My husband came to Dr. Speakman for his back issues, which Dr. Speakman seemed to resolve with twice a week and then once a week treatment. My husband was feeling quite fine at last but had another weekly appointment scheduled. He went... and it was terrible. Right at the time of treatment my husband felt awful, and walked out in considerable pain. He felt funny in the head, and sick. Hoping it was temporary, he waited a few hours but his symptoms worsened. The cracking sound and feel in his neck did not diminish. The next day he spoke to Dr. Speakman who suggested hot - cold therapy on his neck. This did not resolve the issue and two days later (today) Dr. Speakman asked him to come in for another session. This subsequent session did NOT help my husband at all. The pain and suffering he is now in (and we're both hoping it's not permanent) is directly as a result of his last scheduled treatment. Dr. Speakman tried to pass it off as something else but there is nothing else it could be. Dr. Speakman's aftercare was deplorable; he never followed up with my husband after this nightmare. I've spoken with a number of individuals who were first shocked that he worked on my husband's neck when there was no need, and secondly, that Dr. Speakman would perform a second treatment so soon after such severe complications from the previous treatment. I can only feel like we were a cash cow now. We're both VERY worried at this point that he's suffered permanent damage. He may be a good chiro for some, but all it takes is one very serious error like this and suddenly you realize you've just placed your life in the hands of someone who could cause serious harm. That is true of any chiro, I suppose. ___________________________ ETA: adjustments have resulted in ongoing physical and cognitive issues in my husband. We are devastated. We will NEVER recommend any chiropractic treatment to anyone. And I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone with poor after care practices and attempts at passing problems (resulting from treatment) on to some other factor that clearly doesn't exist.

ICBC suggested I should get some physio and I started going to Cristina Trasolini, and with her treatment and excercises, and also Sidney's when Cristina was busy, I was gradually becoming more relaxed and had less pain. In July 2023, in a conversation with ICBC, they suggested I try kinesiology. I started working with Gordan Quan who has taken me to where I now can walk with a normal stride without stumbling and pain. I have found Cristina, Sidney and Gordan to be supportive and encouraging, and the clerks at the front desk most helpful. I have already suggested a friend of mine get treatment at PhysioWorks. Couple days ago, I went in for a massage (due to MVA). I have been seeing this RMT for a while and enjoyed the pressure and instant relief. However, during this session, while I was on my back I felt no pressure. I opened my eyes and he was asleep and nodding his head. To try to wake him up I asked for more pressure. Few minutes later, I again felt no pressure. At this point I was so frustrated and angry that I wanted to get up and leave. But just decided to move my head a bit to wake him up again. After my massage, I asked the front desk to cancel all my future appointments. They did not question reason for cancellation - I had about 3 booked ahead. I emailed the clinic to explain my frustration and the unprofessionalism. The apology I received was not sincere and the management was busy defending the RMT and the clinic. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else and I hope the clinic re-evaluates their client care and service. They offered refund for the treatment where the RMT fell asleep - which they definitely should but the offer to cover for my next treatment I am no longer accepting due to the lack of empathy from the management from their follow up email: "I do understand your point of view. I expect professionalism from all of my therapists as well as people in other industries. I do have to say that this is uncharacteristic and he has numerous loyal clients that have followed him for years. I have never received a complaint against him nor do I believe this will become an issue. He is a human who made a mistake and I tend to allow some leniency for such. I believe all of us have made mistakes before. And it has been an especially tough year for all, which I take into account. If you knew him as a person he has a very kind demeanor with a good moral compass. These are the characteristics I look for in therapists and I believe we have an outstanding team. You came to us with this reputation in mind and I'm sorry you were the one to have a lesser experience but I assure you this is a one time event. I do value his therapeutic skills and it is very hard for me to speak of your treatment plan when I don't know you or your history but again after the 20 sessions of RMT treatments it is very common for clients to move onto the Active Rehab portion and discontinue passive therapy. This would have been best addressed to directly so you both had a better understanding of the overall plan. Please enjoy your following visit, - which i declined after receiving this email.

The receptionist and a different therapist also complained about a customer no-showing in front of me and another client, saying, "it figures", "no surprise there", etc. The receptionist continued to be loud during the treatment. The walls are thin and the floors creak because it's an old building -- fair enough. But there didn't seem to be any effort to work around this, easy options could be: ask your receptionist to be quieter in general, use white noise machines, choose different music that drowns out the noise of the clinic and busy road, put some carpets down. Overall the environment was lacking: The massage table squeaked and seemed old. It was too short for me at 5'6" to have my head on the bed when I laid on my back. When it was time to turn onto my back, the therapist asked me to put the back of my head in the face cradle. I had to tell them my neck was *really* unsupported, to the point it hurt. The clocks in the treatment rooms were large, bright white LED -- mimicking a neon light style. They shine in your eyes during the treatment. Overall not a comfy or relaxing environment. Don't recommend.

I found that they have an online booking system on their website. This is excellent and very convenient! I could choose a time and date that would fit in my schedule, so I did not have to call and ask a receptionist to check on any time slots. I could see all the availabilities online. I was trying to choose a time slot that was after work such as 5:45pm or after 6pm on weeknights. The online system or website shows that they have 10 RMTs. I chose a RMT called Cynthia Gillanders and reserved a time slot online. I did not know her before, but I would just give her a try. When I walked into Inlet Wellness Gallery, the environment was very relaxing, quiet, and comfortable. A receptionist greeted me and asked me to fill out a form, so Inlet Wellness Gallery could know my medical issues and history. Their waiting area or lounge got a beautiful and comfortable couch and chairs with a coffee table. They placed some tea on the coffee table for the customers who were waiting for appointments. This was a very good idea making the customers feel comfortable and relaxed right at the beginning of the process. Cynthia is a very experienced RMT. She double checked with me on my medical issues and history and asked questions to make sure she understood what I needed from her before she started a massage therapy. She was very friendly and kind. She would also chat with me and made sure I felt great (not bored) when she was giving me a massage. Some soft music was on when I did the massage as well. It was very comfortable. After the massage therapy, I paid up front. The receptionist could make the next appointment immediately. An email notification would send out to me right away. They were very efficient! Overall, I had a great experience at Inlet Wellness Gallery. I would definitely come back to do a massage therapy with Cynthia in the near future.

I walked in with problems in my neck, shoulder, back, hips and knees and he's had a solution to all of them. I feel great after my sessions with him and that feeling lasts. I've been to other chiros, physios and RMTs but no one as been able to fix my shoulder problem. He's the only one who's been able to get to the root of the issue and fix it for longer than a day. He is a little pricier than other chiros I've been to but so far it's been worth it.
