    Chickpea and spinach soup
    Gino B.

We came here to have an Italian meal for a change, having had Portuguese food for over a week. The restaurant is located right below the main historical aqueduct which makes for a beautiful view. The restaurant itself has some nice decor and the ambiance is charming. Service was good and helpful. We started with a chickpea and spinach soup which was very different and yet delicious. We followed with a small margherita pizza from their gas fired oven which was well cooked and prepared and I would say it was above average, but not one of the best. For the main I had the spaghetti bolognese and it was superlative. Pasta was al dente and the minced meat was very good with just the right amount of tomato base and spices. Along with this we had a good bottle of red wine sourced locally and everything was satisfying.

Pizzeria L'Italiano was only a short walk from our flat and totally fit the bill. The two folks that greeted us as we walked in were perfect for the place. The woman wearing an apron that the lovely K coveted immediately, and the young man with the perfectly shaped and waxed moustachioed welcomed us warmly. We sat at a table of our choice and noticed that there were already four tables with reserved signs on them, so the place is popular for sure. We were offered pizza dough buns and garlic butter as opposed to the typical drop and charge that is typical in so many places in Portugal. We had decided prior to going that we were going to say yes. The bread was so warm, and soft with a crunchy exterior that once the butter was added it melted in your mouth. We ordered our customary bottle of white, a fresh salad and some pasta. The lovely K had the Cannelloni, and I the Tri pasta with spaghetti, tortellini and penne. Both sauces were the same with a different pasta noodle. Both were good, plentiful, but not awe inspiring. We are in Portugal after all, but the food more than passed muster. We loved the interior of the building as so often seems to be the case in this UNESCO world heritage site. The curved and vaulted ceilings are gorgeous , we wish we could have them in our home in Canada. If you are looking for some Italian comfort food complete with great service and fair pricing you won't find much better in Evora's old town. Salut!

I absolutely love this place!…read more We were walking around, actually looking for a different place when locals recommended this place to us. It doesn't look special from the outside but it's super small and cozy inside. There's an 'outdoor' part with three tables in something like a winter garden and there are about 10 tables inside. The ambiance is great and it's easy I get in touch with your neighbors ( only if you want to of course). The staff is super friendly and they even have menus in all different languages. We ordered the shrimp tagliatelle and it was amazing! For an appetizer we tried Portuguese cheese and bread, also really good. But my absolute favorite and the reason we had to come back is the mousse au chocolate! Unfortunately I couldn't take a picture before I started to eat but I promise is delicious!!! This is a great insider tip for every trip to lisboa :)

Started with the recommended fish soup, which was definitely very tasty; then I got a nicely grilled bream, and my wife the lamb which was really tender. my daughter got the chicken. As dessert try the chocolate mouse. Besides the great and fresh food, the waiter (probably owner) was really friendly and assertive. we would definitely come back again!
