I went to see one of their physical therapists, who shall remain anonymous, for a sprained wrist . The guy was nice and friendly, and was able to address the issue correctly, but his treatment was way to aggressive. On my second visit, which was three months after the initial injury, he told me to start climb "harder routes" with wrist widget on because my wrist pain was mostly gone at that time. I did what I was told, and that resulted in a second injury even worse than the first time. The recovery has been awfully slow since then; it's been almost five months now, and I can't even pull more than 10 lbs without any trouble. I did see him one more time after that because I really didn't want to do another initial assessment with a new PT. He gave me 25 mins of forearm massage, and right before the session ended, he told me to made a wrist roller and hanged 5 lbs for training. Turn out that was too much for my wrist to handle and caused instant sharp pain. I informed him via email, and then he asked me to reduce the weight to 2 lbs. I really wish this sort of trial and error could be done during my visit, not at home. read more

I have been going to this clinic for years, but obviously that varies according to what injury I have. I haven't been back since 2013 so today when I went in I noticed a few changes in staff. I had LOVED all previous physiotherapists who attended to me so hoped my new person would be ok. I cannot say enough about Brandon Sum. He was absolutely fantastic. I have had shoulder, back and neck pain for awhile. Ever since I was a teenager, I have had scoliosis and have woken up with stiff back and back pain that only a hot shower and heating pad could temporarily make better in the morning. I was in a car accident four years ago but it was only when I moved to vancouver that I started having more pain in my neck, upper back and shoulder on the left side. I have seen many physios throughout my "young" life. Katie Evans is really one of a kind. She not only treats you, but she assesses everything including your walk, your gait, posture, what I think is midline and straight for me, my strengths and weaknesses in terms of muscle tone, etc. She also explains to you what is going on and how this is happening and how we can work together to make it better, not only through her treatments, but also exercises, changes in lifestyle, thinking, mind and body. I highly recommend her if you are continuously seeing your PT weekly and regularly and it is not improving or you are pretty stable. Sometimes a new pair of hands and a new mind can see a perspective that someone else hasn't. I have been in pain with tingling and numbness going down my left hand because of inflammed scalenes, but it is so much more than this. She is the person to help you. I am reviewing Salus because I miss RMT Sue Woo's magic hands. She has thumbs of steel, the touch of an angel (on steroids) and the bedside manner of a best friend. Which for me, means I will book months in advance and come in on my vacation to see her. Unfortunately because of how busy she is, she doesn't always take new patients. Sorry... I really value a quality rehab clinic that is rooted in honesty including clinical skills, especially effective assessment and treatment. I have also been treated by physios Tracy Barber and Dave Kwan. Highly recommend for all your rehab needs. They are a bit more expensive than your typical double, triple, quadruple booking physio but well worth the dime. I try to book the first appointment of the day so there is still parking (sometimes free) and can feel refreshed for a full and productive day. read more

Dave Kwan is absolutely amazing. I have had shoulder and back pain from a car accident. Dave has treated my tense muscles by pressing extremely hard on the to release the tension. He has helped me stretch out muscles I could not stretch on my own. He has given me my full range of movement back. I have seen other physio's that have done nothing. I will get a list of stretches to do and that's it. Dave gets in there and gives me realistic things to do to help my injuries and my posture. If you have an injury go to Salus. no kidding David Kwan is incredible. I've been to him a few times over the past 5 years or so...he has always been proffesional and highly effective. I'm a runner and have been to other physios and they would invite you back for multiple treatments. David gets to the right area and says only come back if you have to but don't stop moving. He's treated me for foot, shoulder, neck, hips and I return every year or so and he gets me back on track. I've recommended him many times and will continue to. I went to Salus under recommendation from a friend of mine to see Dave Kwan after I was involved in an ICBC-covered cycling accident last year. Dave was absolutely great. I only had two appointments with him and the pain caused by the incident was gone. During each of these appointments he explained exactly what he was doing, why he was doing it, and made me feel at ease. He's a true professional in the field. So why the two stars? Seven months go by and out of the blue I receive an e-mail stating I still owe money to Salus with no explaination. I was very puzzled by this and called their front desk, asking them about this outstanding amount. I was able to present the receipts from my appointments; but they had told me that the outstanding amount was because I failed to fill out a form asking for ICBC claim details which was supposedly given to me on my first appointment to take home. Additionally, because a 3 month period had elapsed from my last appointment, Salus could no longer go to ICBC for remuneration leaving me with very few alternatives. Bluntly put, the portion that was to be covered by ICBC could no longer be claimed by Salus, and so they were coming after me. However, contrary to what I was told over the phone, I received no paperwork from Salus on my first appointment; instead, I had provided the front desk with the ICBC claim number along with the name of my adjuster (which were details that were supposedly missing). Additionally, I had distinctly recalled that on my first appointment, the receptionist stated that Salus would take care of things with ICBC and give me a call if there were any additional questions or concerns. I had received no such call. Given this interaction, I would argue that Salus did not keep me well informed of the ICBC processes relating to payment for services provided, having not received a notification or reminder that there was a three month expiry from my last appointment. Furthermore, I felt that customer service communications left something to be desired. I am disappointed with the way things were handled and cannot see myself coming back here in the event of another ICBC claim, even though Dave is an excellent physiotherapist. If you do decide to go to Salus under an ICBC claim, I would recommend: - pay the full amount for services rendered up front and go to ICBC for reimbursement on your own instead of trusting them to do it. - see Dave. read more

I recently starting going to Salus Physiotherapy clinic, I was recommended to one of their therapists named Rick. I have gone to various types of physical therapy in the past and found them satisfactory at relieving pain until the next treatment. Rick went above and beyond giving various easy excercizes to speed the rehabilitation process and actually going to the source of the problem. Highly recommend the clinic. read more

The orthopedic surgeon recommended this Physio and I saw Len Chong. There were specifics instruction from her on what she wanted the physio to address regarding my foot injury. None of the issues were addressed appropriately, limited assessment, manual manipulation, exercise program (which were not appropriate and shortened my muscles instead of lengthening them), and they had no electronics for stimulation and healing. He said he doesn't believe in it. He was honest that he told me that I could find better exercises on the internet myself. I discovered that my hip was out, and they did not address it either. It was disappointing since it was a specialist referral and the second physio for my foot injury. He said that he had never dealt with such a serious injury? It was an old injury, since it wasn't dealt with by a previous physio but he could not deal with it. I took it up with my specialist but she defended her referral, beware surgeons are not exercise specialists. read more
