Artist supply stores were part of my childhood since my father was an artist and University Art Professor at UTC for over 30 years. He used to go to Art Creations sometimes so I thought I'd stop in while doing my weekly stroll through the neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised that the store wasn't freezing on this cold winter day. The store is on the smaller side but not tiny. I briefly mentioned to the manager working why I stopped in and he replied that he had my Dad as a professor. A reoccurring response that brings me extra joy in my hometown. Art Creations is a well supplied store of artist supplies for drawing, painting, etching, and other visual artist mediums. Each section of the walls is lined with colorful, reliable, and unique options. Each store section is clearly labeled. Besides different types of paints, inks, and brushes, they have different types and sizes of canvas as well as handmade papers. They also have really cool pens, journals, and blank card sets. The staff are friendly and willing to answer any questions. I was curious what artist created the blank card sets I was looking at. This store supports any creative mind's interests. read more

What a fantastic shop! Very wide selection of everything from children's crafts to POSCA paint pens, art, Painting, and crafting supplies, and then every single type of pen, pencil marker and doodle tool, that you can possibly imagine! Super exciting to just walk in the door and be greeted by such an array of colors and variety! I purchased seven pens for my journaling supplies, and could not be more delighted. I have never seen these .25 gel pens (non-felt tips) ever in my life, and I am in love! read more

Art creations is okay. They have a bigger more niche selection of art supplies than Micheal's or hobby lobby, however you have to deal with the price markups. Wide varieties of paints and spray paints and framing needs. If you're in dire need of a certain art supplies then I suppose this is a good bet, but it's a lot cheaper online. Easy location to get to. Staff is friendly and helpful. I went in for Acrylic Gouache (they don't have Acryla brand) and the man working was very helpful. He explained the differences between the ones they had and the one I'm looking for. He also told me their other store does carry the brand I want! The first time I went in I was looking for a multi media pad and was happy to discover they were 25% off! I think it would be helpful to sign up for their newsletter so you know what's on sale and when. I just moved to the area and I'll miss my art store in Jax {Reddi Arts} but this is a great one! Customer of 20 years who'll never go back. I received a wonderful Christmas gift one-of-a-kind painting from an up and coming NY artist from a friend in Brooklyn last year and since my go-to place for framing (Bill Shores Framing) had gone out of business and I wasn't too trusting of places such as Michael's or Hobby Lobby (plus a desire to support local businesses), I brought the print here. The associate who took my information didn't seem to be playing with a full deck; I knew what I wanted when I arrived and it's not rocket surgery, and yet it took twice as long for them to take down my information and information about my framing preferences than any other place. They told me it would be a week or two and I paid for the service. After two weeks without hearing anything from them, I called to inquire about the job. When I got a call back, it was from the owner himself to say that there was a problem and he would call me back. He didn't say what the problem was. When he called me back, he said that the print had been mounted backwards. The person who was assigned to my particular framing job mounted the print BACKWARDS. I was told that the print had been ruined as a result. I asked to see it for myself and was told that the print had already been thrown out. I was offered a full refund on the service which I gladly accepted and the owner offered to purchase a replacement. The owner couldn't grasp the fact that the work wasn't something you could order online or pick up from a store, and that it was, in-fact, an original work. It's obvious that they're accustomed to framing crappy Ben Hampton reprints in an assembly line manner for suburbanites and if anything original comes in, they just get lazy. I'm not upset that they were unsure about the project, but I'm absolutely furious that no one there made NO attempt to contact me to clear up any possible confusion before the work was done. Not a great experience framing at the North Shore location. I gave 3 stars because the employee who helped when I picked up was very nice.

I work for a local design studio in Chattanooga, and we were in need of five custom framed pieces. We also needed them within an (almost) impossible amount of time. I say, "almost," because I was told by other craft retailers in the area that the turnaround time was a minimum of two weeks for the job I was asking them to do. Admittedly, it was a big job. Not only did we need the custom frames built, but we also needed the artwork pieces being framed to be arranged in a particular order before being mounted. We needed all of this to float inside the frames, and we needed this x5... within less than 48 hours. Neither Michaels nor Hobby Lobby could take on this task and complete it within our rushed time frame. It's also important to note the price I was quoted by Michaels, which was $1,811 (before tax). I called Art Creations on Frazier Avenue, and they advised me that their location on Commons Boulevard (in the Hamilton Place area) did all of the framing, assuring me that they could do this rush job for us. I was already in the area, so I drove over to their Hamilton Place location to seek their assistance. From the moment I walked in, the people working in this store also assured me that the job could be done within our rushed time frame. I knew we were asking a lot, but they didn't mind at all. They were very reassuring and even thanked us for bringing the business to them. By this point, I was already feeling guilty for not having gone to them first. I suppose there's something about having a coupon that makes us believe we will actually get a better deal elsewhere. Not so! Even considering that this was a rush job, they happily did the work and charged us a little over $900 (including tax) for the same work I had asked of Michaels. All things considered, they saved us about $1000 and completely took away the anxiety I was feeling over completing this task on time. I had asked if one of the pieces could be ready by the following day with the remaining four ready the day after. They agreed to have one ready by the following day, and when I went to pick it up, I was blown away by their efforts. Not only were the framed pieces gorgeous, ALL 5 SETS WERE READY!!! They helped me load these into my car, and I got to go deliver the great news to the studio. This is one of the greatest examples of a under-promise (although it wasn't really an under-promise considering what they were already doing for us) and over-deliver I have personally experienced. I will go to Art Creations for all of my supply and framing needs going forward. These people are not only knowledgeable, they're also some of the kindest and most helpful folks I have ever met. Excellent selection of painting supplies! Lots of canvases, brushes, mediums, etc. Prices are good; you're paying for quality materials, not cheap Chinese-made brands. If they don't have something, they can usually order it for you. Love this store. read more

Awesome Art Store. I am just getting back into drawing and painting after a twenty year hiatus and the good folks here are most helpful in getting me off and going. They have a huge inventory of all sorts of art materials and are very knowledgeable about what ever medium you are working in. I have had the honor of attending two great art lessons from national painters in watercolors...Michael Pearson and Tom Lynch. They also have special days when vendors come and offer special discounts...they are local and I can just run out and pick up that "thing" I suddenly need...Best in the area for quality stuff for art folk...Bud Alley read more

I bought a watercolor and was hoping to get it matted. Unfortunately, I had to go back to the store three times for them to get it right. The first time I received it back, it was wider (about 1/8"--obviously noticeable, otherwise I wouldn't have taken it back) on one side than the other. They returned it back to me, and then it didn't fit in the frame! I realized they had cut just the right margin down to match the other margin side, so by cutting the margin down, the entire mat slipped through the frame. After bringing it back, I got a phone call from one of the clerks and without even asking me why I brought it back again, she said, "You're going to have to pay to get this redone. It's not our fault. You didn't provide us with the right measurements the first time." This was an incredibly rude way to start the conversation. I explained to her that Art Creations had measured it the first time, and the first mat (with the wider margin) had still fit in the frame. I explained my theory that their matter had cut it short to make it match. She said, "Well I'll have to check with our matter" only after I told her that I had photos to prove it. After I received it back this time, it was the right size, but there was a smudge on the mat that I couldn't get out. I wasn't about to take it back again. Will not be back--I'll try my luck with Hobby Lobby. read more
