The exam was…read morecovered by my insurance but they added an additional $89 out-of-pocket for fitting which has never happened when I had Aetna PPO, but since Arizona no longer offers PPO through Aetna, I had to change to Blue Cross, Blue Shield Health Choice Pathway and Premier claims the only coverage is for the exam. I was planning to just get the prescription and order a couple of lenses online like in the past, and wasn't going to order the lens through Premier...I felt kind of dismissed and talked into buying it here and paying for a fitting which should be included with the exam, IMO.

When I woke up from surgery, I couldn't see, but he said it would get better over time. It's been well over a year and I still can't see well, and is very scratchy like I have a well used contact lens in my eye. I went to 6 other eye doctors in Prescott, then finally went to see some in Phoenix. If you need eye surgery go to Phoenix, they are a lot smarter than dr. Ham here. All the other Dr's said my left eye will never be good again. I'm so disappointed in Dr. Ham, I thought he was supposed to be good, not!. If you have to have cataract surgery, don't go to Ham, he has ruined my left eye permanently. He is in Prescott, Az .

I was sent a bill for a $275 copay that I had already paid on the day of my surgery back in April. I called billing but no one was available. I left a message but no one returned my call. i called again later and was told the entire billing department was at lunch. The person hung up before I could say anything else. I called again this evening and was told that the office was closed. I asked if my call could be transferred to billing so I could leave another message for billing to call me first thing tomorrow morning. In a rude manner, she told me, "I can't do that so I'm letting you go." She then abruptly hung up. This hasn't been the first time I have encountered a staff member who was curt and unpleasant. It seems that the staff members who call patients or who answer the phones in the office are frequently dismissive and unprofessional.

She does not rush you through each step and answers all your questions. In addition, she was very detailed in determining the best lens prescription for my glasses including testing different lens inside and outside her office. An appointment will take longer than the larger practices because she handles all aspects of the exam. You definitely get a very "personal" experience! How refreshing! My husband is going to make an appointment for his annual medical eye exam with Dr. Miranda.
