I've been to a few paint and sip classes with other companies. I decided to give this one a try for my sister's birthday. I didn't have any issues registering. This was a little different than the other ones. In those classes it's a guided step by step process to create your painting and everyone is painting the same thing. In this class you have the choice of three paintings which did confuse me a bit because I wasn't sure how we were going to be guided through the process if people were creating different ones. You come and choose a small picture of the one you want to paint then find a seat. It starts with a intro of the instructor and the studio. Then he gives some painting tips and techniques then you are on your own. This wasn't what I was used to. You really have to channel your creativity which wasn't easy for me. The instructor does come around to assist if you are stuck and need help. It wasn't easy at all. I left with a headache but I did feel very accomplished. If you are looking for a most relaxed, laid back, show me what to do kind of class then this one isn't for you. If you want to unleash your creative powers you'll have more flexibility in this class. I wish I could rate Art By The Glazz (the organization) and the instructor separately. I'd give the instructor, Kqwon, 5 stars and ABTG 1. Kqwon was very energetic and enthusiastic. He showed us a few techniques at the beginning of the class and then sent us on our way. He walked around the room and offered feedback and advice throughout the class. (Note that if you are looking for step-by-step instruction, this is NOT the class for you.) If we return, it will be because Kqwon created a fun and inspiring atmosphere. ABTG's customer service however, is disappointing. The response-time is slow and the responses are often not personalized. My originally-scheduled class was cancelled (for understandable reasons) and I was never notified, despite the fact that ABTG had two emails on file for me. It is hard to find classes on Saturdays/Sundays that are not sold out (they seem to be sold out almost immediately after they're posted). If you're not looking at the website when they post them, you will probably be left with the option of attending on a weekday night or a Saturday from 10pm to 1am. My only other gripe is that the free "glass" of wine that they advertise is actually a shot glass of wine, literally, about 1 oz. Again, if I return, it will be because of Kqwon. read more

I would have given ABTG 5 stars if it was easier to schedule a class. Other than that I had a wonderful experience. The pictures given to us to paint were pretty detailed and scenic, we weren't given flowers or geometrical figures to paint. I was very surprised with what I accomplished, considering I had a glass of wine haha. We were given a lot of time to paint and the instructor was ver animated and helpful. HAD SUCH AN AMAZING TIME!!! I had bought vouchers from Livingsocial for myself and two girlfriends and recently used it. We brought our own bottle of wine ($15 corking fee) and had brunch at a local restaurant. The class was fun, new, educational, and inspiring. The class was located in a small gallary in the Clinton Hill section of brooklyn. The instructions were fun and very helpful. they had an amazing selection of music, which was motivating! With great company, great music and wine, how can anyone not be creative. Its difficult to paint, especially if you have never painted before other then art class in HS. Which for me was a long time ago. The instructors help as much as they can and provide you with great tips. It was fun taking original art work by ME home! I will definitely be doing this again!! BUT remember this isn't an "art class". You aren't there to learn how to draw, color, paint, etc. You are there to be free and do what you want with your canvas and paint. My painting didn't look exaclty like the picture but i followed the instructions and it came out "ok". I love it bc it was made by me and i received a few compliments. thank you again and will be back!! read more

My first time doing anything like this. Let me first say Hannah the young lady who helped with the reservations is awesome! We had a little mishap & almost didn't make the class. But she went out of her way to accommodate me as I was surprising my gielfriend for her birthday. I came all the way from South Jersey to do this. The instructor was cool. They had awesome music playing & overall it was a great time! It was my first time but definitely not my last. I used a Groupon voucher too! Not expensive at all. read more

Dont ever get a Groupon/Living Social or any sort of deals for this place. Trying to make a reservation with these guys has been an absolutely horrible experience. I bought a groupon voucher a few months back and have been trying to make a reservation but they dont respond to emails or phone calls. When they do respond to emails weeks later, they say the requested class is full. No one ever picks up the phone and it goes straight to voicemail. At this point I dont even want to take the class and all I want is my money back. But these people marked my voucher as redeemed when I requested a reservation a couple of months back but never confirmed the reservation. So now I am trying to contact them just so that they can unmark my voucher as not redeemed. ABOSULTELY THE MOST HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I have seen of any place. Stay away! ZERO stars for this place - at least with respect to their customer service. Can't comment on their classes since I obviously havent taken them and after this experience I have no intention of taking their classes. read more

I had my Art By the Glazz experience at the Kalahari Gallery on Fulton Street. I had a groupon that I had bought for $25, originally a $110 value. Sounds like a great deal. The confirmation email was very detailed on what to bring, restaurants nearby, etc. When we got there, the room was set up nicely. Before we began, our instructor taught us a few techniques with a paper towel. Then he sent us off on our own with the recommendation to start with the background and do the trees last (painting of trees, a river, and a person). We didn't receive much guidance and I was expecting a step by step tutorial. The experience was good but my friends' paintings didn't come out so hot so they would have benefited from more feedback and guidance from the instructor. read more

I also bought a deal through Groupon with Art by the Glazz and had exactly the same terrible experience that other folks are reporting. A number of weeks ago I submitted an online reservation request for a class that was supposed to take place tonight, and I never got a confirm. Yesterday I attempted to dial them at a (571) area code number and got a voicemail saying all representatives were busy and to leave a message, which I did. Today I resubmitted the reservation request form and 4 hours later am still waiting for a confirm. ABTG has 3 Brooklyn locations and I called the one location whose phone number I could find. The woman I spoke to let me know that there's no ABTG class taking place there tonight, and when I dial ATBG's (571) number again, I get the same voicemail letting me know all reps are busy, which is clearly a lie. I called Groupon and got them to give me a full refund and I also left terrible feedback for them. Clearly, ABTG has absolutely no business being on Groupon. I'm very frustrated by this entire experience and by how much of my time ABTG wasted. Never AGAIN!!! read more

I am extremely disappointed with the disorganization of ABTG. Not only was the event on Saturday Feb. 15 SOLD OUT and not noted (still not noted) on the website, when I made reservations 6 days prior to the event . When I was forced to schedule for the following week I received 2 reservation confirmations. One for Feb.23rd and another for March 2nd, I called 3 times over the span of 2 days only to be greeted by a voice mail. To get an immediate answer, I had to review my web history. This past Sunday prior to inquire about rescheduling, I clicked onto the FAQ questions link various times (from my phone and 2 computers) but was unable to access the page. Nor is the cancellation policy listed on the confirmation email, but I did note that the purchases for additional amenities are easily accessible from the confirmation email. If I was aware of the cancellation policy and that I would lose my reservation and money, I would have made the extra effort to make Sunday's reservation. Paint Night has a more flexible policy and well worth the cost. For the sake of your current clientele I hope this website is functional and up to date in the future read more

It was a fun time at Art By the Glazz! It is a cute place, located in the lovely Kalahari Gallery in Brooklyn- convenient to get to by car, bus, or train, and easy to park if driving is your preferred method of transport. The gallery is a lovely place to paint and enjoy a glass of wine, adding ambience to the event. The instructor/facilitator on the day I attended was warm and personable, making the overall experience enjoyable. We plan to return soon :) read more

I just did a class at ABTG and I had a fantastic time! I had initially tried to buy a Groupon but because I'm not a US resident and have a foreign credit card, Groupon kept rejecting my payment. I ended up just booking directly through ABTG because I really wanted to do a class and decided to just accept having to pay full-price. Though the class listing showed only two paintings to choose from, when we arrived we were actually given many more from which to make our selection. I ended up sticking with my original selection, but out of around 20 people there was only one other person who did the same one as me. There wasn't a whole lot of instruction, which was okay for me because I've done art in school, but I think overall it could have been improved by being a bit more step-by-step - or at least if they were clearer beforehand with regards to what to expect, because I overheard some people saying they were disappointed. I wonder whether it would be better to do only one painting per night and actually give more instruction on what to do, although I suspect that they are aiming for a free-er approach than this. Our instructor was Kqwon, who was awesome. Che Bruddah (handing out paints etc) was also really nice. Kqwon really made the night with his enthusiasm and humour. I didn't have time to finish my painting, but most other people did. I think I'm a bit too much of a perfectionist. I would definitely take another ABTG class and would highly recommend it to other people. I went alone but it would make a great date or girls' night! read more

I bought a group for the company about a month ago.. And my boyfriend is in the military and we only had scarce time to book this, as he wasn't going to be in NY for long. I saw this paint night idea and thought it seemed fun so I bought it on a whim. After buying it and trying to schedule it for the night after, Art by the glazz then emailed me the day of, saying that the night had already been booked and I would be put on a waitlist and if a seat opened up they would let me know between 5 hours from the time till the time scheduled and I'd have an hour to take it or reschedule. As I was disappointed that we would no longer be able to attend because, well we only have a certain amount of time to spend together and I was not about to just"wait around" and hope the seat would open up. They then emailed me again and said if I didn't book it it would be available until the end of the month (about 2 weeks left in the month). So I decided I would rather get a refund as it did not work for my situation. The company then began to email me back and forth telling me they won't give me a refund (after redeeming the group on without my knowledge) and they were going to tell group on that they offered me a wait list and 2 weeks to book another one therefore telling me I won't get a refund. How rude is that? Furious I emailed group on with my situation and they were way more polite and understanding. And I month later I'm finally getting my refund. I will NEVER go with this company again. How do you redeem a group on without giving me the service? NEVER going with Art by the Glazz ever again. Lesson learned. read more

Horrible customer service. I bought a groupon deal few months back, and I have been trying to schedule a class since Feb and they are non responsive. After registering online for the Brooklyn class, they emailed a few days later saying the class is FULL. I have tried signing up for classes 3 times, and they are always full. Tried signing up again recently but no response... Emailed them 2 weeks ago, and no response. Their phone number goes straight to voicemail. Called and left messages, but no response. Basically don't get a groupon/livingsocial deal expecting to get a class. read more

DO NOT EVER GET Groupon/LivingSocial deal for this!!! As other have reported, Art By The Glazz tickets my friend and I bought just didn't work. We scheduled for the opening event and our seats were never available. They always said the event is full. So, as a flexible person as I am, I scheduled for a different event a month in advance. Unfortunately, we did not get any confirmation at all after so many emails were sent to them. We both lost our money because the last time I tried to reserve was the day before my ticket expiration date. We just wanted to have a good time! I will never ever buy ticket for this event from groupon or living social again. I tried to contact living social about it but since we have tried to reserve the events so many time with the voucher numbers, they did not refund our money. read more

Had the same horrific customer service as Sange L and Diana S. I contacted Living Social and filed a complaint. Phone calls and emails started coming in immediately and I finally received a reservation for a class. What a joke and rip-off. The first thing we were told was about the wine, ONLY those who had paid full price were entitled to a free glass of wine, those who had Groupons or Living Social vouchers would have to pay $5 for a 4 oz cup of Trader Joe's wine. If any of you know, Trader Joe's has some of the best tasting and cheapest wines in NYC. A bottle of Trader Joe's Chardonnay or Merlot cost $2.99 each, so why the hell were they selling 4 oz plastic cups of wine for $5 and a bottle for $12, RIP-OFF! Not sure how much or if the instructor and his assistant had any art teaching experience, neither were able to answer basic questions on placement of figures. read more
