On friday nights, this place is poppin! I've been here twice so far for the friday night group class and afterparty. From the moment I walked in, the people here were extremely friendly, and the classes are a lot of fun. The beginner classes are very, verrryy basic, so you don't have to worry about feeling stupid just trying to keep up with everybody else.. I've had that kind of experience before. On fridays, they have a party after class so students can mingle and practice what they've learned on the dance floor. Food and beverages are provided as well, and I recommend hiding out in the kitchen area if you want to take a short snack break or something... If you're in the seating area surrounding the dance floor, somebody is bound to ask you to dance.... and how can you resist! :-D read more

The Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Redlands is an all around wonderful place! I purchased a couples package for my husband last Christmas, life got pretty busy and hectic for us and we were unable to schedule our first class until just this month, 10 months after purchase! When my husband called to schedule our first session Dominic was incredibly understanding, and there was no issue with them honoring our package. My husband of 20 years and I were both a bit nervous for our first class, I am especially nervous and shy about being on the dance floor and it can often take a bit of liquid courage and time to get me loosened up enough to get out there! Dominic immediately put us both at ease, we felt so comfortable. In addition Dominic broke down the dance steps in a way that made every dance feel like "oh my gosh I just might be able to do this!" By the end of our first lesson my husband and I decided we would continue with our lessons after our initial 3 lesson package is complete. It is literally the best date night experience! My fiancé and I did the 3 lessons through Groupon not knowing what to expect going in. We'd never done any kind of classic dance. Coming into the studio everybody was very welcoming and friendly. That got rid of a lot of anxiety of taking lessons. We got matched up with Nikki and she went through what we wanted to learn. Everything came easy with her instruction and fun personality. My wife of 35 years +, Linda and I have been students at A/M Redlands for approximately 4 years. I can say unequivocally and without reservation that one could not ever find a finer group of people. The instructors are all extremely professional and friendly and most are dancing champions of one sort or another. For me, dancing not only expanded my horizons as it were but is was great therapy to recover from a complicated operation on my brain back in September of 2006. I was left without hearing or inner ear function on my right side and couldn't walk due to lack of balance ability. Of all the things I tried, dancing at A/M turned out to be the best. I can pretty much walk normally now and manage many different dance steps. It is fun too due to all the various activiites and competitions they offer. We think of everybody there as part of the family now and know that they will always be lifelong friends. Due to an injury to my foot, I am not currently dancing but look forward to getting back to it soon. I agree with the other reviewer about the cost issues which accounts for my 4 out of 5 stars rating. It can be very pricely and like most hobbies or outside activities one can spend as much or as little as they want. In terms of value though, I would have to say it has been worth it for us. The "Dance-O-Rama" events which are held all over the country are the most expensive and we can no longer afford those. Very fun. I went there for my sister's b-day party for a beginner swing dance lesson. Twice as many girls showed up than men. So, the instructor made it work. I think it helped w/getting to spend time w/everyone. We had group A & group B of the women and just pick a man to practice ur dance with.Good times, I got to dance w/my Dad, uncle, my brother in law's dad, the instructor and her assistant! We learned 2 simple dance moves for swing and salsa. My legs r sore! lol Great work out. No complaints :) read more

I had my first lesson here last week. I have no dance experience but I have always wanted to learn salsa and tango. I bought a groupon for 2 private lessons, 1 group lesson, and 1 party lesson. It was soooo much fun! In the short 45 minutes I learned the basics of salsa and tango. Of course I'll need more work but I felt it was a good start. The instructors were very patient and funny. Very expensive...the instructors are kind and patient, but again, I could barely afford to drive there, let alone continue tuition. And yes, there is alot of "dawdiling" around at the beginning and end of the lessons, and I learned fast that you do not sign up for a list of dances you want to learn...stick to one or two at a time, because otherwise you will only learn tidbits of each, and it will cost you way more...they do structure it that way, so be warned. Its really fun...the Friday night dance parties are a hoot. No complaints, other than the price. Its sucks. I loved it, but could not afford it .... read more

I've been coming here for about 2-years and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I'd never danced prior to coming through their doors and they gave me the confidence and technique to hold my own while socially dancing. Also, I met my boyfriend here so this place holds a special place in my heart. However, I can't give it 5 stars. I'm not a fan of the contracts they make you sign when you sign up for lessons--I absolutely dread getting called in the back offices to "talk" about my goals in dancing. They've been going through a lot of changes lately and it seems they are a little desperate to get new students and keep their current ones, like me. The reason for their attrition is the prices. They are extremely high. However, if you got the $$ to spare...go for it. I love my instructors and have seen the growth in myself, so it's worth it to me. I know there is another studio down the street- which I have gone to several times; and actually one of my previous instructors now teaches there so I toyed with the idea of switching. Yet, for now, (and bc I still can afford it) I pick Arthur Murray. read more

When we were told they don't price their dance lessons on the web or over the phone, I should have gotten a clue. My spouse and I went in to learn the Salsa, and what we got was a cheesy car salesman tactical sales pitch! They pulled out a binder during the "counseling" session with a $3500 price tag as a bait and switch in hopes to obtain $850 for 6 lessons. Our dance evaluator and instructor had her boobs hanging out. A sign hung on the wall that said "customers do not fraternize with the instructors." A lonely hearts club. Very weird. We found a salsa bootcamp for only $50 online. Arthur Murrays is a scam and misleading. Their goal is to drain your pocket book. They charged us $35 for the scamsales pitch "lesson"! read more

My Arthur Murray experience has gone from good to great to excellent. After only six weeks of dancing I attended the match competition and did very well. My self confidence as well as my physical being has improved so much in just five months. I am completely satisfied with my teachers who are so talented and encouraging. I love going every time I can. It is a little pricey but you truly get what u pay for and more. You get individual attention as well as group and even the other students are helpful and encoutaging. The parties are fun also. The whole atmosphere at any given time makes it well worth the cost. read more

What a wonderful surprise! This was something I had always wanted to do when I bought one lesson for my husband for Valentine's Day. After our initial private lesson we were hooked and purchased several more. Now, we are into our third month and haven't looked back. We laugh at the fact we now feel like "real" dancers. This is an awesome studio! Drew and Marcia are fun, and such excellent teachers! All of the staff get involved with your training and immediately you feel like you are part of a family. I really like the way they package the lessons with private lessons, style classes and parties to practice at. It has given me 3 ways to help my dancing. I took group classes at another studio in town and it was a disaster. No personal attention, and I felt like they taught way too many dances in one lessons. At this Arthur Murray, you get to learn one dance, it's style and some steps in each group class and I come out of the class feeling like wow I really learned something. Plus, I can ask my teacher to review anything I'm having difficulty with in my private lesson, and at my own pace. I am a single woman, so going out dancing on my own was not an option to me. Not impressed. My initial dance lesson was with a nice instructor with her boobs hanging out. I thought it might be okay until I was transferred over to a room and a salesman. It reminded me of a car dealership. They pull out a book designed to get you into signing high dollar lengthy contracts with pyschological babble designed to make you feel you need them. When I expressed I could only afford X amount or month-by month I received an attitude. I will not be back. read more
