The Good:
An absolute gem we were thrilled to stumble across in Parma. We wandered in for dinner at 6:30 and were told by the gentleman behind the bar that they don't serve dinner til 8pm, but had meat, cheese & drinks available until then. We were so glad we stayed, because he was also the owner, a younger Parma local, who hand-selects their excellent cured meat & cheese and curates their ever-changing menu. It was a real treat to talk with him about his passion for local, responsibly-sourced food. What a breath of fresh air after endless similar traditional white-tablecloth restaurants.
We enjoyed the casual atmosphere of the front area, joined by groups of younger diners and modern, upbeat music, and there is also a quieter, larger, more formal dining room in the back.
Affordable, approachable prices with hearty portions.
The Bad:
Nothing!
We couldn't eat the whole menu and wanted to try everything! Not for a light meal, so go hungry or just enjoy wine with cured meat & crispy polenta!
The Food:
Fascinating, ever-changing and unique menu of hand-selected cured meat, cheese, and hearty housemade pastas with horse and liver for example.
The Service:
We were served both drinks and food by the knowledgeable and hardworking owner Dario, who selected wine pairings and helpfully translated the entire menu for us, highlighting favorites and speciality items.
Overall:
A gem of a restaurant in Parma, especially for younger, adventurous and casual diners looking for a place to enjoy carefully selected food done differently by passionate locals for affordable prices. read more
