They both always listen carefully to what I tell them then either one of them comes up with a plan (and back up plans) to improve my condition. Kara and Alex are sincerely interested in my well-being. When my issues become complicated, they are always one step ahead on what we should do next. Today I had a steroid shot in both knees. Yea!! It felt better immediately, but if it doesn't last long enough, I think I get gel shots next. There's always a backup plan, and it's not always surgery. Of course Dr. Mustafa is great too, but in doctor's offices, Dr.'s often hand down regular patients to Nurse Practitioner's in the same office. I have no complaints about it with Kara and Alex. I am confident that this office is the right place for me, and I plan on coming here for all my arthritis concerns.

Dr. Stern will also not treat a condition unless it's necessary, he's not trying to take every last dollar from your wallet. ------- I was diagnosed with an Autoimmune disease on 10/31/18 by my dermatologist. She said that every single one of her patients LOVE and recommended Dr. Stern so I scheduled the first available appointment with him which was on 1/31, and did my best to wait patiently. Ms. Janet Maffei was the Physician's Assistant that spent the first visit with me. She spent what felt like an hour with me and didn't rush me, bless her heart she listened to everything I had to say and took notes. She made recommendations for Dr. Stern, which would be followed up on the second appointment. I meet Dr. Stern briefly at the end of the appointment before I went to have my labs done and he let me know that once the labs were done we would be able to proceed from there. Both he and Ms. Maffei recommended a certain website to assist me with bursitis I have in both knees and hips, back pain, and exercises for my shoulder pain as well. Understandably they couldn't recommend anything for the pain because they didn't want to mask any underlying issues or I could have been fishing for narcotics. They did recommend what I could take OTC and/or hot/cold packs. He also worked with another Doctor of mine to get one of my prescriptions (I think after my first appointment they communicated) increased to help the pain, and it helped a bunch. I waited for another 3 weeks (Dr. Stern's a busy guy!) and I was told this in advance! I did have my labs available to me online on the patient portal but I didn't really understand any of it. When I went in I meet up with him and he went in and described everything, in very great detail that was simple for me to understand. He even wrote notes down for me, and they were easy to read! Luckily for me, I didn't have said autoimmune disease and he said that while he was here for me if I needed him... well, I didn't need to keep paying the higher costs since I didn't have those issues. I asked him about the pain in my shoulder, because I'd waited essentially 5 months for treatment thinking it was the autoimmune disease, and he referred me to a local (extraordinary) shoulder specialist Dr. Howard. He told me he could give me a steroid injection, but that honestly he'd prefer that I see someone that could actually help me rather than just giving me a bandaid. Dr. Stern is a specialist and while I am happy that I won't be needing his services, I will say that I'll miss having him as a Doctor. If I could pick him as a Primary Care Provider I would totally do it, but to those of us who need him... They luck out by having a doc that actually cares about his patients. Someone that's not gonna take every penny you have because they can.

Of the eight rheumatologists I've seen over the past decade, Dr. Lomibao is the best care I've ever…read morereceived. Her new office is filled with fast, friendly, and professional staff who deliver unrivaled patient care. ****DR. FRANCES LOMIBAO**** Over the past decade, I've grown accustomed to the poor bedside manner of physicians. Most doctors don't listen to their patients. Most doctors mumble "mmhhmm" when you tell them you're in pain. Most doctors tell their patients what to do. Dr. Lomibao is not most doctors. Dr. Lomibao treats her patients like real human beings with real problems. She takes the time to listen to you (even when it meant listening to my decade's long medical history). She asks great follow-up questions. Most importantly, she's one of the first doctors I've had who actually empathizes with her patients. It's silly, but I cried after my first appointment with Dr. Lomibao. I've never had a rheumatologist say, "I'm worried about you." It's a breath of fresh air to have a doctor who is as concerned about my care as I am. On top of her amazing rapport, Dr. Lomibao has great training. She completed her internship at Long Island College Hospital SUNY Downstate (Brooklyn, NY); her internal medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital (Pittsburgh, PA); and her rheumatology fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine (Indianapolis, IN). Dr. Lomibao is Board-Certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. She is also a member of the American College of Rheumatology. ****THE CARE PROVIDED**** I have psoriatic arthritis with psoriasis. I've seen a rheumatologist at UT Southwestern for the past four years. Over the past year, two of my fingers got really misshapen, my psoriasis returned, and I've had a lot of inflammation and pain. My last rheumatologist really didn't seem to care as my symptoms got worse. When I would ask for more aggressive treatment, my rheumatologist would ignore my requests. So I scoured the internet for reviews and found Dr. Lomibao. It has changed the course of my care for the better. Dr. Lomibao immediately ordered a full set of labs and x-rays. She taught me about my condition and how treatments can help. Unlike most doctors, Dr. Lomibao doesn't tell you what to do. She offers options and lets you decide. However, if you want her recommendation, she will provide it. Dr. Lomibao got me started on a new medication with promising results. Most importantly, she presented me with a more aggressive (but safe) dosing regimen that my previous rheumatologist would have never cared to offer. For the first time in my life, I feel like I actually have a rheumatologist who is fighting for my health. ****THE OFFICE & STAFF**** This office is Dr. Lomibao's re-envisioning of how a doctor's office should work, including the staff. Miranda is fantastic, friendly, and fast. Whenever I have a question, they get back to me within 24 hours. I've never had a billing or insurance issue, and my appointments are always right on time. I have no idea how they do it! On top of all of this, Dr. Lomibao's office is brand new. I've never seen a more organized and clean doctor's office. (Check out the pictures I've posted to see just how beautiful this place is.)

In short, the appointment was for our 18-year-old daughter. She has had severe symptoms uncharacteristic for someone her age: insomnia, migraines, fatigue, chronic pain throughout her body and more. A good physician knows how to make a patient feel as though they are being cared for, that their concerns are valid, and that they are being heard. Dr. Lavery took the time to listen to her concerns, look over her medical history, asked a lot of questions and had several ideas on how to troubleshoot the situation. Dr. Lavery was more than willing to work to figure out what is going on with her. Rather than rushing into diagnosis too quickly, he assured her that he had a process in place and once he received all of the data he needed, he would talk to her about a diagnosis. Dr. Lavery up to this point has been vigilant about following up on tests and communicated those results through a portal he offers his clients. Our daughter is empowered to talk to him any time of the day and he responds quickly. Having access to your doctor like this is remarkable! Thus far he has become a strong advocate for our daughter. He has helped her get medicines approved, secure an appointment for tests or meet with a specialist, and access other necessary services. The best doctors are willing to go the extra mile for their patients' well-being, and this certainly describes Dr. Lavery. We are in the early stages of solving this problem, but after years of waiting to find the right physician to crack this case, Dr. Lavery has been worth the wait. Peace be with you.
