughness. That led to unimaginable, for me, fitness gains. He is intelligent, well spoken, and has a positive attitude. Arun is also very attentive to proper form, to award you the best gains and avoid injuries. I can't say enough good things. I started the Intro to MMA class with him in early 2012. Then advanced and continued BJJ in his morning class. Do yourself a favor and train with Arun Sharma!!! read more

Arun is a great coach, his motto is "Don't give up on yourself, because I'll never give up on you." I don't think it can be said any better than that. My first sessions with Arun were a mix of Muay Thai, BJJ, and fitness. He's an example of someone who lives the fitness philosophy that he preaches. I enjoyed Muay Thai and fitness - Arun will have you doing pushups, squats, up-downs, jumping jacks, and anything else you can think of. He's great at breaking down each move and willingly presents himself as your training partner. I remember when he was teaching us how to do a rear naked choke (get your mind out of the gutter) he actually sat there and let every participant choke him and he would tell you if he could still breathe! That's commitment! I couldn't recommend a better coach and trainer. You won't be disappointed. read more

Arun is an extremely attentive, positive and a knowledgeable trainer. Not only is he proficient in developing comprehensive strength and conditioning workouts, but he is also an absolute beast BJJ athlete. The training sessions we have are always fun, never dull, and 100% of the time informative. He will correct us where needed and help us refine our technique where necessary. Besides providing a very technical and constructive course, I think one of Arun's best attributes is fostering a positive training environment where his students will succeed. Training under Arun is a pleasure and no brainer. read more

Coach Arun is an amazing coach. He is very perfectionist and always makes sure that he provides you the best work out. I really enjoyed doing his body conditioning class, but what I enjoyed the most was his brazilian Jiu jitsu class. He explains sooo well all the moves. I always learn soo much from him. give it a try, you won't be disappointed cause this guy knows what he is doing. can't wait to be back to Los Angeles for more training with him. read more

I first met Coach Arun when I took my son to try out Robot Gym. After watching some of the training I decided to give it a shot. I was already in pretty good shape(so I thought) after just completing my first half Ironman. I started training Ju Jitsu with Arun and soon after started Strength and Conditioning with him. The motivation I get from him every time I walk into the gym is second to none. i have never met a person with a more positive attitude on life. After training with Arun for over a year now I am stronger than I have ever been in my life. At age 43 I couldn't be happier. My squat doubled from when I started with him and I'm now dead lifting and able to do pull-ups like I never thought I would be able to. And my running and biking has improved drastically. If you want to change your life and have a positive friend in your life, get to know him. read more

I signed up for the 7am Intro to MMA class at Robot Fitness last June, not knowing what to expect. What I got was an instructor with a passion for mixed martial arts, fitness and life. From day one, Coach Arun made me feel welcome. He was always positive during the Intro class, never pushy, but always motivating us to do our very best. In November I transitioned to the Jit-Jitsu class. Again, being the least experienced person in the class, Coach Arun always took extra time with me when I needed it, but never neglected the rest of the class. That's one of his strongest attributes: making sure everyone is getting the most from the class, no matter what their experience level is. Though I've never taken one of his fitness classes, I have witnessed him in action, and his teaching philosophy is the exact same, to everyone's benefit. I highly recommend Coach Arun for any of your fitness needs, and I cannot wait to continue my training with him. read more

I've been training with Arun for about six months and I'll continue to do so. I was in search of the right trainer and I found him right here on Yelp. If you're on this page and you are reading this, then you probably are at least considering getting a personal trainer. I can say it's one of the best things I've ever done, and I highly recommend it. And a lot of that comes down to Arun himself. Most trainers, though well meaning, try to get the most clients they can. Arun is the first one I've met that puts your interests before his. He is patient, understanding, knowledgeable, flexible, passionate, and tailors the work specifically to what works for you. He isn't about fads, or trends, but timeless methods. He'll push you to the limit, but also help you listen to your body. He also subscribes to the 'teach a man to fish' philosophy. He wants you to be as good without him, as you are with him, because he truly believes that we are all better off when we are it good physical shape. But above all, he's a good dude. And if you don't believe me look at the ratings on this page. 5 stars across the board and that's because he's earned every single one We're all pretty lucky to live in a city where a trainer as great as Arun is available to us. I would advise you to take advantage of it. read more

Arun is a great instructor who wants to help you achieve YOUR goals, and will do whatever he can to help you meet them. He would never try to force his own personal goals onto you, and I believe that he works with you to help you do what you need to meet the milestones of improvement. He's knowledgable and a practicioner of what he preaches (hard work and discipline). He's constantly learning and trying to improve himself despite being an extremely experienced and expert in martial arts as well as physical fitness. He goes above and beyond to be the best trainer he can be, whether your goals are to compete in any form of martial art, to lose weight, or to have fun exercising. He's great for all levels of dedication and is amazing with beginners as well as experienced athletes. More than anything, he cares about you and takes pride in watching you grow. I can't say enough about him and what he did for me. read more

Arun excels as an athlete and coach. If you want to improve your BJJ, Arun is a highly detailed and patient instructor. He will let you work your game, even though he could impose his own at any time. As far as fitness goes, the proof is in the pudding - I don't know anyone with the same blend of explosive strength and endurance, and Arun does a fantastic job of getting his students onto the same level. What distinguishes Arun most, however, is his attitude. He gets peak performance by always demanding more, yet doing it in the most positive way possible. You sense that he's on your team, and has a personal stake in your success. I can't say enough good things about this guy. Work with him while he is still available! read more

Coach Arun is a big hearted person, and always pushes you to be your personal best. I remember struggling with certain techniques, and Arun would patiently take the time to break everything down into individual steps. He's such a great explainer, but most importantly, he's passionate about his work and helping you! read more

Coach Arun is super legit! I've trained with so many different people over the years and he is hands down the best for everything from BJJ to fitness. read more

I have been training with Arun for over two years now and he's always been super positive and supportive. Whether he's the instructor or just a fellow student during class, he is always working hard and urging others to do the same. But at the same time, he's always been very understanding of injuries or limitations, and you never feel pressured to do something you are not comfortable with. He balances encouragement, education on proper form, and understanding to make sure everyone around him always has the support they need, while at the same time making sure no one feels left behind because they may have limitations or are simply newer or less experienced. All in all, he's just a genuinely caring person, and his own personal transformation is very inspiring. read more

Arun was the most incredible trainer I have worked with, and I've worked with quite a few. His primary focus, to get my core strong, helped in every area of my health and well being. His patience and ability to educate me on the importance of what we were doing, made going to his sessions pleasurable. I highly recommend him as a trainer! read more

Arun is one of the most impressive trainers I've ever had. His knowledge of exercises is unmatched, but beyond that, he knows the best regimens to help you meet your fitness goals. I've been training with him for over a year. In the beginning I had little to no strength training experience. He was so patient and kind when instructing me. Even now, as I expand my strength and conditioning knowledge, he teaches in a way that is easy to understand, and never intimidating. Bottom line, if you're looking to take your fitness to the next level, from whatever it may be, in a low stress environment, Arun is the trainer for you. read more

Like everyone already stated. Arun is a great coach and a great motivator. Even though he frequently beats me up in BJJ, he's always done it in a friendly and professional way; giving me plenty of advice on improving my experience. If you haven't tried Arun as your fitness coach, what are you waiting for? read more

I've attended both bjj and personal fitness classes with Arun. The best thing about Arun is that he is a caring trainer, and he truly believes that what he is doing is important and can/will make a tangible difference in your life. He demonstrates this in every class I've taken with him through his positive, forward-looking attitude, his insistence on making the progress of each of his students a personal responsibility, and his view that training and the rest of one's life are intertwined. Bottom line. If you are dedicated to making real progress in your personal fitness, then dedicate your time towards your goals with Arun, and you will meet them. read more

As I am complete noob to jiu-jitsu, coach Arun always helped me feel welcome amongst the more experienced class and always knew how to motivate me without pushing me too far. In my short time training with him (I left due to work conflicts not the quality of training) I felt like I learned a ton and I fully intend to return when I am able to. If you are looking for a great working with a top notch instructor I highly recommend speaking with coach Arun. read more

I have known Arun for a number of years now and I have witness his growth as a trainer, athlete, professional and overall human being. Originally, I remember Arun having an incredible, die-hard passion for improving his own Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training. That drive translated to his pursuit of Strength & Conditioning. Arun's dedication has pushed Arun up a vertical learning curve and his expertise in Strength & Conditioning is on par or beyond his skill in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Arun has quickly generated a league of followers and for good reason - his attitude about training is conveyed to every single one of his students and clients. There is a reason why he has 5-star reviews across the board! Do yourself a favor - train with Arun at least once. You'll experience first-hand what all the other reviewers are saying. Reach your goals with Arun, he is credible, consistent and more than anything else, caring. :] read more

Arun is first and foremost a genuinely great person and shows that he truly cares. I've had several one-on-one training sessions with him and I've rarely seen someone so dedicated. Not only is he very attentive during sessions, he'll follow up with additional readings/materials/links in between sessions that he believes may help his clients further progress in achieving their goals. He's very knowledgeable and intelligent and is a great communicator, always providing explanations and the "why" vs. just demoing movements or techniques. Great personality and sense of humor, but he's definitely all business during your sessions so that you can get the most out of your time. Whether it be for strength & conditioning or BJJ, I highly recommend you reach out and train with this man! You'll be happy that you did! read more

I've been training with Arun for the past few weeks and the results so far are amazing! I encourage everyone to train with Arun! He's the Best! read more

Arun is an exceptional athlete who cares very much about his clients' results in every aspect of their life. His approach to training is to not just teach you how to pick up heavy things or apply a submission, it is to incorporate key aspects to improve your body and mind. Arun's training sessions are geared toward each person's/class goals and as such he takes care to try to develop the most efficient workouts to help you to learn and become strong at the same time. What really sets Arun apart is his ability to absorb information and willingness to learn from his students. As a BJJ instructor, he is always watching videos and discussing them with training partners of different philosophies, body types, and ranks to understand the tact that different people might take to achieve a similar goal. As a fitness instructor, he finds a way to make even the most difficult workouts enjoyable, which helps to lead to his ultimate goal of fostering a sustainable healthy lifestyle. read more

I have been training with Arun for a little over a month and believe he is an outstanding instructor. With each movement, he not only explains the "how" but he also explains the "why". For each position, he will give reasons for the purpose and how it works on a physiological level. Even when he answers simple questions, he would provide a different perspective to make sure everybody understands. In addition, his passion is also evident in the culture in his classes. He has cultivated the perfect learning environment where anybody can ask each other help. There are no egos in this gym even if there is a wide range of skill levels in a class. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in trying out brazilian jiu jitsu as he can help you develop a passion in this martial art as he did in me. read more

Arun is an incredibly detailed and encouraging coach who will push you to achieve physical and mental breakthroughs on your bjj journey. I've been training with him five days a week for the past several months and reaping the rewards of his close attention. His group classes feel like privates with purposeful drilling focused on honing bjj fundamentals as a priority over flashy techniques. Then usually an hour of rolling which has increased my explosive endurance and physicality by miles. Arun has the mind of a seeker and I enjoy our philosophical musings after class as well! read more

One of the most knowledgeable and patient coaches I ever encountered. Coach Arun is a specialist when it comes to grappling or BJJ. I trained with him for a brief time and my game shot up in those brief moments. He is also a fitness trainer and is very knowledgeable in that also. He isn't just a coach, but is there to be your friend. Highly recommend anyone in the Westside to have him as a trainer. A great asset to your BJJ game and to getting back in shape. read more

I have trained in various forms of martial arts my whole adult life. I've been a long term student at many schools and the student of many instructors. Last year I began training in MMA with Arun Sharma at Robot Fight and Fitness. He is extremely talented both as a martial artist and a teacher. He brings a positive energy to every class and never fails to communicate information clearly and guide his students through the lesson. He also kicks your ass in a good way. I lost a lot of fat and gained muscle while taking his 7am intro class. It is a tough workout, but also really fun. I also learned a lot about Brazilian Jujitsu in a short amount of time. Within a few months I was confident with the basics and ready to move on. I would highly recommend Arun to anyone looking to learn BJJ and get into shape. read more
