Do not do business with this company! We don't mind paying for quality but being raked over hot coals is quite another thing. Had a snapped Torsion spring replacement job done by Victor who was very efficient and knew what he was doing on the Doors that were installed in 2018. They charged $720! The springs retail for max $135 the pair and it took him 20 minutes to do the job. Even if you were to charge $100 for a house visit and minimum 1 hour labor charge that would still be a higher labor rate than the local Ferrari dealership in Los Gatos. ABSOLUTE HIGHWAY ROBBERY. Assholes. The owner or owners, assuming those two older brunette and blonde Caucasian ladies were not, need to really get their act together in terms of who they hire. I was temporarily double parked because of the poor parking job from one of their employees while readying my inspiration photos and they were immediately combative; stating that I needed to move as the space was for customers only. I stated that I was a customer and apologized as I was about to adjust (it was difficult to find parking with the ram-job from whoever double parked the blue truck and something spilled in my car). This was met by ignoring my statement and pettily adjusting the "reserved parking for AGD guests only" sign after I clearly stated that I came in for my parents and potentially my own home that would've required at least EIGHT CUSTOM doors throughout. If you're going to be so miserable to a potential customer you've barely interacted with then perhaps retire or find a job where you don't have to work with others. I immediately left after this poor display of service and will be bringing my business elsewhere. We got a great door that was expertly installed, and at a great price. Artistic manufactures the door we wanted - sapele mahogany with cascading tempered glass inserts running vertically up one side of the door. Artistic's price was 15% less than the nearest competitor, and included superior installation hardware and a pair of long-service-life torsion springs (this is a big and heavy door). Installation included scribing to snug the floor line, and adjustments to the door jamb framing (ours is slightly uneven) so that the door bottom aligns with the lip of the garage floor. Love these people. Great little business. They are people of their word and that's what matters to me. We had a very expensive garage put in our home and for some reason it was making some kind of noise that didn't sound right. We spent well over ten thousand dollars on this door, so I was a bit upset. But they put up with my voicemails and they made it right, not once, but two times. No charge and no questions. I had a great experience with Artistic Garage Doors. The original owners of our house had a beautiful redwood garage door installed by them years ago. When one of our springs eventually broke many years later, I called Artistic. They came out and took measurements - turns our our big heavy garage door doesn't use a readily available, standard size spring. This was during the supply chain issues a year ago... they weren't able to source the exact springs we needed, so they went to a backup plan and had some springs cut by a local source. We have our garage door made and installed by them in 3/2018. After we move in our house in 9/2018, we notice that the garage door makes loud squeaky noise. So I called and left massage concerning to the noise. Marge, the owner called me back and said that she will have her tech to stop by to adjust the door when they have work to do in my area. I kind forgot about it. When my neighbor complained about the noise again yesterday, I realized that she's never sent a tech come to adjust the garage door. So I sent her an email. I just got off the phone with her. She has the nerve to tell me that since the door is out of warranty, she has to charge for the service!!!!!! I called her last Sept when we noticed the problem! She's never sent her tech to adjust the garage door as her promised. Now she wants to charge for adjusting the garage door for the noise!!!! She was so rude, talking over me and denying that she has never had that conversation with me. I trusted her when she said she was going to send a tech. I was being nice and understood that they may not have work in my area often. Now she wants to charge me for the problem that has been there from the beginning. One more thing, I later found out that there are options that come with making and installing the garage door. But I was never given the options. We shopped several garage door shops for our new doors and after reading the Yelp reviews and based on our experience with each one (and in spite of their higher quote), we ordered our new garage doors from them. Marge assured us that we would be very satisfied with the job. Marge was very helpful through the process and 4 weeks later, our new fiberglass garage doors were installed. One of the doors was getting scuffed and the installer said it would work itself out; 3 weeks later after it had gotten worse, they had to return to adjust the stop...and I asked for a touch up kit to repair the mark. My concern was that the door color did not look like the sample we had ordered from, so I wanted to make sure we received the correct color kit (PLUS Marge told us that particular style of door was only available in one color). I took photos of the doors and went down to get the sample to compare it to our doors. I was told the salesperson would have to bring the sample to us and I was not allowed to take it and return it myself. So do they check the doors against the purchase order before they are installed? I don't know. If they did, they either missed the difference, or they intentionally installed them hoping we would not notice the difference. Long story short, the doors WERE the wrong color and 1 month after it was called to their attention (and while they researched trying to refinish the doors in the proper color), they agreed to order us replacement doors. The new ones were installed a couple weeks ago (we originally ordered the doors in January). But after spending a 10% premium to have Artistic Garage Door handle the job, we did not get the trouble-free job we were promised. Yes they finally replaced the doors, but the hassle was needless and inexcusable. Plus, after the long and drawn-out process, since the replacement doors were installed, we have not received a call to make sure all was ok nor did we ever get an apology for the mistake. read more

I had a great experience with this business, on multiple dimensions. - they were recommended by another workman who came by my place. I love it when people in the construction biz will recommend people that they themselves know and use. - I had a broken garage door window that needed to be replaced. The woman gave me a price range right over the phone, which I always appreciate (some people won't quote you numbers on the phone). - She also walked me through a diagnosis of what kind of glass I needed -- I didn't know a darn thing other than the old glass wasn't tempered. She very reassuringly walked me through a few questions of "does your old glass look like this or like that" and we quickly got to the right answer. The new window is a perfect visual match to the old ones. - they had a guy drop by and do quick measurements. - when they got the glass back from the cutters, they came back by and installed it. Again very quick onsite work, and very affordable (half the price I was quoted by another place). - another big plus to me, is that they weren't trying to push a sale on me. When I was on the phone with them, I asked for ballpark figures on a new garage door -- mine is old and I've wondered if I should replace it. The woman on the phone, in conversation with me, figured out that I have an old redwood door (the kind nobody makes anymore) and she pointed out that the door should last a long time, that I probably didn't need to replace it unless it got broken. I always appreciate it when businesses are honest and don't try to push things on you that you don't need. Overall very positive experience. This place saved me time and shipping on a part I really needed for my garage door. I searched in vain for a local company that sold a particularly hard to find part which is normally only available online. Even Sears didn't have it and they have most every part available for Genie openers. Called them on a Saturday as I have been manually opening my garage door since the beginning of the week and was very happy when they told me they had the part --- in stock! Our garage door stopped opening and closing one day, and we called Artistic Garage Door because we'd used them before and they are local. They set up an appointment for the next day and came out in the early part of the time window they gave us. After determining the cause, we had two options; one to replace the part it needed and one to replace the entire opener. Since the difference in the price was not that much, we chose to replace the entire thing and I am sure glad we did. A lot has improved in the 15 years since our last one was installed. The service person, whose name was Huv, took a lot of time to explain how the new opener worked, He also lubed the track and told me what to do if in the future I wanted to do it myself. He cleaned dust and lint off of the track before he lubed it. It is now so much quieter and smoother than before. Finally, Huv programmed the Home Link system on a vehicle I had, so that I didn't need a separate remote control, and saving me the time I would have needed to learn how to do it. These extras that Artistic Garage Door did made us want to use them in the future, as well as want to acknowledge their good service on Yelp. read more

I was literally in their parking slot for 30 min or less. The owner called to have my car towed. I ran out and had to pay $120 to have it unlatched. There is lots of parking. Very disappointing. They failed to call me 30 minutes prior to their arrival as I requested. Actually they failed to contact me at all, prior, during, and afterwards to reschedule. Well when I was finally able to reach them they had a surprise $100 fee for the appointment That was missed. When I explained this was not only my fault, the woman refused to believe me saying "that can't be true because I would have written down your request to call 30 minutes prior to the arrival". Our garage door works find and is functional, but I was very disappointed with the customer service we received from their office and installers. We ordered our garage door and confirmed the lead-time needed for the door. We were on a tight schedule as the house was going to be put on the market. As the lead-time approached we called to confirm the installation date. We were told it would be an additional 1-2 weeks from what we had originally been told and that they "didn't know it was a rush." Delays like this can be extremely detrimental to a construction plan. When the installer finally came he was extremely rude. Not only was he short when it came to explaining how the garage operated and how it was going to be installed, he ended up cutting off part of a shelf in our garage to make it fit - without telling us first! The aluminum door installed by Artistic Door required fixing a slipped mullion, which the company handled less than a month after my previous 2011 post. However, the same mullion slipped again around Christmas 2011, when Artistic Door was closed for the holidays. Once contacted in early January 2012, Marge said she was very busy and would call the manufacturer if she had time in what sounded like the very distant future. My spirit sagged right along with that mullion, but after contacting the manufacturer myself, the fix is now back on track by another garage door installer. I had called about a week ago for someone to come out to render an estimate on new custom garage doors for a house (in San Carlos) I had recently purchased and moved into this past weekend. I requested a Saturday appointment and was told that they did not work on weekends. I took the first opening which was today and told that someone would be out between 8:30-10:00 am. I took the entire day off from work since I work in Pleasanton and too difficult to drive back and forth. At 8:10 am I received a call that the estimator needed to reschedule given he was at a conference! How unprofessional can a business be to call 20 minutes before the scheduled time! Do they not think that people don't have full time jobs and most likely took time off to be available at the scheduled time given by the company? Could they not call to reschedule the week before? I was unimpressed with the overall experience with this company. I had them come out to give us a bid on custom garage doors and they were made beautifully. The problem is that they did not take pride in the finish installation work. There was a substantial gap at the bottom of the doors where leaves could blow in. When I complained, they came out and added an aluminum brush. I would have thought that would be part of the custom installation, but apparantely not. They charged us an arm and a leg for that. We discussed it during our initial meeting and they ilater nformd me it was not part of the quote. Shouldn't the experts know that would be needed? There was even a gap at the top of the doors that was not covered by the facia board. The gap was about an inch , so wind/ rain would come right in to the garage. I had to add another facia board to cover the gap. Again extra cost and my time to install. We paid thousands of dollars for a custom garage door installation and the finish work came up short. They had no interest in making it right. Several gaps will now need to be caulked and floated prior to painting. Ron was very laid back in his style and ensured it would be another custom job for his portfolio. I have pictures of all the places they cut corners on the finish work. I have never had custom doors made before, so I counted on his expertise to let me know what I should have. He did not, and now I had to finish the job myself. He even left grout on the windows and told me I should scrape the grout out myself when it dried. Really? I paid thousands and he wants me to finish scraping grout? Shouldn't he do that as part of the job? read more
