Came in to do some browsing and she has some very beautiful items. I was taking my photos for my yelp review and she politely asked me not to because of all the artwork in the gallery. She said a lot of people mass produce them, so I just took a few pictures of other items. Jennifer was behind the counter and she was very, very kind and outgoing. A lot of beautiful items. Look at these charcuterie boards! It's a high-end store so it's not inexpensive, but you get very unique artful fully crafted items. read more

We had a great experience with Mary here today. Super helpful. This art gallery carries some great pieces including local artists but also fun art from artists beyond Big Bear. We purchased a metal print of snow summit (see pic) and are so happy with it! I would give them a visit again soon. read more

I had a terrible experience at this gallery yesterday, and wanted to share for others. I went into this gallery excited to find new pieces and came upon a beautiful piece in the ceramics section. I took a picture of the piece and the shop keeper (referred and pictured in other reviews) said "please do not take pictures of the art." Fair enough! I wasn't thinking. I apologized and even deleted the picture to show respect. This woman proceeded to hover over me, so I walked into the next gallery room to gain some space. The shop keeper followed me into this room and was actively watching me. I moved back into the main room and felt her presence, so I told my mom that I would be leaving since the shop keeper was clearly following me around the gallery. My mom told the shop keeper that I didn't mean any harm by taking a picture and asked if she planned on following us for the rest of our visit. The shop keeper said that she was planning on following us. My mom said "well then we will be leaving your store." To which, the woman said, "I will be glad to see you leave." Her treatment of me and my mom was completely unwarranted, rude, and ruined an afternoon of my vacation. Judging by other reviews, this will not be the first nor last time that this woman ruins someone's experience. I will echo other reviewers and warn others to avoid this shop and for these represented artists to find a more professional gallery to display their pieces. read more

Walked in today to buy the metal bat I have had my eye on for a month or so. Yet the old lady, whether she owns the place or is a pencil pusher left a bad taste in my mouth. The way she looked at us ( one of those you can't afford this place), attitude she had, and her lack of people skills made me walk out. I rather NOT buy what I want, then give this place my money. I'm not the only one that has complained about her, there's a photo of her from another reviewer. read more

I read the reviews ahead of time and was expecting the worst coming here, but I've got to say my experience was nothing like what I read. There was no older woman (maybe that was the difference), but the two people at the desk were welcoming and helped me grab pieces and wrap them carefully for my trek home. No one ever followed me or anyone else in the store around, I was able to look in peace, hopefully that will be the experience for others in the future as there are some absolutely beautiful pieces in there and something in all price ranges. read more

This is the one place we always stop at Big Bear. While the art is always beautiful, diverse and affordable it's the staff that gives this place its charm. Jessica in particular is always kind and helpful. She has arranged for us to meet the artists, see them work and even submit special requests. The staff there treats us more like family than customers. You will get all the background you could ever want on the art the area and the people involved. This is truly a gem of Big Bear. read more

Jennifer, the old, grouchy, rude and bad mannered owner of the gallery is so disrespectful . As a former artist there, I was constantly verbally abused and finally left over a dispute of stolen goods performed by her or her staff. I wonder how a shop owner can treat potential customers and artist so rudely and stay in business. Look at the other reviews and most of them are of the same complaint. She stalks' you when you are in the shop, she thinks everyone is out to get her, steal from her. So sad she is such an angry, old, woman. Good luck with your business! I was in Big Bear for my birthday. Thank you for putting a dark storm cloud over my special day. We were walking the main strip when I came across a magnificent photo in this art gallery. I was ready to buy but wanted to looked up more information on the artist. So I proceeded to type the artist name on my phone. Then the elderly lady that owned the shop came charging over saying I had to put my phone away. I proceeded to ask if I could just look up the artist real quick and she spoke very rudely at me "NO!" So I walked off to look at other pieces and then before leaving I wanted to look at the piece that had brought me in in the first place and she had pulled the artist info off the wall. What a miserable person she must be. I stepped out of the store and looked up the gallery on yelp and their website literally listed all the artist on its site. Why was she so intentionally rude to me? With customer service like that she might as well close up shop because she ruined a beautiful photo for me. Even if I bought the piece I wanted, I would look at it and just think of that ugly experience. Stay clear of this place!!!! read more

Beautiful art, terrible shop. The elderly woman who tends the gallery was extremely rude to not only my group but to several other people in the store as well. If I were an artist hoping for my work to sell, I would be pretty disappointed to learn that the gallery was being managed in a way that drove potential customers away. read more

I attended the Big Bear Wine Walk with our entire family (8 people total). They were serving one ounce pours and a huge bar of bite sized desserts. My sister in law and our two daughters (7 and 9 years old) were rudely approached by an older woman who basically accused us of not paying for extra tickets to feed our children(which we had no idea was even an option) and that we were "feeding our entire family off their dessert bar with our one tickets." Mind you our daughters each had one brownie that were bite sized! The woman was beyond disrespectful! I was appalled by such behavior and in front of my small child no less. I will NEVER frequent this location again and I will be certain to let all my friends who also vacation in Big Bear know this story. They should be ashamed! read more

Had never visited this magnificent gallery, until Wednesday when Trish posted on Facebook that her eagle photos would be featured here. Great place to purchase a variety of artworks, including paintings, photographs, wood carvings, metal sculptures as well as many other items. My suggestion is that you shop here and dine at Oakside Restaurant down the street! Very friendly and helping staff! Jennifer goes out of her way to accommodate your every need! read more

Very lovely stuff but I feel sorry for the artists. The shopkeeper kicked me and my friends out because I was taking business cards from the stand. She was very very nasty. I would recommend going across the street to the other art studio and visit John - his stuff is awesome and he's super nice. read more

Jennifer, the owner of Artisans, has gone beyond in providing Big Bear with one of the nicest art galleries on the mountain. She provides great customer service and has a gallery filled with beautiful artwork. Paintings, carvings, jewelry, photography, steampunk lamps and more can be found under one high ceiling! Paintings on feathers and even painted owls on eucalyptus bark can be bought here :) It is a place you enjoy viewing and visiting with the owner or artists who are helpful if you have questions or are seeking out a gift or item for your home or office etc. You can feel comfortable asking for help or taking your time making a selection or just enjoy checking out the variety of interesting, creative and one of a kind items. Plenty here you can purchase as a memorable gift for yourself or another :) I've bought my wife several pieces of one of a kind handcrafted stone and enamel jewelry and she loves them all and she enjoys wearing them. So glad to know where to refer others confidently to buy local artists work and be greeted and welcomed by such nice people.
