Although Chelly is the hair care professional, she treats her clients as if they are. I recently had my haircut by her. When I showed her the pictures of what I was going for, she provided no feedback. Then as she cut and I asked questions, she laughed at me, spoke to me in a condescending tone as if I should know the answers. She cut, shampooed and "styled" my hair in less than 30 minutes. My haircut is extremely uneven, looks nothing like what I requested and much shorter and I had plenty of length. Ms. Chelly is great! I've had her style my hair twice now. The most recent visit I had with her was yesterday afternoon. I had been wanting to try a new, shorter hairstyle and she gladly and warmly took me in for an appointment. For me, it is always very hard to achieve a hairstyle that I like because of my unique hair texture (I am of mixed ethnicity and have a very thick and curly head of hair). However, Ms. Chelly knew exactly what to do and took great care and caution when it came to my style. She was diligent yet precise, she always made sure I was comfortable with the steps she was doing to my hair, and as always, very nice and cheerful. Was in town on extended vacation and needed a specific relaxer. I read the fabulous reviews on Yelp and gave Chelly a call. She was very nice and texted me a link, where I could make an appointment. I had to pay for the service in advance, when I made the appointment online, and I was apprehensive about the price and specifically going to a new salon in COVID. I asked if I could bring in a specific relaxer, and she did not oppose. (All stylists aren't so flexible.) She did an incredible job! She trimmed my ends and did a slight cut into a perfect, manageable, BEAUTIFUL style! The next day, my hair still looked amazing! Chelly is very warm and kind. I always have COVID concerns, having known people who have suffered greatly from it. I try to be very careful. Chelly clearly sensed my concern because while I took my mask off of my ears, I held it onto my face with one hand. She offered to wear a mask, but others in the salon did not wear one. The other stylist, who was there at my appointment time, was at least 15 feet away in the open space, so no one was really close. Having known someone, who contracted COVID in a barbershop, I'm very careful. So masks are a big deal to me. (I went prior to the mask mandate.) Regarding my hair alone, my experience was AWESOME! Chelly got me in and out in great time! My hair and cut were FABULOUS, and I couldn't be happier. read more

I went to the Salon named Hair. I got serviced by a beautician there, I also bought some clip In extensions. I was satisfied with Chellys work. However I was charged $261 including the tax for the clip ins. I went to a local hair store 2 days later the same exact hair was $89! I was shocked and felt robbed. I communicated with the owner, they claimed the price was 3 times higher due to foreign suppliers getting better pricing vs African American suppliers. read more

I needed coloring in my hair and am very careful about social distancing and wearing a mask. When I sat at the wash bowl for Chelly to do my hair, I noticed she didn't have a mask on but I did. I asked her if she could put on a mask since she was going to be hovering over me to wash my hair. She told me she had hot flashes and that she couldn't put it on but I was told to just keep my on. I told here that my mask only protected her but if she didn't wear a mask, there was no protection for me. I explained to her that I too have hot flashes and I know how they work. They don't last forever, just a couple of minutes. I thought perhaps when the episode of hot flashes was over that she would put the mask on. She never put the mask on. I sat next to people at the dryer in close proximity to me with no mask on and no one in the salon had one on. I felt very uncomfortable. She could have put a mask on and this would have been an easy fix but she didn't put it on. This was my first time coming to her and it will be my last.
