He will often sacrifice his own workout time to accommodate a client. Since I can't do personal training as often as I'd like, Lance created a personalized "Push Day" and "Pull Day" program for me that I can take to the gym and do on my own. He doesn't judge you and genuinely cares. He has celebrity clients and has trained some huge names, yet he makes me feel equally important. His new studio location is full of brand new equipment and is in a cool spot in Glassell Park near all the new restaurants there. Plus his dog Bud is adorable! He'll hang out with you while you work out, so you get a dose of animal therapy too. I worked with Lance a while back but fell off. Lance has actively encouraged me to get back into motion. They're always nearby to make sure my form is correct, and they never lose patience when I ask them to remind me how to do certain moves. Speaking of supervision, I went to Lift today for the first time in about a week and a half, and I told Chenell that I've been experiencing some pain in my left shoulder. She sent Dirk outside to talk to me about it, and after I described my symptoms, he re-wrote part of my workout and continued to check in to make sure I wasn't in any pain. I felt super safe and respected, and there was ZERO pressure for me to push through any discomfort. Hiiiighly recommend this place!

The environment is welcoming, supportive, and most importantly, safe in every way. As a woman, that matters more than it should, but here we are, still at that point in this dumb world, unfortunately. I have never once felt uncomfortable working out there. The gym itself has six stations, which makes it feel like a semi-private training experience and all of the training is with free weights. Every workout is tailored specifically to me, which is a huge benefit. I'm a former ballerina with injuries and fibromyalgia, so I need a lot of modification in my training, depending on the day. They always meet me where I am at and we adjust as needed. They also still manage to keep things challenging when I express wanting to push further but it is always in a way that feels safe and productive. One thing I especially appreciate, coming from a dance background, is how much they focus on body mechanics. Dirk, Chenell, and Emily don't just tell you what to do or demo it once and walk away. They actually take the time to explain what's happening in your body, how to move correctly, and why it matters. Over the past almost five years, I've gotten noticeably stronger and my body has changed for the better but beyond that, it's had a real impact on my mental health, too. Showing up here feels good; so good, that I recommend the gym to many of my friends. If you're looking for a place to train and a workout that's personal and supportive with real results, this is the place.

Joo Hee is super helpful and responds fast whenever I have questions about my program, my form, anything. She's there to help. She took the time to learn about my history of powerlifting. Used that information to create a program that helps me get better and stronger.     Training with JooHee has honestly been such a special experience for me. Before we started, I truly…read morenever thought I was someone who could lift weights--it felt intimidating and out of reach. But in just six sessions with her, that completely changed. She guided me so patiently, explained everything in a way that made sense, and kept encouraging me. Now I can actually lift weights, and more importantly, I believe that it's something I can do. That shift means so much to me. What I love most is how she makes every session feel both meaningful and fun. She's always sharing something new--whether it's about lifting, food, or just little tips related to workouts. She creates such a positive environment that pushes you while still making the process enjoyable. I'm truly grateful to have her as my trainer.

    Background: I took a complimentary class with a loyal client of the studio a few weeks ago. I…read moredidn't know reservations were required, but was very appreciative of the owner's invitation to attend, despite the full class. Karl was supportive, positive, professional and both trainers gave individualized attention to the 11 people in the room. The classes really should be more like 6-7 people for the space though, and they could have spent more time demonstrating the circuit to help people avoid injury since it's faster-paced. Overall, good trainers, accommodating and challenging. I've been planning to purchase a bulk package for the year so I could attend on Saturdays with my friend, and in the meantime, I actively engaged with the Instagram page, trying out their exercises on my own, liking their posts, and recommending it to two of my own clients and a friend, just after the one session. However, as a business in 2017, how you interact with the public on social media is critical. Their Instagram is a nice extension of what they do in the classes, but I started to find some of their meat shaming rhetoric offensive (and PS: I'm not alone in this). I am not anti-vegan, simply a strong advocate for food and body positivity-- there are lots of ways to practice a healthy lifestyle. So I spoke out, letting them know that I found the tone to be repelling, and that it made me question whether the studio was the right fit for me. I shared my own negative experience as a vegan and pointed out that there needs to be substantiated evidence on the claim that "dead animals" cause inflammation of one's olfactory senses. If you're in the business of handling people's health, peer-reviewed, evidence-based, clinical science is kind of important... Perhaps my comment lacked decorum, but nonetheless, there is a way to handle negative comments productively-- they could have easily won me over with a single sentence. But instead, the business chose to become defensive, argumentative, and hostile, engaging in downright school yard bullying tactics. The business exploded my feed, strategically singling out dozens of my photos of unhealthy, caloric dense, meaty celebratory meals, and liking them; a passive aggressive move, as if pointedly saying, "Oh yeah, you wanna say something negative about OUR food choices, fatty?" Then, one of their clients surpassed the passive aggressive by directly calling me fat, lazy and a sugar/ saturated fat addict, making gross assumptions about my eating, body and workout habits, which the business tolerated and agreed with. All because I expressed the fact that I found the tone of her post to be insulting. You are supposed to be in the line of lifting people up and inspiring them. And while there's always some annoyingly sensitive PC client who takes offense to *something* (and perhaps that was me this time) how you handle people who express dissenting opinions is revelatory, and in this case, it demonstrates a severe lack of professionalism, insensitivity, and a disturbing vein of intolerance pulsing beneath the veneer of an otherwise decent studio.

I have been working with Elliot since May and the results are what I always wanted and more. I've been overweight and out of shape since my 20's and knew something needed to change, like now. My health was deteriorating, I was always tired, had no energy to do anything, poor eating habits and I finally decided enough was enough. I joined a indoor cycling gym in 2015 and I loved it but I wasn't getting the results that I wanted so I decided to step up my workouts and contacted Elliot. Let me tell you, it was THE BEST decision I have EVER made!!! After our initial consultation, they provided a nutritional meal plan that was very easy to follow and explained to me the importance of good nutrition. Elliot was always there for me when I had any questions. I started out at 2x a week and have now increased to 3x a week. My first session really put into perspective how out of shape I was but Elliot motivated and pushed me to continue and not give up and I didn't! My body immediately started to show changes, I was sore in places I never knew could be sore and I loved every second it. I'm finally getting the results I've always wanted but never could achieve. I have lost over 15 lbs, several inches from my body (down 4 pant sizes) and I'm stronger, both mentally and physically. I now have the energy and confidence to do things and my body craves the workouts. All this would not be possible if it weren't for Elliot and their mad training skills, motivating and pushing me all the way. Elliot is truly an amazing, attentive and inspiring personal trainer and is worth every single penny and then some. I've tried personal gyms and just couldn't get motivated or into it. I needed the one on one with someone who truly cares about their clients and I found this and so much more in Elliot. As you progress through stages over the course of weeks/ months, you do different exercises, and each time you progress I guarantee your muscles feel it again. Now who doesn't have 20mins to spare? Second, the trainers - Adrian, Maggie, Autumn, are fantastic. No where else will EVERY single trainer greet you by name, check in while you are training to correct your form and provide other exercises to help you reach your goals. Third, this isn't just a gym. This place is for your overall fitness. They regularly conduct talks on nutrition and measure your weight/ body fat to ensure you are getting results. I even lost inches on my calves! Most of all, they aren't preachy. They share but ultimately respect your decision on what to do. Fourth - and this really shows their customer service, I had to stop my membership after 3 months because I am leaving the country for good. Still that smile, still trying to make sure my next workout session has been booked. Seriously, if you are hesitating, just spare 30mins to give them a try. I guarantee you won't regret it.
