I came here with my boyfriend for an introductory dance class for country dancing. The venue was clean, warm, and welcoming on that rainy day. I am debating between two and three stars. Here's why: When they called me back to confirm the booking & coordinate a time (which I emailed them to see if they teach country dancing), they said yes, we can do that. When we went there - I brought my cowboy dancing boots and was stoked to learn something new with my boo. They had us wait a little bit (we were a few minutes early). They brought us into a private dancing room and showed us the ropes for some basic dance movements and styles. We did some salsa and merengue and fox trot, etc... but no country. We had a blast and a lot of fun. We were sweating too! But they withheld the country from us. Then after the session, instead of a bye! hope to see you next time, they brought us into the manager's suite to get bamboozled with humungous numbers (price tags) for dance lessons with group sessions. Try 10 classes at over $1,500.00..(and not all of them were for one on one sessions).. Meanwhile, we were seeking something simpler - like closer to the cost of what we paid for the trial ($49.00). When they showed me the form with the classes that they offer - country wasn't listed and when I brought it up, they wrote it in. I/we felt scammed... because when we were waiting to start the first session - they also had me fill out a similar form and there was a box for country dancing on that one. It's really unfortunate, because maybe we'd go back if they had an à la carte option for classes at a more affordable rate. A lot of places do something like $55.00 per class with the tenth one free! We told them we'd think about it so they would let us leave. The manager and our instructor were really pushy. Not to mention, that the instructor "gets to know you" and then uses that against you to get the manager to get you hyped up for a sale. They booked us for the following week at the same time. They were kind enough to call me back to confirm the night before. I advised them that we would not be returning, as per the hefty pricing, and they didn't charge me anything extra. (24 hour cancellation policy) Now don't get me wrong - I'm sure you get what you pay for to some extent, and I'm sure the classes and group dancing are fun (we saw others there enjoying themselves), but the way they went about it was off-putting and I really feel like they should have been more forthright and upfront with us prior to. We don't regret the dance session. Happy feet! read more

Came here recently with my boyfriend who decided that we should try dance lessons. In our package, we received two private 30 minute classes and a 45 minute group class and WOW this was so much fun. Thank you so much to our private teacher Courtney who was patient, kind, and made us feel so comfortable. Not to mention, she is so knowledgeable with the dances and provided so much advice and support. For the group class (which happen often during the weeknights), the other couples in the class were cheering us on! Alicia was a great teacher and walked us through all the dances. If you decide to give dancing a try, make sure you ask for Courtney and Alicia! You won't be disappointed. read more

After 6 private lessons and two group classes, I have to give a glowing review for my new family at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Williston Park. Mike is an amazing teacher and I look forward to every private lesson. Chris and Alena are also wonderful teachers and beautiful people! I am loosing weight fast, having fun and within weeks my doctor had to lower my diabetes medication dose in half! Dancing is so good for your physical and emotional health. I am also really looking forward to all these amazing events they host for their students. The dance studio is so clean and the dance teachers always dress so classy. The students and teachers are all happy and so nice ...it's such a good vibe. I believe the price is very fair and matches the value of the high quality service, exquisite atmosphere and the variety of event opportunities to practice what you are learning. Arthur Murray asked for a review so I'm providing one as requested. The dance teachers are good. However, you should keep looking because you can get the same quality for lower cost. Also, they are very pushy about the many opportunities that they provide for you to give them more money. They asked me to do a "spotlight, " and I had to be told by another student that it cost hundreds of dollars. My teacher didn't tell me that it cost anything when she signed me up for it, and I am sure that her supervisors instructed her to do that. When I asked one of the managers for the cost, she responded with a sales pitch. I had to raise my voice multiple times before she finally told me how much it cost. It was clearly not worth it. Amazing instructors at Arthur Murray Dance, WP. They teach all types of ballroom dance! If I knew how wonderful this experience was, I would have started much sooner. Recommend to all for a fine social atmosphere as well. You take it as far or as little as you want. read more

However, the lesson was very very expensive and the students were constantly pressured to participated additional activities, which require additional fee. We thought we would take one dance lesson but it turned into 6! Everyone at the school is wonderful! They are extremely accommodating scheduling times for lessons and choreographing our first dance in order to make us feel comfortable. Anna, our instructor was excellent- she even helped me learn some greek dancing and some other moves, so I would not be a one hit wonder. And, it worked! I felt so comfortable dancing at my own wedding and had an amazing time! read more

Awesome experience! My wife and I signed up for private lessons a few months before our wedding. The instructors are very talented. They choreographed the entire dance and taught us moves we could use on the dance floor for any occasion. Also, included with the private lessons we had access to group classes and dance parties. It was a great bargain and we got more than we could have asked for. Very pleased and I would highly recommend Arthur Murray to anyone interested in honing their skills or learning the basics. read more
