From the moment I shared my struggles, Vanessa made me feel truly seen, not judged. By the end of my very first visit, I felt so comfortable and reassured. When I returned for a deep cleaning, I was dreading it. My gums were tender and since she needed to go under the gum line, Vanessa recommended numbing my mouth to make sure I didn't feel any pain. She constantly checked in to ensure I was comfortable throughout the process, and it truly made all the difference. I didn't feel a thing, the scraping felt far less intense, and I was shocked to have zero pain the next day. On top of that, she worked so quickly and efficiently that I left the office floating. For the first time in my life, I'm actually looking forward to the next part of my cleaning. I've never felt so welcomed at a dental office. Dr. Isabella was also amazing--she pointed out important things about my airway and mouth anatomy that no other dentist has ever mentioned, and connected them to symptoms I've been experiencing. She's already put me on a path to addressing issues that could really improve my overall health. This was my first time at Shulruff and I plan on going back. Once I arrived, the receptionist was very nice and made sure that I got in on time. Dr. Shulruff was very patient with my abundance of questions and walked me through the procedure. He helped me feel comfortable and at ease, which is not always the case when seeing a dentist! I will definitely be going back to see Dr. Shulruff.

When I read Dr. Shulruff 's credentials I sensed his dental office was the place. I got in right away and appreciated his warm, non-judgmental way. I know that does not read warm but it's true. Dr. Shulruff and his professional staff have a professional, confident and easy way. Trust and being relaxed in the dental chair is important to me. After not seeing a dentist for some time that was a big deal. My recovery from multiple extractions included a prescription for pain but I never had to take it. Instead of the normal week or so, I took two over-the-counter pain pills the day of my visit and that was it. Amazing! Dr. Shulruff calmly answered all my questions in everyday language and I can ask a lot of questions. Even the parking was free in their convenient location at Peterson and I-94. Twice, Dr. Shulruff even called to check in on me. I did not expect that. It's not something you see every day. I was doing great. Very Highly Recommended.

In the time since then, however, certain things have come to light and Dr. Pelc is no longer my dentist. I'm a person who sees his dentist (in this case, Dr. Pelc) very regularly, and possibly even MORE than regularly. 3-4 times a year, for both preventative cleanings and a filling here and there. Really, everything has been fine for the past few years that I've been seeing Dr. Pelc. I recently relocated, however, and needed to find a new dentist. Upon seeing this new dentist (maybe 2 months after having seen Dr. Pelc last), I opened my mouth, and after looking around a bit, my new dentist sat back and exclaimed "What dentist has been taking care of your teeth, and when was the last time you saw them?" When I asked why, the dentist proceed to show me cracked teeth, deep cavities, and tons of other issues that simply could not have developed in the 2 month span since I last saw Dr. Pelc. As it turns out, Dr. Pelc's "conservative approach" is sometimes to do nothing, when something REALLY needs to be done. Because of missed diagnoses, cavities left untreated, and other issues, I'm now in extreme pain, and am needing about $2000 of dental work AFTER my insurance. I've had the findings independently corroborated by another dentist, and wasn't the least bit surprised to hear that a close friend (also a previous patient of Dr. Pelc) was given a similar report by their new dentist. I take care of my teeth, and I rely on my dentist to guide me, give me advice, and TREAT issues when they arise. Dr. Pelc is an exceptionally nice person, but all that niceness didn't go very far in helping to treat and prevent dental issues.

Dr. Harada has changed my perspective on dentists. He's very kind and explains everything he's doing before he does it. He doesn't chastise me constantly for this or that (seriously, dentists, why do you do this?). He doesn't try to fill cavities that are tiny/non-existent. He's up front with the work that you need done and when he thinks you should get it done. His appointments start on time, and he doesn't overbook himself. His staff is very friendly. He is reasonably priced. This is the first dentist that I have actually gone to willingly and regularly. I schedule my cleanings and keep the appointments. I know that doesn't sound like a huge deal, but to someone like me who has been afraid of the dentist her whole life, it's a BIG DEAL! I don't know that having a cavity filled can ever be an enjoyable experience, but it doesn't have to be one that requires a xanax.

The numbing shot was definitely the hardest part for me, but Dr. Andrew Jursik was incredibly patient and worked with me every step of the way to make it as easy as possible. He never rushed me, explained everything, and made me feel comfortable. Once I was numb, the filling and drilling were quick, smooth, and completely painless. The next day no pain or even soreness! He nailed this entire process. My only complaint has nothing to do with the doctor. When I scheduled my appointment after my cleaning, I specifically asked to have my X-rays done before my filling because they weren't taken that day (per my request). I even called before my appointment to remind the office, and I was told they would make a note and let the doctor know. Unfortunately, when I arrived, no one seemed aware of that request. That said, the team immediately accommodated me without any hesitation. Everyone was kind, understanding, and made sure I got my X-rays before starting the procedure. Mistakes happen, and I really appreciated how quickly they made it right. Dr. Pissios took his time later after my cleaning was done with Athena and asked me questions and explained also the x-ray that they took.
