6 of us decided to do resin boards as a fun Sunday activity! We made a reservation, picked out…read moreboards in advance, and we arrived and everything was set up and ready to go. The staff was so helpful with the process as we didn't know what we were doing. They walked us through each step and gave us a lot of choices for colors and also images for inspiration. We took over 3 hours to create our boards and we were all super happy with the final product. They close at 5pm on Sundays but we ended up there much later completing our projects and we never felt rushed. Thank you, Craftworx! The studio is bright and clean and welcoming. They service wine and drinks and snacks! There are so many different projects to choose from! We can't wait to pick up our dry resin boards (they have to sit and dry for a few days) and we are already planning our next projects!

Place was very clean and organized. Mrs Taylor guided the painting party at a good pace, she was very patient and helpful with the kids. The space is great for maybe 10-15 kids. But through the years it had really deteriorated. It's really old! But Jackie took it and restored it to be even more beautiful than I could have imagined. I knew that it was going to take a lot of work just to get the chair safe to sit in. She took her time and poured her heart into this project. The pictures will show just how great a job she did. Went here for pottery painting. The night before I looked up on their website to check if they…read moreaccepted walk-ins b/c when searching up on Google their name was listed as only "Cordovan Art School" (no pottery parlor). The website stated in bold letters "walk-ins always welcome". However, when I got to the store they had a sign posted on the door saying walk-ins were only allowed from 4:30 to 7:00. This was listed nowhere on the website. Quite inconvenient. As far as paint quality goes, pretty decent. They had a variety of brushes and tools for painting and they gave visuals of how each color bakes with 1, 2, and 3 coats so you have a good idea of how your piece will turn out. I was very disappointed with the finished product after glazing though. There were speckles of colors that I did not have anywhere in my piece and smudges (maybe from overcrowding the kiln? Not sure). Also, I believe they did not correctly glaze my piece as there appeared to be milky drips baked onto my piece that I assume to be extra glaze that dripped down and baked when firing. Quite disheartening as I took the entire 4:30-7:00 time to paint my piece and make it perfect only for it to be messed up during the firing process. The staff were fairly nice except for who I assume to be the owner. The day I went to paint with friends (unaware of the time rule because it wasn't on the website) we arrived at 3:30. The front of the store which featured tables, paint, and pottery pieces was completely empty. So, my friend decided just to ask if we could paint earlier since it was not too far from the walk-in hours (if not, no harm done. Just worth a shot to ask). The owner sharply responded with "No. Absolutely not." with some other explanations about camp. We were totally fine with being told no (again no harm done just worth a shot), but a nicer tone would have been appreciated. Another rude interaction was when I went to pick up my piece. My mother decided to come with me as she had been wanting to paint pottery and wanted to check out the studio. When the owner was asked about their opening hours by my mother (who is hard of sight and who did not get a chance to read the door since I opened it for her), she responded "It's on the door." (referring to the sign posted on printer paper) in a harsh, belittling tone. While I do get it can be frustrating to be asked a question when you have a sign, it does not take much effort to simply answer when asked. She also explained how the new hours were because the children were in camp and how pottery painters were not the priority (although pottery parlor is half of their name so a little misleading). Overall, not a great experience. Don't think I would revisit.

She's 11 and very talented in drawing anime already, and I was hoping the class would broaden her horizons. After one week of camp, she brought home a total of THREE pictures - the mediums were paper, canvas, watercolor, pen, and pencil. They pretty much taught them to copy pictures of characters from Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and Demon Slayer... drawing anime characters is not the same as drawing manga. My daughter also confirmed that they didn't learn a single thing about manga art. While I loved the artwork she brought back, it was very similar to things she produces at home. I cannot wrap my head around what I paid $339 for. She went to a different camp every week in the Summer of 2022, from volleyball to coding, and even another art camp at Sugar Land Art Center & Gallery that cost half as much. Cordovan was the most expensive camp we sent her to, but the least rewarding. I would not send her again.

Purchased three groupons for my sister birthday the day of her birthday. We were late due to…read moretraffic, rain and not being from the Katy area. Michelle our instructor was understanding in these matters and she jugged both the students who were their on time, who were 15 mins into their paintings and my family who were settling in. Michelle got us up to speed within 10 mins of our arrival. The example painting was very intimidating for first timers, but Michelle dissected each section of the example painting with efficiency but realistic tips and tricks. She was super helpful in aiding us with aspects that were to scary to attempt on our own. Their was a 5 minute break were you could sip and snack, but we mostly kept painting because it fun and relaxing. Top 40 hits was playing in the background which allow me to relax even more, and sing lowly the lyrics. Overall we had a blast. Recommendations: wear clothes you can get paint on, you have an apron, but things happen. Have a small bag with you, big hand bags take up space under the table. If you have a Groupon deal, print it before you come. Bring a small sitting pillow, the old backside gets numb when you sit for 2 hours on small plastic stool. Its a unisex restroom, go easy on the liquids. Have a protective cloth and space in your car for transport of your masterpiece after. All in all we had a grand time.
