Both of my children attended a different outdoor pre-school for the Fall 2025 semester where their experience was overwhelmingly positive. At their prior school, the lead teacher was a former elementary school teacher with over 20 years of classroom experience. At PNWK, the teachers were considerably less experienced. All teachers, including the lead, were fairly recent graduates who, while passionate about nature and children, did not have the depth of expertise nor formal early childhood education training that we were expecting. The lack of formal training and experience became more evident to us when we learned about behavioral challenges our kids were having at school. While the teachers were kind, they did not seem equipped to deal with problematic behaviors. Similarly, the program as a whole did not seem designed to meet kids where the are, but rather to push "problem children" out through regular calls for early pick ups. Within several weeks of starting the program, we began receiving calls for early pick ups on a regular basis. Keep in mind a "full day" is only 3 hours including the time they are eating their packed lunch, and that they only attended 2 days a week. Obviously this created a lot of stress for our family, and an inability to treat the program as reliable childcare. Unfortunately, that stress also seemed to permeate to our kids who began to say they did not like school, which was heartbreaking to hear. The reports we got seemed to indicate that their behavior at school only worsened over the course of the semester. When it became more clear that the program was not a good fit for our family, we began asking about withdrawing or phasing out of the program. Unfortunately, the payments are structured such that you cannot withdraw without forfeiting significant amounts of advance tuition. However, we eventually cut our losses and moved on. Truthfully, there was a tremendous mental weight lifted off our family after separating from the program, as it had created a lot of stress for both us and our children. It's disappointing because this seems to the only outdoor preschool program in the area, and my children previously had such positive experiences at their prior school.

Linda was patient, kind, and informative and we've already been back twice (highly recommend the easter egg hunt/other special events too!) one small note: if you're visiting in winter/summer make sure you wear the appropriate shoes/drive appropriately it can get a little muddy but that's totally the charm of this place. the farm itself is very clean and the animals feel so at home and comfortable. it's certainly not a place for appearances. linda loves the animals and the animals are well cared for! we'll be back!! my daughter asks non stop to see the farm thank you linda!

5th grade camp was a hit! From the moment of bus drop offs to bus pick ups, Cedar Springs had every…read moreminute accounted for and planned out. Their system of organization and scheduling of daily events was impressive. Staff was incredibly gracious, especially while containing a hundred 10 year old boys and girls. Daily routine began with reveille at 0700 hours and ended at 10p with lights out. Survival classes were informative and included sessions like fire building, archery, stream studies, rock climbing, and forestry to name a few. Breakfast, lunch, and dinners were definitely elevated from a 'camp' menu with dishes like pork tenderloin, brisket, hot breakfasts, 24/7 coffee and tea for chaperones, side salads and dessert with every meal. I. Was. Im. PRESSED. They flip schools midweek, so if you're there from Wed-Fri, the previous school will be wrapping up lunch as you arrive and they depart. Schools never crossed paths and the transition was seamless. The cabins were 4 groups of 3 bunks with extra cots if needed. Working heaters and windows on every wall to air out during the day (highly recommended). It def got humid at night in the fall. Bathroom rotations were 10 mins per cabin which sounded like an impossible amount of time but worked out well. There were 11 showers in the main restroom with one being ADA accessible. 3 separate showers in the shared chaperone and employee restroom (which only had one working toilet). I preferred the main restroom but used it after lights out for my showers. No problems running out of stalls or showers. The bunks were rough for chaperone bones... wish I had brought extra padding to ease the sleepless nights after long days of trail walking, back to back events from 7a-9p, and dealing with a ton of 5th graders for 3 days straight! The bottomless coffee and tea helped keep us all upright! Overall, impressive meals, even more impressive staff, and impeccable scheduling!

Our pottery class was on March 29th, we came back to paint on April 12th, and then picked everything up on April 17th. It honestly felt like such a fun extended experience getting to come back and see everything through. The painting portion was super enjoyable too. They offer a variety of glazes, some classic colors included at no extra cost, plus a few specialty options for a small fee. My fiancé chose the "Safari" glaze (just $1 extra), which had these cool glass pieces that melt in the kiln and create such a unique pattern. Definitely worth trying if you want something a little different! Pickup was easy overall. My only small suggestion would be to clarify the pickup hours on the card that's handed out after painting. Google hours seem to reflect member hours, while the hours posted on the door are different. When I arrived, they technically weren't open yet (my mistake, I'm sorry!), but the person at the front desk was super kind and still helped me find my pieces, which I greatly appreciated. My son's first attempt here was in a group class and it was a complete fail for him. He is 7 and…read moreautistic and was completely overwhelmed with the wide age range of kids in the class, number of kids in the class and loud personalities of some of the older kids in the class. He couldn't be coaxed out of sitting in the hallway and watched the class from under some chairs until he decided that it was just too much for him at the time. Coach Kyle found out that he had such a negative experience and reached out to me and offered for him to come in again so that he could show him a more positive experience. To say he had a blast would be an understatement. Having a one on one class was a total night and day experience. He was climbing, flipping and vaulting on the equipment from the minute we walked into the gym. Coach Kyle was patient and encouraging and showed him how to properly and safely use the equipment. My son left having had a fabulous time and got a great workout with a huge boost to his confidence. He is fearless and an adrenaline seeker so Parkour is something that he really enjoys and shows an aptitude for. We will continue with one on one classes for the time being and hopefully at some point he can move into a group class but if we need to stay in one on ones, that's totally fine by us as well. It can be tough trying new activities for autistic/neurodivergent kids and I'm really glad that we gave MoveFree Academy a second chance. I would recommend if your child is on the timid side or easily overwhelmed, to start off with a one on one or semi private class to get comfortable before jumping into one of the larger group classes.
