Worst dental experience of my life. I have gone to this office 3 times, the first time I went was for a consultation. They put me in a room alone and forgot I was there! Then the hygienist kept insisting I was there for a cleaning. But I was only interested in a consultation. We agreed on a treatment plan and I paid them 1345.00. To cover the first visit 345$ and 1000$ towards my next visit. Second visit was to see an oral surgeon, have 3 teeth removed and to start a deep cleaning. Before this visit I was supposed to take antibiotics and pain killers. I went to my pharmacy to pick the medicine up, and it had been sent to a Walgreens, miles from my house, instead of my usual Isco pharmacy that I'd told them to send the prescription. At this appointment I was charged 6605$. The appointment was for 9:30, an hour later the surgeon shows up, not even knowing I was on his calendar for the day, then refused to perform the surgery. "My partner missed a day of work to accompany me" They started a partial deep cleaning and I was told the visit would be comped, due to lack of professionalism. After this visit I called to find out the balance of my account. I have insurance paying a portion and I am responsible for the rest. The BOOK KEEPER, is never available, and no one in the office can explain what I have paid for and what I still owe. So I was told by DR Ami that I would be refunded 100% since I'd already over paid by thousands for the work I'd had done Third appointment was to continue the deep cleaning. Once again I tried to get some knowledge of my bill and what I had paid for. Again, the book keeper was unavailable. I never made an appointment to finish the deep cleaning, they still owe me $456.00 and refuse to communicate with me any longer. So in short. If you want to pay thousands of dollars for unprofessional service, and billing with no explanation this is your dentist. read more

I went to this office for 30 years. Since it has become Designer smiles it's become less professional. Today I went in for a cleaning and before the hygienist started she took an X-ray without my permission. (And no thyroid cover) .This year I have had oral surgery and orthodontic care. I have had more than 10 X-rays taken. If anyone had taken a health history that would have come out. I'm so disappointed in the care I received today. She looked at my jaw and my neck, in addition to everything going on with my teeth. She is a skilled educator and cares very deeply that her patients understand their dental situations. I've had so many prior visits at other offices where my teeth are cleaned by the hygienist and the dentist walks in, glances in my mouth and basically says "see you in 6 months - and floss more often." I saw Dr. Prieto (and his assistant, Matt) several times in the span of a few months for catch-up dental work. In addition to doing great work, I appreciate his willingness to explain things in a way that's easy to understand and answer questions. Wonderful listener, very attentive, willing to give his patients breathers throughout longer procedures if needed, which I really appreciated. Additionally, when doing pre-filling numbing, he's a master at making the shots as painless as possible by giving the lidocaine plenty of time to set in -- I hardly felt anything. I went here a little bit ago when I first moved to the area (around october), I had chipped a tooth that had a temporary crown. I usually HATE the dentist and this particular situation was scary. But Fischl Dental associates took me in right away and the fee with my insurance was very low. Dr. Marie Fischl knew that I was so nervous and a little terrified of the dentist and she reassured that I would be just fine. They put a temporary filling where I had cracked the tooth. When I moved to the Chicago area, I asked around about a good dentist. They are as hard to find as a good auto mechanic. After two clients reccomended Paul Fischl, I booked an appointment. He was great. His hygenist was great. Once I became a regular paying client, things changed. I would always be seen by someone other than the doctor I had requested an appointment with. I was on each visit strongly encouraged to submit to an X-ray. I have good teeth, and so far, low exposure to radiation I felt suckered. I don't know whether it's possible to develop a long term doctor/patient relationship these days. Money dictates decisions on both sides. read more
