Could not find this place, despite great effort - either it's closed or has moved and the address is incorrect.

I feel bad for poor Matthew G when I read his review. I guess a some things changed in 6 years…read more We came here while on a break for a Gate 1 Tour. We had just bought some cork products and souvenirs and had to grab a quick bite before meeting our group. We were waited on pretty quickly. It was probably around 1:30 or 2 when we arrived. The woman at the counter was efficient and took our order. We ordered a pie (possibly chicken or seafood), fritter, nata, and tea, and claimed our order when it was ready. We sat for a bit and munched; it was a nice break. I enjoy stopping at small places like these for quick bites, as well as sit down places with 2 or 3 courses.

Wasn't too crowded at 11:00, but we were not even acknowledged... completely ignored (not even an "ola!" or "bom dia!" as we usually get everywhere else here.) We could not even tell if the tables/restaurant were open for actual dishes... we wanted lunch, but there was no sign or indication if they were serving cooked dishes yet (and nobody at the tables), so we went to the cafe counter where people were having pastries and coffee, and we started perusing the savory baked goods (filled with meats, fish, shrimp, etc. -- we hadn't eaten in 5 hours and needed some protein.) We discussed what we were going to get (a bacalhau pastry, one filled with shrimp, and one filled with meat)... still ignored. So I raised my hand to try to get their attention with a "Disculpe..." or "Eu gosto" or "Posso temer...?", then the man who had been tomando cafe (coffee/breakfast) at the counter suddenly cut us off and made an order... consisting of almost EVERYTHING we had just discussed. And he didn't just order one or two... they pulled out the trays and completely emptied them into a box for him. No more shrimp pastries (rissols de camarao)... he took all 10 that were left. No more bolinhos de bacalhau, either... he took all those, too. So, we just left. We couldn't even get a SINGLE greeting, or a SINGLE rossoi or bolinho that we wanted. Avoid this place... apparently they don't want tourist business AND they only make enough food to apparently feed a SINGLE customer. (We returned out of curiosity later in the day, around 15:00... and, sure enough, there were still no rissois de camarao. One customer literally bought their entire stock for the whole day.) Don't even bother giving this place a try. Too difficult and unfriendly.

Despite having a Michelin bib gourmand, I found the food at this restaurant to be very average…read more We went for lunch on a weekday and right at opening there was just 1 other table in there. After about an hour, it started to get a bit busier with 3 other tables. The service was pretty good, and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. We were given their regular menu and also the menu of the day. Unfortunately they did not have a lunch menu. The menu of the day was in Portuguese only, so the waiter patiently translated and described each of the dishes. We ended up ordering both mains from the menu of the day and the appetizer from their regular menu. The baked cheese seemed like it could be something I could make at home. It was various cheeses melted together with oregano that came with crispy crostini bread. The lamb chops were simply grilled with garlic and came with a side of homemade chips, vegetables and potatoes. We got 7 pieces total: 3 individual rack pieces and 4 chops. Honestly the taste was very mid with not much char. The pork and clam dish was probably the best dish of the 3. It came with a decent portion of black pork chunks that were mostly tender and not chewy, and a lot of clams. It was topped with fried potatoes, kind of like the ones you'd get at brunch. There was a lot of flavourful sauce at the bottom so it would have been nice to have more potatoes. I felt like for a Michelin bib gourmand restaurant, it would have been better, but overall I was not that impressed. For 2 people, 1 bottle of water, 1 appetizer, and 2 mains came to 47€. Everything was just okay. I don't think I would come again or recommend to others. I had much better Portuguese food on my trip here.
