There are tables throughout the cafe as well as some couches and you'll see cat toys and beds spread throughout. This time, I ordered the yogurt which came with granola, honey and jam. My breakfast was yummy as well as a Diet Coke. My dad ordered a grilled cheese panini with salad and vinaigrette which was also good, and my step mom ordered La Pèle-méle, a curry seasoned cauliflower dish with chickpeas vegetables and pecans which was the best in my opinion. My step sister ordered the banana pudding which she loves. Personally, I think the food is a little expensive for the quality, but my family and I are happy to come in and support this longstanding business that cares for their kitties. There's a little shop inside with cat toys, accessories and food, so you can pick up anything you might need for your furry friend at home. The cats are very well acclimated to humans and will sometimes jump onto tables nearby you. They're friendly but most are very calm. Note that one of the rules is to not disturb any that are sleeping. Definitely stop by, give out some pets, and sign their visitor book at the front!

Just a few minutes walk from the Laurier station on the Orange line metro, we found this really cute cafe and although it's located on quite a busy street, just down the stairs basically beneath the street level, you'll be in this quaint, quiet retreat from the chaos that is just a few steps above you. The staff were so warm and welcoming and the iced latte was one of the best I had during our entire trip. My wife's matcha latte was also pretty good. Although we stuck with quite basic drinks, they also feature a number of really creative drinks as well if you're in the mood to experiment. This cafe is cozy and not only is it a great place for both espresso and matcha-based drinks, it's a great place to relax and catch up with friends or research your next move if you're visiting like we were. Highly recommended!

Besides the food and drink options, the place also has a shopping area for your pets (e.g. treats, accessories, lick mats). It is…read moreso rare for indoor eateries to allow dogs so we could not be more excited to bring our dog here. There is patio seating on site, but dogs are definitely welcome to sit and eat inside. My husband and I saw so many happy dogs with their owners inside Ruby Café, either laying on the floor or sitting on their owners' laps, while waiting for their own food. There were maybe 5 things on the menu for dogs, but that is plenty enough. We ordered our dog a dog beer, some meatballs, and a little pupcake. And for ourselves, from the human section of the menu, we ordered an iced coffee, a cappuccino, a grilled cheese sandwich, some toast with eggs and potatoes. Ruby Café is after all a café, so they do offer a wide variety of coffee and tea drinks. Overall, the human food was fine - nothing to write home about. But what made us the happiest was seeing our dog devouring his meal. Coming to Ruby Café was all for our dog, and we were so happy to see him enjoy a full lunch service. Lol. The service here was pretty good. The staff were all very nice. You can tell how much they love dogs. After lunch, we went over to the shop section of the café to check out their offerings. The shop was pretty well stocked with dog treats, dog toys, dog accessories, etc. We didn't end up buying anything unfortunately because we mostly get our dog stuff online.

I first discovered it while searching for caneles, since many reviews praised them as some of the best in Montreal. Ordering online was easy -- you can select your pickup date and time -- and that's how my partner and I ended up here. The space itself is inviting and warm. There are plenty of couches, tables, and cozy seating nooks, plus a fun loft/bunk bed setup with cushions where you can climb up, relax, and read or work. There's also a side door that opens onto a small patio with a few outdoor tables, perfect for letting in the breeze on a nice day. We picked up our caneles, which came in flavors like chocolate peanut butter, pistachio, and raspberry. Each was fresh, rich, and delicious -- worth the hype. Service was equally warm and friendly, and the staff spoke English as well, which made ordering easy. In addition to pastries, the café serves coffee and tea, making it a great spot to study, work, or simply unwind with a good book. For cozy vibes, friendly service, and excellent canele, Café des Habitudes is absolutely worth a visit.

By the entrance, I even noticed several pairs of shoes on shoe rack, which made me curious. Once inside, I realized there's a section on the left where people remove their shoes to sit in a tatami-style seating area. There's also outdoor seating in the gardenwhere shoes are kept on, so you can choose whichever you prefer. The café is filled with plants, giving it a cozy and homey atmosphere. Many people were quietly working on laptops or chatting softly, which added to the calm vibe. I also learned that this is a vegan café, and they sell sandwiches and coffees, a few items like handmade candles and other small goods. It's a serene spot that I'd happily return to if I lived in the area--or visit again in the future.

I looked at the listing for La Graine Brulee more than once and had to think about it. I finally went in. This place is indeed weird. However, it all turned out to be better than I thought. There are all these seating areas, with some on either side of the front door and then several on a circular bench radiating from the center and making for quite a few tables. That's where I sat. Take note that there is also a big wooden cube with a lot of graffiti on it. The service was pleasant. I ordered some hot tea and they made a vegetarian burrito for me at late hours. (There's no way in hell you'll find something with meat or poultry in here.) I'm glad I was able to eat something before turning in. The prices were acceptable for what I got and its location, between 2 and 3 blocks east of the city's main Metro station at Berri-UQAM. In looking around, there was a good cross-section of people. It's more about nearby UQAM (translation: students) than it is "Le Village," which is now mid-rise and high-rise condos ... and the cranes that go into making them. Tables with books and laptops were the norm which, in my mind, is a good thing. Either way, there wasn't anyone over 40 here as far as I could see. That said, I don't know how willing I'd be to go back, unless in the same situation, and I have to joke that I don't know if personae who are middle of the road, and right of that, would like it here. However, if you are cut from the same cloth as the ownership and the other patrons, meaning bohemian and "new age-y," then I would strongly recommend it. I'm talking tribe! I will rate it within that context since they are not looking to serve the "mom, apple pie, and Chevrolet" crowd. Also, being on Saint-Catherine Est might foretell its personality, since Est and Ouest along this major thoroughfare can be two different worlds. However, La Graine Brulee delivered on a (vegetarian) burrito and some hot tea that I needed before turning in and did it well.

They have Nintendo that you can play with many games, fun booths you literally have to climb into and just so many apparatuses you can check out. Oh yeah! And my chai latte and breakfast burrito (suggested by the lovely barista) tied it all together to make a perfect experience here. Unfortunately, I lost most my photos from this trip but just trust me on this. Reasonably priced food for how dang delicious everything was! Can't wait to return back to Montreal one day, if I do, I'll have to bring in some of my friends to experience such an awesome, sweet place!
