Great museum. Wonderful art, I wasn't expecting such nice collections. Among the permanent exhibit they have great Mexican artists. Rivera, Siqueiros and Orozco to name a few. They also have a very important collection of leaders of American modernism, paintings and furniture. Kids were very impressed with their Miniature collection and with Stephen Knapp light paintings. read more

This is a fantastic place. The acoustics were great, people I sat next to were great, concert was great. I recommend this to everyone.

I wish the Baker Museum & the Performing Arts Center were separate review sections. I toured the temporary installation of the Baker Museum located in Hayes Hall (due to hurricane damage of the art building). They have pulled off a nice tour in the performing arts venue but it was very confusing to me as a tourist not to understand that I was not in the Baker Museum. I enjoyed the Nevelson "Dawn Forest" of giant white constructs. I also enjoyed the works in the 4 smaller "galleries", a tribute to gorillas, a contemporary color display (Zalisko, Sadler), the 1960s French posters and the incredible photograph-like art of women in water. The gallery viewing is free and the clerks at the desk were friendly. I especially loved the sculptures in the two courtyards and those that surround the entire building. A beautiful sunny day diversion. I do think they have to do a better job explaining the temporary museum situation. I recommend this stop highly. read more

Do NOT buy tickets through Artis. If you cannot use them you are hosed. They won't give you an electronic ticket and won't overnight physical tickets, so you can't resell them yourself. And they won't re-sell them for you. I spoke to the manager, Marta, who was unsympathetic and unhelpful. Save your money for a business with good customer service. read more

If you need a break from the beach and are culturally needing a boost, this is the place to go for concerts, shows, stars, plays and an amazingly vast art collection running from Renaissance to contemporary cutting edge art. And there's a super gift shop and cafe. This is truly a great place within walking distance of Waterside Shoppes. read more

Genre for rating: Concert hall/theatre As far as the two major options for this type of venue in SWFL is concerned, the Phil is by far the classier of the two options (BB Mann being the other). However, what the BB Mann lacks in style, it makes up for in performances. The Phil attracts more symphony, classical arts, readings, etc, whereas the BB Mann always seems to get the more entertaining performances (Seinfeld, Broadway series theatre, etc). However, for pure quality of the venue, it does not get much better than the Phil for such a small area like Naples. read more

Baker Museum is a hidden gem. Visited for an impressive triple play showing - Example from Le Musee de Belles Artes, a mindblowing self-portrait collection, and a one-of-a-kind (in the USA, at least) display of Belgian Surrealism. Staff was very helpful, and they get a lot of mileage out of a moderately-sized space. Docents went out of their way to be informative and funny, too. Great experience! P.S. My Dad raves about the Masterworks series at The Phil. I know the staff are very good to him, and the music and acoustics are top-notch. read more

We've been subscribing "long time" at the Phil; about 30 years. We have primo seats and have made fast friends with the people in neighboring seats. We often meet for dinner before the evening's concert. Kudos to the Phil for building additional women's bathrooms. No longer do we have to linger in long lines, wondering if we'll make it to the loo before the "get back to your seat" chimes play. Bit of advice to newbies: order and pay for your intermission drinks right away so they await you. No lines and a much more peaceful evening to be had as you browse the artwork, drink in hand. And you may be in dire need of that drink. This particular evening we were subjected to Mahler's 4th. (Or, as the Naples News reviewer referred to him: Mahlter). Many aficionados adore Mahler; I don't happen to be one of them. Regardless, the orchestra is top notch. Myra is dearly missed, but the new establishment has ensured that music will reign supreme. read more

We attended a Russian ballet performance at this venue. The venue is terrible and people get dressed up to be in this cheesy place, not sophisticated at all. Concrete walls, plain, bare, terrible seating layout and poor sight lines. We set at box seats #10 last two rows, these are more toward the front. Can see only 30% of the stage, the rest is blocked by other box seats. A number of seats just don't get the sight lines to see the stage. Space planning is a rectangle, barely staggered seating and not angled enough. I cannot imagine a musical performance here, some speakers were broken and terrible sound, zero acoustics. read more

The Naples Philharmonic is a beautiful venue to see a variety of artists, which we certainly enjoy on a regular basis. While I am in agreement that it needs modern artists and performances ~ I question whether the regular patrons are ready for it. During the 2012 winter season , we attended a Huey Lewis & The News concert, as well as a Kansas concert soon thereafter. We are not rowdy people, but there is no way anyone should go to see Huey Lewis & The News concert and sit with their hands folded like good little boys and girls. This is precisely what the majority of the...shall we say...well-seasoned crowd did. At one point, Huey Lewis looked at his watch and asked, "Is it 10 o'clock yet?" We were some of the few who laughed. We have attended at least six Huey Lewis concerts throughout the country where everyone is on their feet having a great time! Much of this crowd seemed indignant that some were having fun. (There was no outrageous behavior that we witnessed; actually it was the tamest H.L. & News concert I've ever attended!) Within the following week, during a chat with a local man, I mentioned that this was the first time I've attended a show where patrons seemed to resent others enjoying it. He rolled his eyes and said, "Oh, you went to the Phil!" As he explained, folks will purchase season tickets for their winter in Naples, then attend everything whether they know what it is or not. In fact, this is not a critique of the venue, as much as a warning to not expect your usual concert crowd. The people who book the shows deserve much credit for attempting to inject some fresh performances; presumably to attract crowds of all ages. Please continue! There are only so many songs of Broadway or Cole Porter shows that one can attend in one lifetime. Keep booking the young singers, jazz troupes, flamenco guitar, pop music (even if it is from the '80's and '90's!) as well as the beautiful classical and opera. It is so important to continue a rich and varied schedule. read more

I enjoy coming to Artis for any event. Its location is convenient, ample parking space and the employees are always very attentive. You can get some good deals for upcoming artist and even if u've never heard of the performer its a great experience regardless. My last visit was to see Patchouli Terra Guitarra, which were awesome! I hear Yanni's coming to town, i see myself making future plans as often as possible. read more

Recently been to sound of music and les miserable. Both were perfect. Great orchestra doesn't miss a beat, with perfect timing. Singing very high grade. And a theatre with good seating. I hope they keep up this level of shows. Really hats off to them. read more

Lots to admire! I can be a cheapskate, I admit it, but even I have to say that $144 for Lang Lang was a bargain. Really. He was terrific, but what surprised me was the orchestra. It was superb. (And I'm picky. Often at the Kennedy center, but rarely wowed by the NSO.) OK, it's not the Disney Hall in LA, but the acoustics are excellent. And the education center offerings are wide-ranging and often intriguing -- the lecture I attended recently was outstanding. Thank you, all you generous donors! read more

Walked into Baker Museum with a positive attitude and my mood quickly went downhill with the ticket service. Dude was an absolute bummer. Should be fired on the spot. I didn't even want to continue my trip in after his rude customer service. Not very pleasant. read more

.Gone is the ART from the Artis-Naples. Bare are the walls. Empty are the glass cases. Closed are the Galleries. A Christmas Bazaar was set up with poor quality decorations and over priced trees. So sad and mad that the prestigeous Naples Philharmonic is the classless Artis. read more

I was visiting Florida last month and had a couple hours to kill in Naples and stopped in to the art museum. It was far better than i expected. The quality of the exhibits was wonderful. The art was beautiful especially the glass art ceiling. The staff was friendly as well. The hours could stand to be better as I believe they closed at 4pm. I almost gave only four stars because of that. Otherwise i adored it. read more

Recently,I returned to the delightful,cozy Baker Art Museum.I enjoyed its fine temporary "Naples Collects"exhibit which ends on June 19th,2016.This exhibit features splendid artworks by local Naples art collectors.Famous painters with splendid paintings in this exhibit included Jacob Van Ruisdael("View of Haarlem"),Jean Leon Gerome,Pierre Renoir,Claude Monet('Etretat,Beach Falaise D'Aval",my favorite work in this exhibit,awesome Impressionism),Rene Magritte,Childe Hassam,and Robert Motherwell.Less famous painters with quality paintings at this exhibit included Isaack Van Ostade,Balthasar Van Ast("Floral Bouquet"painting on copper),William Adolphe Bougereau,Tamara Lempicka("Mrs.Bush"),Frederic Bridgman("Lawn Tennis Club"),and Eric Forstmann("Random Shelf Life")At this exhibit,I also saw fine creations by El Anatsui,Ai Wei Wei("Self Portrait",using lego blocks),Do Huh Suh,and Gregory Scott("Sense of Depth"employing a blend of painting and photography).I also was fascinated with the temporary Paco Pomet exhibit(ends March 30th,2016).Paco Pomet combines photography and painting to produce his fascinating works which in this exhibit had American Western subject matter.Pomet's works included"Lunaticos","Para Siempre",and "La Brecha".As usual,I enjoyed its permanent collection of glass creations by Dale Chihuly.Admission for adults is ten dollars,children under 17 are free,and parking is free. read more
