man... it took us forever to find it! People in the neighborhood had no idea that there was a hotel nearby. But we finally made it there... tired and angry. It's too modern to my taste, the artsy details looked out of place and even messy. The hotel is relatively new, so everything there is brand new and clean. The hotels' amenities, decor, size, and practically everything makes you think that you are in the states. I was surprised by the size of rooms, US power outlets and other things that were particularly designed for Americans. They have free Wi-Fi and a business center downstairs. It is located relatively near the train and bus stops. So, it only takes about 30 minutes to get to the Red Light District. Mini bar is pretty pricey. A can of beer was 6 Euros (at the time we stayed it was equivalent to $8). If I am in Amsterdam, I won't stay there again!

So far it is serving as an unfortunate conclusion to an already exhausting and frustrating travel ordeal. While check-in wasn't terrible, we were assigned a trainee who was clearly unprepared and unsupported by staff who didn't seem to care where we were placed. It felt like being shuffled off to an "out of sight, out of mind" building, as though our airline vouchers had relegated us to afterthought status. Things have only gone down from there. Despite being required to make a reservation for dinner, no one answered the phone to take reservations. After countless failed attempts, we gave up and stood in yet another line, a recurring theme. We were stranded without our luggage, so we asked for basic necessities like toothpaste and deodorant. To our disbelief, the staff informed us they had none to provide and had the audacity to claim that KLM hadn't sent them any supplies to distribute. To make matters worse, there was no deodorant available to purchase in their shop, and we were forced to buy toothpaste out of pocket. No support, no solutions--just excuse after excuse and blatant disregard for guests who were already stressed and stranded. The attention to detail is appalling. At least one window will crack bc we can't turn the heat down enough - as the thermostat is locked - bc the other window/door is broken. it won't open and is currently taped shut. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we leave with bedbugs given the clear lack of care. This was a disgraceful way to treat guests, and the experience left an already terrible day ending on an even worse note. To KLM: Sending passengers to a hotel that lacks the resources, organization, or compassion to provide basic customer service is unacceptable. To Corendon: Four-star???? really???? What a disappointment - ESPECIALLY under Marriott's name. The service we have received is nowhere near a standard I THOUGHT Marriott prides themselves on having. Ignoring guests, providing no assistance, and failing to stock basics for stranded travelers is completely unacceptable. This experience was a failure. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

It's so hip,…read moreand happening, am very happy got to experience it and my main reason for choosing it was because there was a direct bus from the bus stop outside which dropped me off near my work building in 35mins! So I guess having good intentions does matter. So why the love for this place? Well first let my start off with the lovely staff. I arrived at noon and check-in wasn't till 3pm. I was jet-lagged, tired, smelly and in desperate need of a hot shower and a place to rest. Nimka, at reception totally emphasized, called house-keeping and 45 mins later my room was available. The hotel's owner was also happy to supply me with a resident letter which was super essential for me to register with Amsterdam Town Hall and without which, I wouldn't have been able to work. Also Carlo at the front desk, later on in my stay checked that I was happy and when I mentioned the smell of the soup was fairly aggressive for me, since I'm a wee bit sensitively artificial smells, they got a neutral scent soap for me! Just saying! Moving on to the room - oh la la!! It's modern hipster living design elements at its best. Any Brooklynite's reading this review would totally want to live in this space! Everything (including the kitchen sink!) has its place and yet the room walked super spacious. I had a side view of the street and loved the blackout curtains so could sleep comfortably in the massive bed. The headboard was too cute / it's shape profile was like an Amsterdam canal house! The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with pots/ pans/ baking dish/ cutlery etc. No toaster but I used the pan and excellent coffee plus tea machine. Tons of storage space and a lovely + comfy couch. Loved the thoughtfully curated books about Amsterdam that were in the bookshelf as well as the side table. Gadget-wise too, this hotel rocks! All the light switches are dimmers! If you press down on the switch longer, it becomes brighter! There are two usb chargers built-in next to the bedside table, which is super convenient. Also, the shower in the bathroom was fantastical! They had a rain shower which just melted away all my travel dirt and it was super refreshing to use, with great water pressure. The hand-held shower has 3 settings which it was super easy to toggle between. The tiles were delft blue and so u totally got the Dutch feeling. BTW, did I mention how spacious it was? Other amenities that impressed me was the sauna and the gym. There is a restaurant also attached with Movenpick Ice-cream!! This is my fave brand of ice-cream in the world! Ben & Jerrys!?! Pshaw! Movenpick's where it is at! Silky, smooth, buttery - make sure u try this ice-cream at the restaurant if u stay here. Btw, this place is also so well located, it's a short 20min tram ride to Amsterdam Central aka the touristy got spot but it's lovely to come back to this hotel and get away from the crowds and wind down and chillax. Other things I like about the place: - the Braille language in the elevator - the bowl of oranges near the elevator lobby - the wonderful cinnamon candy you get as a gift - the laundry facilities include soap and they also have hanging racks Overall absolutely recommend if you are looking for a cool and hip hotel in a great location for a short trip or even a long stay! We were able to find a last minute room here, and the rest was history. This hotel is modern, spacious, and delightfully new. We loved our room - from the techie-friendly way to open the door (don't worry - really easy!) to the modern bathroom with huge waterfall shower. The bed was very comfortable with two USB ports on each side for easy charging. There was even a stocked Nespresso machine in the mini-kitchen! The surrounding area was nice, with plenty of food in walking distance and the tram right out front. We were able to hop on the tram to get into the main city or head to the airport! (We did both.) I wish we had taken more photos, because this place is so cool that you have to see it to believe it. We will absolutely return to Amsterdam, if only to stay here. Long story short? Choose this one! Like a cherry on top, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended stay to anyone visiting Holland!

This hotel is 1 stop down from Amsterdam Centraal. It is in a quiet, chill, and restful spot. If you're someone who's been doing heavy traveling and want a tranquil stay with modern and nice amenities, I highly recommend this place. It was the best hotel I've stayed so far in Europe and I intend to stay in Mercure hotels going forward. Location of this hotel is literally across the street from the Sloterdijk station. Very safe walk even if at night. There's a SPAR along your way for any last min essentials. Highly recommend the day passes to travel out to fun areas. The staff were very kind and friendly. Front desk is smooth, mint water, gave out cookies and rubber duckies for Christmas, fruits to snack on. Front area has 2 computers to use, nice electric fireplace. Building is tall and modern. Only thing is, it seems they are still under construction for the other half of all floors with rooms. I am not sure why, so it can be a little strange. Rooms: Large and spacious and modern. Some people will complain it's dark. I agree- the rooms are painted black and purple tones and feels dark. However, the closets have lights, the shower is luxurious (cloud shower), beds are super comfortable and compared to most European cramped hotel rooms, this feels luxurious and almost like American. Cleaning: If you actually leave the little note out there telling them your room really doesn't need to be cleaned, you can get 5$ a day off the Skylounge in coupons. I thought that was super neat. On my last day I had accumulated 10 $ and got to try their excellent Taglatelle pasta. Food: there is breakfast for about 22$ a person- a little pricy but compared to other continental breakfasts I've seen, they have a larger spread. They have fresh juices, herring, all kinds of cold cuts, fancy seating, great coffee machine and just a great spread. I highly recommend it if you are a big breakfast eater and are about to go out for the day and need a fuller meal.

The hotel is in a convenient location for me when I travel for business to Amsterdam. As most of the business I do is at the airport I have often stayed there but after several visits per month for many years I was sick and tired of the airport hotels so this is easy access being next to Sloterdijk and also makes it easy to go into town for dinner. After the chaos of the first visit the service has been really good. Always friendly and fast at check-in and they keep track of loyalty benefits and special requests. The elevators at this place are a bit weird (no buttons in the elevator so need to select the floor outside) but now seems to work. They have a very small gym but I have never seen anyone else use it. The rooms are a bit dark but that is more a decoration choice and it works ok, just a bit weird with portraits on the wall staring at the bed. Everything is new and works well. They have the essentials so safe, mini-bar, TV, iron and ironing board. Free wifi is reliable and reasonably fast. The restaurant at the top floor is decent and prices are acceptable. Good selection of beer (some local craft ones) as well as ok wine selection. Food is not amazing but good enough for a hotel. The atmosphere is nice and there are plenty of seats. Breakfast is also served there and it is a nice and fresh breakfast.

I got my room on the 7th floor with a nice view over the area, a little bit off from the old, traditional Amsterdam city center. Everything is nice and modern - also in the room, a lot of wooden Mahagoni elements. A large and comfy bed! Well, only the carpet seems like directly taken from Space Invaders on LSD or something and is a bit too colorful. Anyhow, I really dig the room, it is space and nicely decorated with 2 modern chairs, a stylish lamp like from the 70s in the corner by the window and a lot of different direct and indirect lighting. On the right hand site if the space desk, there is a Nespresso machine with some capsules for free, tea and some free water - I like! The bathroom has a nice shower and is also large enough. Well, nothing much left to be desired, really! There's also a small gym with some treadmills and stuff. Breakfast - like usually - I did not have, so I can't tell. The best thing is yet to come, for 3 nites I pay € 210,- so 70 per night. For this whole package, I have to give 5 starts and the hotel staff is also very cool!

The KLM customer service agent boast that it was "full room and board". Everything was covered for us! Things got off to a bad start. They were supposed to be running regular shuttles since it was about noon. The other hotel shuttles came and went a couple of times and we continued to wait. I finally called the hotel to remind them that they weren't picking up per their posted schedule. When it finally arrived, the shuttle itself was old and the front windshield had a large crack running through it. It took 20 minutes to get to the hotel. We could see many hotels at the airport, so why drive us so far away? While checking in, there was another guest that was complaining that his room keycard didn't work. The same thing happened to us. It took THREE separate trips back to the front desk before we could get a working keycard. Although we were told by KLM that the hotel would cover everything for us, this was not the case. Lunch specifically excluded ANY type of beverage. They couldn't even give us tap water. We had to purchase bottled water. Lunch consisted of either a bagel sandwich or a toasted cheese sandwich and a pastry. It was sold from the coffee stand in the lobby and that's where you dined. The man working there was very nice, though. Dinner was to be served at the restaurant on the 17th floor. Tired and hungry, we showed up a 6:00 pm (18:00) to what looked like a decent restaurant. When they realized that we were KLM customers, they showed us to another room with a sad little KLM buffet and closed the doors so the other restaurant customers couldn't see us. There were 3 unmarked mystery stews, rice, and mac and cheese. I ate what tasted like the canned beef stew of my childhood. At least they had a self serve container of tap water. There were also a few unrefrigerated mystery salads in bowls. Not to be outdone by the previous meals, our breakfast was given to us in oversized brown paper bags since we were headed back to the airport before the breakfast area was open. They literally tossed an unwrapped roll into the bag, along with a candy bar, apple and what looked like a small sandwich from a vending machine. At least they added a bottle of water and OJ (which we didn't have time to drink since we were headed through security and had to dump our liquids) The shuttle back to the airport was on time.
