He was patient, encouraging, and made her feel comfortable and confident in the water. Eddie explained everything clearly, gave her great tips, and made the entire lesson fun and relaxed. He did a great job making sure she felt safe while still giving her the confidence to get up and catch some waves. It was so much fun watching her surf and have such a great time. Definitely one of the highlights of our Maui trip. We highly recommend Maui Beach Boys, and especially Eddie!

We signed up for the group lesson but it ended up being just 4 people with 2 instructors so my daughter and I had our own instructor which was amazing. Our instructor was Eddie and he did a great job. He was with us, helping us and coaching us every step of the way. The location was also perfect for beginners. Despite having no experience we were both able to catch and stand up on several waves. One FYI is that using the address they give our maps was directing us to a place across the street. You want to park in the beach park parking lot and find the truck with their name on it. This experience was the highlight of my vacation.

We first walked in and immediately felt the passion that both Katie and Michelle had for not only teaching but for the kids. And it's definitely evident when we see them with our child. Below are just some of the many reasons we love the school: They follow the DOE (department of education) calendar. If you have other kids, you know how important it is to have them all off at the same time for vacations!  Small class sizes. The kids get the one-on-one they not only need, but deserve. The teachers really get to know the kids on a personal level and it shows when they do the parent teacher conferences. They are able to articulate where your child is excelling and where they need extra attention and give you the support you need to help them at home.  Strong Montessori foundation. We've explored many other types of schools but have found that Montessori is the absolute best for our child. She's just started Kindergarten and will be well above 2nd grade level once she's finished.  After school programs. The school offers many exciting after school programs that the kids love like soccer, dance, science and even yoga. These really benefit us in particular because they go beyond the normal school hours and work best with our work schedules.  Price. Very affordable especially considering the quality education that the kids receive and there are plenty of programs for financial assistance (preschool open doors).  Cultural/environmental awareness. One thing we really love is how our child is now very aware of their environmental footprint and how they can make positive changes. For instance, they have a Monk Seal responder team that will actually go out and meet when there is a Monk Seal sighting. This hands on approach is such an amazing way for the kids to learn. Also, the school is great at having lessons based on the Hawaiian culture and Maui in general.  Mahalo Nui Little Monk Seal Montessori!

Our kids learned to swim here and attended the camps during summer break. Although this is not the largest gym on Maui, it has spin classes, yoga, weights, racquetball courts, and a swimming pool. For families with young children, including babies and toddlers, you can pay a nominal fee for child watch while you workout. On some evenings they have child watch for couples that want to go out on a date. Swim classes are on Saturdays, but you can also do private lessons. This is good for younger children that are shy and need extra attention. They have camps during Spring, Winter, and Summer breaks. During summer, the cooking camp is especially popular and fills up the fastest. The swimming pool is heated and is a popular hangout, especially on weekends. The Y offers a lot of options. Although it gets crowded in the morning with seniors and teens in the late afternoon, it is less crowded and cleaner than the other gyms in town.
