She really was a rude and nasty misandrist. The unspoken problem appeared to be our differences in politics even though we never discussed these. In fact I bent over backwards to avoid any contoversial subject. I was learning how to hand sew Revolutionary War reenacting garments and it is my opinion she resented this hobby. In addition, she would often make disparaging remarks to me in front of the class. I wrote a complaint letter to program director and never even received the courtesy of a response. Putting my interactions aside, the facility itself is completely run down. The bathrooms are disgusting, the hallways and offices have musty odors, there is no adequte air conditioning during the summer, the exterior grounds are a mess, and the building would likely fail a fire safety inspection. I have subsequently found several superior alternatives.

High-Quality Academics and Faculty -…read more The coursework was rigorous and relevant, especially in the science and math departments. The curriculum was structured perfectly to prepare me for the next step. What truly sets this college apart is the dedicated and accessible faculty. They genuinely care about student learning and success. They went above and beyond to provide individual attention that you just don't get at a large university. Lots of fun memories on & off campus! I graduated with an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree.

If I could, I would give this place 0 stars…read more When you actually start going there, the parking is HORRIFIC! My sister goes to Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) and their parking is 100000X better than Union! There are lots so far away that students have to walk so far just to get to the campus and even then, the faculty gets the closest parking - which takes up most of the first 3 lots because God forbid they have to walk more than 5 feet away from the school. And in the snow/rain, it's horrible the way they expect students to want to go to this school with terrible parking lots, walk 20 feet just to get to the campus, and go to class. At that rate, you should take online courses or better yet, go to RVCC! RV is 1000X better and if it wasn't for my program being American Language and Deaf Studies, I would have gone there! Their parking lots alone are reason enough for people to want to go there! If that doesn't get you ready to go, go to Raritan because you do NOT have to PAY for a parking ticket! They have separate dividers for the faculty and staff through a parking ticket, but for students, it's free!! The silent study rooms. I had time between my classes to go there and it was good, except for when people are TALKING IN A SILENT STUDY ROOM! It is silent! I don't know if these students can't read the sign on the door because almost everyone was talking during a certain time - around 12-4. It is a silent study room! There is no group work! No whispering! No talking! And no videos! It is not rocket science or brain surgery! Do NOT do it!! And, on top of that, they would have construction going on again near the silent study room for who knows what, so because of that noise, many people didn't bother to obey the rules of the room, so more people started to talk. That room was also put right next to a different room where students could go for leisure time or group study, so every once in a while, I would hear loud laughter and even some banging on the wall as the students on the other side were arguing over some answers for their homework. What kind of "genius" puts a silent study room right next to a room where students can have group study?! I was constantly telling people to "please go outside" or "please, no group study" because it was a SILENT STUDY ROOM! They need to have someone there ensuring that students who go in do NOT TALK! I would be studying for tests/quizzes/homework/exams, and so many students would be talking and having a group study together! I HATED that college! If Raritan Valley had my program as a Major, I would have been thrilled to have gone to that college, but Union had it, so I was forced to choose that one. Union College was absolutely awful! Terrible parking, horrible design, unbelievable slow learning with basic topics I learned in middle/high school, and very lazy security who are too busy on their phones or sitting at the desk, watching YouTube videos or playing Solitaire. If they have your program at Raritan Valley Community College, go there! It is so much better, my sister is always telling me good things about the staff that help her out, and the parking alone is definitely worth it!

Admin service is friendly and down to earth. There's a nice waiting area (a living room feel) where kids or adults can watch from a very large screen tv. Most of the time the TV is off and the parents are checking their phones or reading. There's also a library where you can sit and wait - a quiet area unlike the front waiting area. My daughter comes here for private piano lessons and for chorus and the instructors are keen to the children. I see tons of kids coming in to learn to play guitar and violin. There's a parking lot and it's usually packed but I somehow always get a spot so I guess there's ample parking (with help from parents just dropping off their kids and not really staying so that opens up parking spots).

I thought I found a great deal on an Abrakadoodle party on Suburban Momma. I want to be clear,…read morethat this is the Abrakadoodle franchise advertised for Bergen, Essex and Hudson Counties in NJ. On the coupon, they implied that the party would take place at a local business (Matisse Chocolatier which is a great place). It wasn't until after I made the purchase and was calling to schedule the party that it turned out that there was an additional rental charge for the location. Fine. It also turns out that this is just an art project; I was to supply all food, cake, tablecloths, plates, napkins, etc. I would also be doing all the serving and cleaning up. Hmmm. I see. That was not made clear in the ad, but OK. When I spoke with the Director, we talked about the kind of art project -- she sent me photos and talked about it being a mixed collage, painting project. My daughter is into origami, and she said that perhaps they could incorporate this into the party (my daughter is a very bright 8 year old with equally bright friends). I assumed that the party would actually include some type of lesson and would be 'educational,' and when parents saw the word "Abrakadoodle" was on the invitation many older siblings of the invited kids asked if they could come. I went to the location early to drop off my party items, and the store owner was not even aware that I was about to have a party there. Fortunately the owner at Matisse Chocolatier was extremely nice and helpful (next time I will have a party directly with them!!) When we arrived, it was true that the teacher was well-organized, and had materials all set-up. She also had a very calm voice and initially had the children all sitting down quietly doing art. However, the issue I had was that there was absolutely no interesting lesson, no theme -- the project was nothing more than a paint/glue/glitter piece of paper which lasted less than 45 minutes (the Director said that it would be 1.5 hrs). After the children were done, naturally they all got up and were running around in this small space, and the teacher just cleaned and packed up as if to say that was the end of it. The last half of the party was agonizing as the children ate in about 15 minutes. If only I had been warned, I would have had something else prepared!!!! At the end when the children were leaving most of them barely remembered to pick up their art pieces -- that tells you how uninteresting and uninspiring it was. I have thrown at least 15 good-to-spectacular kids parties over the last 10 years with my 2 children, and I have to say that this was absolutely the most disappointing. If I had paid full price, I would have been EXTREMELY angry. With the deal, I guess I got what I paid for (even though I don't even think that was worth it.)
