If you're looking for an HONEST shop with mechanics who know exactly what they're talking about for any car (and motorcycles) out on the road, you better come in to Artisan Motors and ask for Allen or Don. My family and I have brought any issues with any of our vehicles (Toyota, Lexus, Mercedes,Jaguar,Nisan,Ford, and Yamaha) to Allen for over the past 15 years. Seriously, I've known these guys longer than any doctors I've had! - I have Kaiser :( I got my Toyoya Tacoma in 1996. I've been bringing the same truck from high school to Artisan Motors for regular scheduled maintenance up to this day. I kid you not, 197,000 miles later, the truck feels hardly any different in its ride quality since 1996! I owe much of that to Allen and Don's handy work. These guys won't B.S. you or give you the run around. They'll tell you flat out what's wrong and what you can do to prevent it. Nothing more, nothing less. Their pricing is reasonable and they have a good turn around time for the labor. Above all, these are two dudes you can also shoot the breeze with about cars and motorcycles because they've been in the game for some time and they truly love what they do. Their customer service is top notch. If you want quality work at a fair price, come see them. read more

Recommended to me by my best friend, I've been a customer of Artisan Motors for 4 years now. The owners, Don and Allan, are not your stereotypical mechanics. First, they're candid and honest. There's never any pressure or uncomfortable vibe when discussing about repairs. They're not out to scam your dough. All the diagnostics and repairs they've done on my car have been verified by my friends in the field. Second, they know their shizz. We're accustomed to think that quality is disproportionate to price. Not here. Their work, at minimum is sufficient, is good and "guaranteed" (not sure if that's their official policy but anytime I've had follow-up questions/issues they resolved it). They were able to answer all the questions I asked and then some. One and two = peace of mind. There's something to be said about knowing that your car is in good hands, will get good service and at a reasonable price. Final Call: I've been a customer of theirs for four years, I can't see why I can't go fo' mo'... read more

I had great/speedy service from Artisan. Price is good. I do my own work, but since my car is under extended warranty, I have to provide receipts for maint... which needs to be done by a shop. I plan to have Artisan do alot of my work. read more

Hmm, maybe I was in a really good mood with the last review but for the past few times Artisan has been rather lacking. We had some funny sounds going on with the car but they couldn't find it so we had to be called in to show it to them. :/ Then we were charged twice for oil changes even though we'd just had one... So I'm not sure what's going on with the staff but hopefully the next experience isn't so lacking. read more

To their credit they are quick and when I got my car inspected they allowed me to use it as credit for my repair. Downside, they are expensive ($100/hr) and there are other auto repair places around that will charge $80/hr. They also didn't fix my oil leak which I paid several hundred for. read more

Like many of the reviews have already said, these guys are honest. I've been going to them for years and have never felt like I'm being sold on anything. I recommend them to all my friends that live in the area. read more

I agree with the other reviewers. The guys at Artisan are honest and trustworthy. If it's an expensive job, they tell me upfront. I used to be a "gear head" so I know they're telling the truth. They let me know all my options and I appreciate that. Five stars! read more

Talk about service! My clients were out of the country, and their car was parked on the street and had to be moved. I was told by my clients, the car would not start upon them leaving on their trip and that they had the keys! I called Allen (owner), and he arranged for the car to be picked up, and my clients overnighted the keys. Not only was he able to do this in an hours time, but waited for the keys to be sent. My cleints and I were thrilled that Allen was able to help in such a short amount of time. The work performed on the car was completed quickly and at a VERY resonable price. Plus he stored the car until my clients came back into the country. Which by the way, I recently learned, Artisan Motors stores cars on a monthly and yearly bases. WOW - talk about service. I would highly recommend you check out Artisan Motors and ask for the owner Allen Ignus. What a great repair shop! read more

Allen and Don are fantastic! I have an Audi convertible and before coming to Artisan, it seemed like something was always wrong with it. The dealership a couple of blocks away were totally taking advantage of the fact that I had a warranty and were diagnosing all sorts of stuff wrong with my car to make an easy buck. Allen and Don are honest mechanics (they do exist)! I trust that they will not overcharge me and are realistic in what I need to get done to my car and within what timeframe. I have since moved to Oakland and while going to them is no longer convenient, I still always will! read more

Honest, friendly, helpful, and reasonably-priced. We've been using this repair shop for many years.

I came here to see if they would be kind enough to look at my car which has been making a sound akin to toys right before they fall apart. Turns out it was nothing major at the moment but could use some attention. Allan was great and really honest. I liked that he didn't pressure me to get the work done and deduced based on my driving needs what action I should take and what my options were. It's an honest shop. And those are hard to come by. read more

I have never been happier with my mechanic! We take our BMW and our Dodge to Don for maintenance or when we need something fixed. Don will provide you in full detail what needs to be fixed. He is very knowledgeable and actually knows what hes talking about. I highly recommend Artisan Motors if you're looking for a good, reliable, honest mechanic. They always leave my car as good as new! I can't thank Don enough for the great work he does. Bring your car here and ask for Don! read more

I agree with all of the previous comments. These guys are amazing and most importantly, great at what they do, in addition to being reliable and honest. My utmost concern is to feel safe while driving, and Artisan Motors gives me that sense of safety. I feel fortunate to have been referred to them, and I refer them at every opportunity I get. Thank you Alan and Don. You have no idea how much I appreciate you. read more

i've been going to this shop since 1999, and they have kept all of my cars running seamlessly all these years. Thwe owners Alan and Don are great to talk to while waiting for a job to finish. As one of their long time customers it's great to know that they are always friendly, always there when it's just before closing and I'm coming through with an emergency, and they do things right the first time. Of all the shops i've been to in my time I've never had to go back to have something "redone" with them. Even though it' a 30 mile drive for me to the shop, you can't put a price on a good mechanic, and they are definitely worth the drive. read more

I should have done this a long time ago. I haven't found a place that can beat the services and prices of Artisan Motors. I needed a 30K service for my 2008 Santa Fe and I called the dealership to check how much they were going to charge $600. I went to Artisan to have the service done and my total with taxes was $551.00. You say only $50 difference? I left with a brand new 6yr battery and new wipers. Those 2 items alone are at lease $100. Alan and Don are very honest people. You want excellent service and great prices then bring your car to Artisan Motors. read more

I took my car to their new location. Very easy to get to. They also have indoor vehicle storage. Thanks for the quick service on my car. Tom R read more

Im a total car guy until about 1990 when they started putting a computer in everything then my skills well stopped, so I take my newer cars here for almost everything they always go the extra mile. They check headlights etc even when your just getting your oil changed. I totally trust these guys. There not going to run up a tab on you. read more

Allen and Don are the best. They go out of their way to keep the repair cost down and are always available to answer any questions. I cant say enough good things about them and their company. Kerry F read more

I think Artisan motors is an excellent shop. Since my Toyota fell out of warranty I have taken it here and plan to continue doing so. My truck runs like new. Thanks guys! read more

My car got hit on the left front wheel side while in SF and had to take it into the shop. The left front wheel was making noise and the steering wheel was not aligned. I had some dents on the door that made a noise when the door opens. Took it to this shop the next day and Alan was able to take it in. He gave me a very reasonable price for all repairs which included alignment, smog check, cutting out some plastic under the wheel so that it doesn't make noise when it hits the tire, fixed the dent on the door so there was no more noise, and catalytic converter. I had check engine light on and the code was for thermostat issues and catalytic converter. Got everything done at once while I was here. The timing of the work only took a couple days - only because they had to wait for parts. All in all, I had a great experience and will continue to bring my car for repairs here even though I live far away. It's hard to find a good mechanic/repair shop that you can trust. read more

Five stars for Artisan Motors! Alan and his team are professional, honest and affordable! This review is long overdue, but I wanted to take the time write a good one. My car was having an issue and literally stopped on the freeway and wouldn't start. After having a conversation with Alan, I was able to get the car towed and to the garage. Within a couple days, I was able to pick it up all fixed and ready to go! It was fast, easy and effortless on my end. Thanks Artisan Motors! read more

I have been to numerous mechanics all over the Bay Area, but have never been satisfied. As a woman, I feel that many mechanics are dishonest and try to take advantage of the fact that I don't know a spark plug from a rim. When I took my car in to Artisan to get the brakes done and to inquire about an unusual noise, the guys there took great care of me and my Toyota. I felt very comfortable accepting their diagnosis and didn't go elsewhere for another opinion. They are straight up and skilled mechanics. I will definitely be bringing my car there for any future work. read more

I believe this to be an honest & talented repair facility with very good customer service. I was introduced to Artisan when I needed to utilize their storage facilities. Then, after seeing their work on other vehicles and how they treated their customers, I decided to have them take care of the maintenance needs on my family's cars. After several (6+ and counting) services performed by them, I am a very happy customer. BTW: Although they are known for their speciality work on Hondas & Toyotas, they absolutely know their domestics as well (including vintage cars). Thanks Alan, Don & Matt for the great work. read more

Allan is great to deal with. They service all types of foreign cars and even my old Saab 9.5. Artisan Motors even offer you a courtesy ride to BART to and from the shop. read more

These guys are honest and very good at what they do. I have been a customer here for years. I called once and one of the technicians fixed my problem over the phone. Now that is service! I can not rate them high enough. they are excellent for small to large jobs! Finally, a car repair shop you can trust!!! Oh, yes and no sales pressure. read more

Great place to take your car. Not the cheapest place, but hey..its Burlingame. Allan is a very friendly and bright guy when it came to my repair. read more

I have been a client with Artisan Motors since 1999. I know that I can always count on Allen and Don to take great care of my vehicle. I have always trusted what they tell me about my car. I know they will never take advantage of my lack of knowledge about my vehicle. As a single Mom they are always willing to work with my time restraints. Most recently my car broke down in Halfmoon Bay. They not only helped me get a tow back to San Mateo they replaced my alternator that day. I was only out a vehicle for a few hours. They went above and beyond!!!!! Thanks Allen and Don your the best. I would recommend these guys to anyone and often do. read more
