This is only the second time I have eaten here, they are very accommodating. We had our engagement party there and they were both helpful and professional. The restaurant occupies the bottom floor with a cocktail bar on the top floor, which has a fantastic lighting and music system. An equally amazing cocktail list to match, my personal personal favourite STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI, which takes me straight back to my holidays! We ate there Tuesday night with two good friends from Chorley, we had a drink in the bar then made our way to the table. There is a normal menu with starters and mains along with a tapas menu. I had the meatballs off the tapas as my starter, I was not let down by the juicy, succulent homemade meatballs. Main course normally I have a steak when we eat out, I thought I'd break the habit so I ordered chicken breast stuffed with garlic and basil, wrapped in pancetta services with new potato's (which were slightly roasted and amazing) along with a creamy tomato and chorizo sauce. Which was to die for!!!!!! After all that I was too full to have a pudding! Defiantly worth a visit!

Oh salut! First time…read moreI walked past this a few weeks ago and saw the enomatic through the window I let out a an actual GASP of excitement. Was pretty excited on the night too, so excited I left my card in the wine machine which made me look like a total amateur. It's much more spacious inside than I had realised, and there are also seats and heaters outside with a great view of the nearby row of traditional pubs with the town hall in the background. I enjoyed trying the various wines (the smallest amount is often £2-3 so you can try a good four wines on a £10 card pre-payment) and could even tell that some of them tasted different, so am basically going to be earning my MW in no time. They also do a few little snacks - my fave baba ghanoush and some rather tasty crisps, although the brown olives tasted too sour for me. Tap water came chilled in a delightful glass bottle. Btw I am not sure there are actually other drinks options here, maybe check that before you go. The staff were efficient and welcoming and I am sure I will be back here. A great companion to hanging ditch and Bakerie in terms of our city's wine bar scene.

Although I now work for an independent wine merchant in Didsbury and am considered a bit of a fussy geek by my friends, I have longed for a good wine bar in Manchester pretty much since I arrived in town over 6 years ago, well before wine was a big thing for me. A few places have attempted it, half-heartedly for some, but none had so far succeeded. Then came Salut wines, first baby business of a lovely couple who like me love good wine and thought it deserved proper representation in the City Centre. An ambitious project that was, not without hurdles. But tenacity paid off and behold, a superb, clean, warm and welcoming wine bar where odd ins once was. Enomatic machines a-go-go, 32 wines are available by the glass at any point in (opening) time. That's 16 whites and rosés and 16 reds. Thanks to these machines you can enjoy a vast variety of wines, all of which are way above your house plonk from most pubs/bars/restaurant. And that's not all. 3 measures are available: 50ml, 125ml and 175 ml. The first one is my favourite. I can play to my heart's content and try a lot of wine before it's time to call it a day. Most wines are between £1.20 and £5 for a glass but you can also try some of the fancier stuff that would NEVER be available by the glass otherwise. Risk-free. Whilst they do not cater, a range of nibbles and tapas plates are available and it's perfectly suitable for a light lunch or diner. Cheese, cured meats and Mediterranean veggie plates, all made with very good ingredients. Music is top notch, not your average lounge "elevator" type nor your bass-boosted frenzy. Blues, jazz, pop, electro... To sum-up, great atmosphere, best wine selection in town, excellent service. The bottle prices to take away are on the steep side of I'm honest but I'll put that down as the location.

Located on Lee Lane in the heart of Horwich, which is quickly becoming a foodie haven, La Salsa is…read morean independent tapas and wine bar which has quickly gained the love of diners both local and visiting with its good quality food and service at a good price. The main draw is the fact that La Salsa offers a menu of over 40 tapas dishes for just £12.95-£15.95 depending on when you go. For this one price you can eat as much as you like, for as long as you like. The menu has sections covering breads, olives, salads, meat, fish, chicken, charcuterie, and vegetarian, as well as a large drinks menu covering beers, wines, liqueurs and spirits, and soft drinks, as well as the occasional special cocktail and sangria jugs. There's a dessert menu too, but most people don't get that far by the time they need rolling out the door! The way things tend to work are that after being seated and ordering drinks, your party will each tell the server two or three dishes (they're numbered too, so don't worry about brushing off those Spanish pronunciation skills you learned in school!), and the dishes are all brought together in small dishes, allowing you to graze, nibble, and share to your own delight. After finishing a "round", the waiting staff clear your dishes and take more orders. In essence you can try everything on the menu through the evening, as many times as you'd like! I particularly like their "Tapas De Pescado" (seafood), which are done very well. To be honest, all of the dishes are cooked perfectly and presented well, and I enjoyed all of the ones I've tried immensely. I've never NOT enjoyed a visit to La Salsa! The venue itself is split into two storefronts, which originally had one unit as the main dining room and kitchen, and the other unit as a bar and lounge area, but with La Salsa's increasing popularity, the lounge area had to be fitted out as another dining room! The décor is traditional and rustic, with stripped wooden floors, chunky wooden accents and artwork, and partitions made from old wooden doors (!), and tall candles on both the tables and against the walls, as Spanish and Catalan music plays giving an authentic feel to the Spanish atmosphere, only spoiled slightly by the ceiling, which is office style Styrofoam ceiling tiles. But frankly who's looking up? There's more food coming! The staff are young, friendly and hard-working. Due to how busy the venue can get, you can expect to order with and be served by several different staff members. Rumours are frequent that staff aren't allowed to keep their tips, and tips are kept by the venue itself. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but with how hard the staff work, I'd be disappointed if I found out if it was. La Salsa doesn't have private parking, so you will have to use street parking, or one of the local free car parks within walking distance, but luckily both options are free. I love La Salsa, and continue to go again and again, as do my friends, parents, in-laws, and anyone else I've introduced to it! If you try it yourself, I guarantee you will too! It's also nice to see that despite lots of local competition, including from restaurant chains nearby at Middlebrook Retail Park, La Salsa continues to thrive and gain in popularity. That shows they're definitely doing something right!
